“own it”? um where in the bible does it say that we have to own it? lets see......actually no where. God’s word is settled in Heaven even before the foundation of the world. lutheranism did not exist in Genesis or before the book of Genesis so no no one has to “own it”. the only word that can and we should own is God’s holy word.

(an OBJECT) ➨ INTERCESSION OF MARY & THE SAINTS IN THE BIBLE ...INCLUDING BIBLICAL PROOF that SAINTS ARE NOT AMONG THE DEAD: The Protestant claim that we are forbidden to speak to / pray to Mary and the saints is NOWHERE in the Bible. In fact, the following scriptures were copied (by me) directly from the Protestant version of the Bible: ... ➨INTERCESSION of a holy person on our behalf: ● JOB 42:8 8 Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams, and GO TO MY SERVANT JOB, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and MY SERVANT Job SHALL PRAY FOR YOU, FOR I WILL ACCEPT HIS PRAYER NOT TO DEAL WITH YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR FOLLY; for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. ➨INTERCESSION of MARY: JOHN 2:1 At the wedding feast at Cana, it was Mary who asked Jesus to help the wedding party. ➨INTERCESSION OF THE SAINTS: REV 5:8 The prayers of the Saints are offered to Jesus the lamb. ➨The KING Honours his mother's request: ● 1 KINGS 2:20: Then she said, “I have one small request to make of you; do not refuse me.” And the king said to her, “Make your request, my mother, for I will not refuse you.” (Jesus is the Greatest King and he also honours his mother's requests) SAINTS ALSO WORKED MIRACLES: ➨ JOHN 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. ➨ PAUL RAISES A MAN FROM THE DEAD: ● ACTS 20:7-12 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. 10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.20: ● MARK 6:12-13... 12 They went out and preached that people should repent. 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. ● ACTS 19:12 The Handkerchief of Paul healed sick people: 12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. ● ACTS 5:15 The shadow of Peter healed the sick: so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. ➨SAINTS ARE NOT AMONG THE DEAD: AND THEIR INTERCESSION IS BIBLICAL: They share in the ressurrection of Jesus: (Protestants attack Biblical saints while they follow dead reformers) ● MATTHEW 27: 52 -53: When Jesus was raised from the dead Many were raised up with him. 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. ● LUKE 23 v 39-43...Jesus told the good thief "today you will be with me in paradise" ● REV 19 v 14...when Jesus returns he will be accompanied by his heavenly armies of saints. ● 2 COR 5 v 8...Paul tells us that to be absent with the body is to be with the Lord. ● JOHN 11 v 25-26...Jesus said I am the ressurrection and the life, he who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives, believing in me will never die. ● LUKE 1619-30 The story of the rich man and Lazarus show The Rich man, Lazarus and Abraham, all concious and interacting with each other even though they have physically died. ● LUKE 9:30-31 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: 31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. (Moses & Elijah were alive, and were yalking with Jesus) ● REV 6:10 The souls of the martyrs are before the throne of God, crying out for justice. (they are conscious and actively petitioning God) ● HEB 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, ● MATT 17:1-13 ...At the Transfiguration of Jesus, he is seen speaking to Moses and Elijah, further showing that Holy ones of God are not among the dead. ➨HONOURING MARY: LUKE 1:48: All generations will call Mary Blessed. We Catholics are the ones who call her the BLESSED Virgin Mary and treat her accordingly. RELICS OF THE SAINTSS ● 2 Kings 13:21 The Bones of Elijah revived a man: 21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet ● ACTS 19:12 The Handkerchief of Paul healed sick people: 12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. ● ACTS 5:15 The shadow of Peter healed the sick: so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. ● MARK 6:12-13... 12 They went out and preached that people should repent. 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. (the use of oil, a material substance was used to heal people) ➨NOWHERE does the bible permit protestants (or anyone else) to Scrutinize & monitor the prayers of other people, nor to judge their sincerity or their salvation. Protestantism does not come from jesus. It began with Martin Luther in 1517 & exists Only to oppose the Catholic church which Jesus founded 15 centuries B4 the protestant revolt. They only know & accept the PARTS of the Bible that suit them and they do not have an accurate bible either.

