Okay I watched the full stream, I was diagnosed with autism as an adult and I remember I told my brother I would not be surprised if Pat or Paige were autistic, and I felt bad about saying that because I was pretty sure I was just seeing the overlapping symptoms of OCD in Pat. I feel so fuckin vindicated by this stream even if Pat isn't actually autistic I know I'm not nuts for having thought that

In self-evaluations you have to kind of do it quickly and almost by instinct. Sitting on each question and thinking about deeper context is often self-defeating. Pat and Paige questioning each other's responses would have certainly spoiled any results if these were more serious examinations. It's also why psychs will give you multiple evaluations, tests, and will even ask friends and/or family to fill evaluations on how they perceive your behavior. (but I digress, obviously these were just for fun)

Ummm... Yeeeah... That's actually pretty common autistim trait. And like grafittisamurai said there's a reason why medical professionals do multiple evaluations and question people close to you.

I agree. You can have great manners and still be a terrible person. While you can have terrible manners and be a good person. For one, manners are based on culture. While many aspects of morality tend to have more overlap universally (not everything, but still) despite culture. In some culture, I heard it’s bad manners to eat all the food on your plate because it’s like telling the person who provided the food that they didn’t give you enough. In my perception of manners, that’s silly. Manners aren’t enough.

Yep. Absolutely. Getting into writing and illustration took most of the edge off and now it doesn't interrupt literally everything anymore. My job kind of "helped," but also not. My job is, in fact, so stressful that I literally don't have the energy for imagination right now, which is both a blessing and a curse, because when I want to imagine, I can't. 😆 I've been suffering from imagintive burnout for almost 10 years now. As a writer and artist on the side, it fucking _sucks._

I had horrible anxiety and when covid hit my anxiety skyrocketed to the highest its ever been and the just plummeted into nonexistence. It was so sudden, I thing something inside me broke. Like my fuck factory burnt out from overuse and I no longer have any fucks to give. Honestly its the best thing that's ever happened to me. Anyway I scored 60.

Hyperbole and a Half's "Adventures in Depression" has a great bit about this. "I've always wanted to not give a fuck. And finally - _finally_ - after a lifetime of feelings and anxiety and more feelings, I didn't have any feelings left. I felt invincible. And that's how my depression got so horrible that it actually broke through to the other side and became a sort of fear-proof exoskeleton." The full comic is worth checking out. Probably the most relatable thing I've ever read.

1:45:20 ok so as someone who got 175 on the first test and am watching you guys get a little confused with why the questions are the way they are, the best explanation is, do you feel you are doing these things INTENTIONALLY or SUBCONCIOUSLY...if it is something you have to think about before you do then you are masking. If you picked it up naturally and think "is this something every human does anyways?" then you arnt.

A problem I have with tests like this is I am very pedantic about the phrasing. Like "I have been told that I am clumsy" like are we asking if specifically anyone has SAID that to you or if you are clumsy?? both things have not necessarily occured. Maybe it speaks to the autism that I don't fully understand what the questions are actually asking elemayo and like also what if you are self-aware of your shit??? Anyway I got 186 on this test 🤣
@graffitisamurai
@graffitisamurai 7 ай бұрын
You're not supposed to "think" too hard on self-evals, you kind of go with your gut. It's why psychs will ask you to do several of them, to filter out outlier answers. They'll also often ask for an evaluation from a close family member/friend to see if your self evaluation is wildly out of step with how other's perceive you.

Pat quite often takes things and words too literally. Seeing, while physically observing something, also can be something else. "Do you see what I mean" doesn't mean that you literally see something and he knows it. When Paige says "See in the minds eye" it does mean that apple that he's IMAGINING an imaginary object, unless you are thinking about a specific memory, then it's REMEMBERING. Granted, imagination is a more advanced function of remembering. And while Pat's imagination/memory is a bit flawed(hearing only his voice), he still has an imagination. But it's always funny when this thing comes up.

It was really interesting to watch Paige take the test, taking a long time on easy questions while Pat supports and encourages her. Also I very much disagree with Paige’s assessment of her knowing when she is being rude.

1:06:45 I am just now learning, as an autistic person, is THIS not normal? like as a child i developed attachment to physical objects people gave me even if they were relatively useless or come in the thousands because it was important enough for someone to concider it a gift so i HVE to keep it, it MATTERED TO THEM so it has to MATTER TO ME, thats what gifts are for? Its rude otherwise right? Even in sitcoms and stuff its always a plotpointt hat characters try and return gifts for store credit or whatever and theyre concidered a bad friend for doing it.