It's not clear to me how quoting other writings adequately explains this particular quotation. I'd like to know the context for the statement, because, short of any mitigating context, it is unquestionably incorrect and blasphemous. If the social norms considered talking with a woman adulterous, was Luther affirming that perspective and condemning Christ? Or was his use of the term adultry meant to be in quotes, so to speak?

Here is a quote that absolutely DID Come from Luther: He told his gullible followers to "Sin boldly and let your sin be strong, but let your faith be stronger" This is quite similar to the quote of Aleister Crowlet (satanist) who said "Do what thou wilt" and of course both quotes contradict the bible and the words of Jesus who said "Go and sin NO MORE" and many other scritures as well
@justanotherbaptistjew56592 жыл бұрын
This is the actual quote: If you are a preacher of mercy, do not preach an imaginary but the true mercy. If the mercy is true, you must therefore bear the true, not an imaginary sin. God does not save those who are only imaginary sinners. Be a sinner, and let your sins be strong (or “Sin boldly”),but let your trust in Christ be stronger, and rejoice in Christ who is the victor over sin, death, and the world. We will commit sins while we are here, for this life is not a place where justice resides. We, however, says Peter (2 Peter 3:13) are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth where justice will reign. It suffices that through God’s glory we have recognized the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world. No sin can separate us from Him, even if we were to kill or commit adultery thousands of times each day. Do you think such an exalted Lamb paid merely a small price with a meager sacrifice for our sins? Pray hard for you are quite a sinner. He’s not telling people to sin, he’s telling them to recognize that they are great sinners in need of a great Savior!

@@cynthiax56Yeah but literally nobody can sin no more except Jesus Christ himself. However, what Jesus Christ really meant is that we should try to be better and try not to sin. However, you could still say that Luther is contradicting Jesus here. But the thing is Luther isn't contradicting Jesus because within the context of Luther's statement of "sin boldly", Luther meant we should recognise the fact that Jesus Christ died for everyone's sins present, past and future tense and we should do not have self pity over ourselves on the fact that we still sin as doing so means that we are making Jesus Christ's dieing for our sins completely in vain.

You are defending Martin Luther. A man whose doctrine you follow, and that is the first thing that the Bible tells us not to follow. Galatians 1:7-11, 2John 1-9-10, Romans 16:18 all talk about not following another teaching other than the one taught by Jesus Christ. You are following Luther, a man that was only a Priest for only 10 years when he thought that he could change the doctrine of Jesus Christ. You can spin it any way you want, but you are one of those that they talk about in Romans 16:18. There is only one true Church founded by Jesus Christ, and that is the Catholic Church. If you love the Bible, and believe everything in it, then why do you love a book that was put together by the Catholic Church in the year 382 by Pope Damascus X. Don't forget that Luther took out 7 books out of the Bible, and even wanted to take out the book of James. Luther was no one to decide what should be or not be in the Bible. You praise a heritic.

Luther said some interesting things: Christ committed adultery first of all with the woman at the well about whom St. John tells us. Was not everybody about Him saying: “Whatever has he been doing with her?” Secondly, with Mary Magdalene, and thirdly with the woman taken in adultery whom he dismissed so lightly. Thus even Christ, who was so righteous, must have been guilty of fornication before He died. (D. Martin Luthers Werke, kritische Gesamtausgabe [Hermann Bohlau Verlag, 1893], vol. 2, no. 1472, April 7 - May 1, 1532, p. 33)

Satan, whenever he is giving you a lie, will never give it to you straight, but will always mix it in with a good measure of truth -- enough truth to make it appear very reasonable and palatable. And in that way, what George has written is true, because probably 8/10 "Lutheran" churches in North America, and virtually all in Europe, and certainly all that belong to the Lutheran World Federation which is in league with Rome, teach gospel reductionism, and bless and encourage egregious sin, that grace might abound all the more. (In Rome's case, they offer various ways to buy one's way out of punishment for sin: indulgences. By this they deny the completed work of the Atonement of Christ, making Christ a liar.) And indeed, just like the Roman church, these 8/10 "Lutheran" churches teach that Scripture is not clear and definitive, and that it is God's prerogative to circumvent His own Word. So they teach that Islam may be "another way" to Heaven, just like the pope teaches.

Not Luther's finest hour, and we should not shy away from saying so. Nor should we do anything other than acknowledge and accept that the name "Lutheran" is highly problematic, among so many other reasons, for this bungled explanation of The Great Exchange, as it were. Add it to the list of things we wish Luther hadn't said or been quoted as having said. I don't have the German in front of me, but if Luther really did use the word "Sünder" in reference to Jesus, no matter how noble and well-intentioned his motivation may have been, he should not have done that. He who had no sin became sin for us that we might become (receive) His Righteousness. He is our Righteousness. But if Jesus had been "a sinner", as Luther is apparently quoted here as having said, the Great Exchange could never work. This is simply another case of Luther getting caught with his foot in his mouth. Luther buffs will explain it away, knowing his theology and being favorably disposed towards him. But his adversaries will do no such thing, but will rather point to his words as opposed to his good intentions or his intended meaning. It is an opportunity for us Lutherans not to defend some of his lacklustre writings or quotations, but to admit rightly that they do add to the troubles associated with our name: Lutheran.

Was my writing so poor so that it could have been understood to state the very opposite of what it states? I have not said that we should "make excuses for Luther" but entirely on the contrary, my good man. In my writing, I believe I stated clearly that we must not do that. Where Luther stated the truth, we should acknowledge that. And where he bungled, we should acknowledge that too, as in this case -- keeping in mind that this writing is someone else's recording of what the man supposedly said, and not his own autograph to which he affixed his own hand. And in any event it is not something included in the Lutheran Confessions as accepted by the church. Roman Catholics, too, probably have been quoted as having said some astoundingly stupid things that got jotted down -- the Council of Trent, for instance, comes most immediately to mind.

Well, nothing at all, I suppose, as a renunciation of the orthodox Christian faith and as a charter for blasphemy and heresy, it's first rate. But I think much of it was upended with Vatican II anyway. One never knows with Rome -- they just kind of make it up as they go along. Lately I understand they have declared that avowed Mohammedans, too, can be saved when they die in that idolatry. Presumably we can aid their posthumous conversion to Christianity by praying to the dead or buying indulgences for them or saying a mass for them or some such thing.

Why do you think Christ chose illiterate fishermen to be His followers, to establish His church and give testimony to his life even unto death by martyrdom? Was it because of the intellectual genius of the apostles? No, it was the glory of God given to children and HIDDEN from the wise, so man may not boost it was his intellect that found God! Some of these comments sound like they didn’t even listen to the video. Open up your ears people. Jesus had to become Sin for us. Our sin and it’s penalty were upon Him. And He suffered as a murderer and thief and adulterer and conveter and luster and blasphemer for us! As a SINNER for us!!! That is all the Luther meant. Luther was all about pointing us to Christ and Him alone. And so are all confessional Lutherans today. I too am not crazy about the name “Lutheran.” It is stuck though and we have the right teaching in the Book of Concord of the doctrines of the Word of God. Study primary sources of Luther not what you learn about him in the universities. He was a man and sinner, indeed! But he preached and taught Christ crucified and administered the Sacraments faithfully for you and me for us sinners!!! As were are possibly righteous before God Jesus is passively a Sinner on the Cross. We are given His righteousness and upon His is placed our sin! The Great Exchange as Wolfmueller mentioned. He is not and was not an active sinner. Just as we are and have never been actively righteous! If He didn’t passively take our sin upon Himself then we would still be stuck in our sin and would not have the passively given righteousness of Jesus. And this is not putting “lipstick on a pig” as one commenter below said. 😂😂😂 I absolutely love that phrase.

Indeed, there possibly could not be a better example than this of the kind of problem that can arise as a result of applying the name of one particular person to your church body, or in this case bodies. Perhaps Rome really did curse us with it after all. One problem, among many with Luther, is that there is as much or more of him in print wherein he is to be found speaking decidedly in his own behalf, and by no means on behalf of the church which has come to bear his name. People like us may be willing to go to the trouble to distinguish between those writings accepted by the church and those that aren't. And we may be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt because, as you wrote, we judge that, on balance, he did more good than evil, and that is doubtless true. But many will not make such distinctions, much less be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. So the question here is not whether Martin Luther was a good egg on balance. The question is of whether he helped or hurt the Gospel by this particular meandering -- and, in this case, the answer (and I say this as a Lutheran, and as someone who did listen to the whole program) is the latter. No matter how fine a theologian he may have been most of the time, no amount of verbal or written gymnastics, on his own part, nor on the part of his defenders, can make correct a theologically incorrect statement. And that is what this is all about. To be a sinner has no correct or proper meaning (whether in English or in German) other than to be a person who commits sins as a result of being affected by original sin. No matter how fond we may be of Martin Luther, and no matter how convinced we may be of his theological soundness, this particular statement -- that Jesus became a sinner -- is neither true nor theologically accurate in any sense. That is why Scripture is clear in stating the matter in precisely the way in which it does -- that He who had no sin became sin for us. Scripture most definitely does not say that Jesus became a sinner for us -- not in a figurative sense, nor in any sense. Where Luther totally blew it, let us by all means admit it and call him out -- and stop trying to put lipstick on a pig.
@hansimgluck49655 жыл бұрын
It would be better to respond, rather than to go back and to change or to add to the original posts by editing them. Otherwise it becomes difficult to follow the dialog. The problem is theological as well as linguistic. The word "sinner" is, by definition, indicative of the action of sinning by the person to whom the word is applied. There is no such thing as a "passive" sinner, and that is why we will find no reference to such a thing in Scripture. It is an awkward twist to try to defend this embarrassment of Luther's, but it is theologically incorrect and untrue to refer to Jesus as a sinner -- whether passive, active, or of any other kind. For this reason, Scripture refers only to His having become sin for us, and by no means to His having become "a sinner" for us -- on the cross, off the cross, or in any other place. To have the sins of the world placed upon Him cannot be described as His having "become a sinner" -- not unless we are going to embrace a post-modern, Humpty Dumpty approach to language whereby the meaning of the word is merely whatever the one using it intends it to mean. And in any event, Luther was not quoted as having said that Jesus had become a sinner on the cross, but rather, apparently, was quoted as having said that Jesus had become a sinner at the well with the woman come to draw water at midday, and with the other women etc. Whatever Luther's good contributions to the church and to the faith, this meandering was not one of them.

Yes, we should put our faith in Christ's righteousness, because He became sin for us. Praise The LORD! And we believe Luther was a follower of Christ: Faith Alone (a gift of GOD), Grace Alone (through Christ's blood shed on the cross), Scripture Alone (God's Word became flesh, the Living Bread of life). Sadly, many Lutheran disciples now follow Luther's friends who have revised the BOC over the years. :( Please prove me wrong!!! I've been a LCMS most of my life). Some Lutheran leaders: have faith in Christ plus Luther? Their grace comes from Christ's blood shed on the cross plus idol worship in Luther's Sacraments: mystery elements. Scripture plus BOC? Yes, Christ instituted Baptism (Matthew 3:11, Acts 1:4-5. Acts 2:17,38-39, 1 Peter 3:21, 2 Timothy 3:15, Titus 3:4-7) and the LORD's Supper: "Take and eat: this is my body which is broken for you..." "This cup is the new testament in my blood: (1 Corinthians 11:24,25 KJV) Does anyone see where it says, "Do this in remembrance of Martin Luther and his doctrine?" isn't that idolatry? Christ's institutes God's gifts and to GOD be the Glory, right? 'For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, you proclaim the LORD's death till He comes. 1 Corinthian 11:26 NKJV Take heed? Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Psalms 146:3-4

Being a Christian is following after a man
@saharsadlovsky64945 жыл бұрын
Tzadik Vanderhoof Being a Christian is to believe in the one true God of Israel. We don’t a make a man God, but we believe that for us men, and for our salvation, God came down from heaven and became a man. as a Jewish guy who believes that Jesus is the promised messiah, I know that the Christian doctrines is not pagan invention and who brought the idea of making the messiah Divine, but in fact, it flows and rooted in the The first testament (the Tanach-the hebrew bible). For example Isaiah 9:6 predicts that the messiah to be _born_ will be a mighty God. In fact, the Prophet Jeremiah (23:5-6) clearly tells us that the Messiah will bear a Divine Title. Thanks be to God that he has sent us the best messiah! He has sent us himself. This news is life giving that is proclaiming to us, to the Jews first and to all nations. God in Jesus redefined once and for all the family of God whose members marked by faith and baptism and live by grace alone.

Luther blasphemed Jesus! Called him an adulterer!
@GeorgePenton-np9rh5 жыл бұрын
This guy really ought to go into politics. That's the most ridiculous and absurd excuse making I have ever heard in my life. Jesus committed adultery with three women, not because He did it, but because He was making up for people's sins. That sounds like Bill Ckinton to me---maybe those three women had sex with Jesus, but Jesus did not have sex with them. This is what the great Protestant hero Martin Luther actually said: "Christ committed adultery first of all with the wiman at the well about whom St. John tells us. ...Secondly with Mary Magdalene, and thirdly with the woman taken in adultery that He dismissed so lightly. Thus even Christ, Who was so righteous, musr have been guilty of fornication before He died." Luther said Christ was guilty, not that Christ bore the guilt. He said Christ committed sin, not just made up for it. Lutherans, make your choice. Do you wish to follow Christ, or do you wish to follow the evil and crude Martin Luther? "Martin Luther is now in Hell and all who follow him will surely join him there," said St. Padre Pio after seeing a vision on the subject. And by the way, 2 Thessalonians 2:15 disproves sola scriptura and Matthew 25:31-46 disproves sola fide.

@@iggyykinkstonebeat683 We don't hate Lutherans. We hate the errors of Luther and the divisions he caused in Christianity. We don't want to see anyone go to Hell; we desire the reunion of all Christians in the True Church and the conversion of the human race. Neither is goung to happen if we preach a gospel of Christ the Playboy.

Padre Pio's vision of Luther supposedly in Hell is a private revelation and is not accepted by Rome.
@GeorgePenton-np9rh5 жыл бұрын
@@archexpos1t0r Troy, I don't know if you are Catholic or not but the Catholic Church teaches that a private revelation is not in a par with official Church teaching on a particular subject, true. A private interpretation is not a doctrine but it is, if it is genuine, and the holiness of Padre Pio strongly suggests that it is genuine, a revelation from God. A truth, in other words. Catholics are free to reject private revelation but it is considered rash to do so. There is a doctrine that says outside the Church there is no salvation, and that is solid bedrock doctrine, not a private revelation. According to some saints people should reject private revelations only if they contradict doctrine or reason, which Padre Pio's vision does not. It is not unreasonable at all to believe that a man who destroyed Christian unity in western Europe, who called good works sins, who called the ten commandments stupid, who called for the extermination of the Jews 400 years before his fellow German Adolf Hitler actually tried to carry this out, and who said Jesus was some kind of playboy who screwed Mary Magdalene, the woman at the well, and the woman caught in adultery----it is not unreasonable that God would send such a person to Hell, especially when God told His holy servant Padre Pio that in a private revelation. Here's an analogy for you----if you are sick and are seeking professional medical advice as to the remedy, a doctor is more likely to know what medicine to take than a nurse is. But the nurse still knows plenty, and if what she says does not contradict what the doctor says, why shouldn't we believe the nurse? The nurse here is like private revelation and the doctor like Church doctrine. Or you could go paralegal and attorney if you wanted, bookkeeper or accountant, sergeant or colonel, take your pick.

@FaithHopeGrace There are plenty of pedophile Protestant ministers too. The Catholic Church is not better than Protestant churches because we have better clergy. The Catholic Churchbis the One True Church that perserves the genuine Gospel from evil men like Martin Luther that taught a false version of the Gospel.
