I love Pat Buchanan. I am a democrat that ten years ago became interested in reducing immigration for environmental reasons. Pat was the only person to regularly speak out for less immigration . I have watched him be slimed as a racist and bigot unfairly for years. his work on bringing attention to massive job losses through unfair trading practices has done as much or more for working people in America than any of the liberals pretending to be on the side of the poor. Pat is an American.

I was writing a document titled Economical, political, and social cannibalism: Politics in America, proposing the same hypothesis. Now l realise that l have nothing new to offer l just came to the same conclusion as Buchanan had 10 years earlier. That basically stops my document, however, knowing that America have the same problems ten years ago as it has now in 2022, only shows that Biden following Obama's plan is having a negative affect. The fact that the immigration issue was covered at the beginning of the program shows the reality of Mr. Buchanan, statements. I stumbled upon this segement of uncommon knowledge at 11:30 p.m. and now realize that my thoughts on the subject is the same as the much clearer thoughts on the subject 10 years earlier by Mr. Buchanan. I may decide to continue with the document but clearly Buchanan's book clearly defines the shortcomings even to this day.

These blocks of immigrants living together in unassimilated mass remind me of the end of Rome, when the barbarians came not to become Roman but as a silo, a block or what today would be called a ghetto - as does the unwillingness of Romans, especially elites to have children, disdain for the old Cato style ethic of family, frugality etc.

Actually, long before the dark ages Christianity changed basic human philosophy toward a better and more humane way of dealing with fellow men. You can argue all day about the validity of religion philosophically, but it undeniably had a profound effect on human interraction. Pat, on the other hand, has a more mundane and less comprehensive take on it all, maybe because of his background. But he's basically right.

You may also think about what we don't have now because of the loss of manufacturing and development. tariffs would equalize those import taxes and duties placed on our goods and services. In addition, you overlook pats main point about Foreign corporations need to build factories here if they want to sell their goods here. germany keeps many of its jobs and factories and does not give away company secrets just to gain access to foreign markets, we should do the same

Wait a minute. For the bulk of the history of the world slavery was the norm. The society that did not practice it was unknown. The idea that slavery was responsible for the advancement of the West is preposterous. Cheap Irish labour in the US was far more economical than slavery. The real question is why did the industrial revolution happen in Christendom and not in other civilizations? To say that Christianity had nothing to do with it is obtuse.

Young America was a christian America. The Declaration of Independence speaks of the Creator imbuing people with Liberty. The liberty people enjoyed in America created the foundation upon which the first industrial society could be build. The US didn't become a superpower until WWII, by which time slavery had been abolished. Whether or not christianity is the only common understanding of values upon which a free society can be build is debatable, but it was the basis for American society.

I don't buy his isolationism and trade barriers but I think he is right about immigration. Allowing a huge number of recent immigrants to become a majority in a single geographic area is a recipe for separatism and violence in the future. Ethnic and racial identity trumps economic self interest every time.

He doesn't want to be dismissed as a racist. Like it or not, the word "white" is tainted in public discourse. It's a better communication strategy. He does refer to "whites" at certain points, including a chapter of his book, which he says he took flak for, and possibly lost his job over. But framing it differently can make people think about it without the negative associations they've been programmed with. "Western peoples" or "European-Americans" means the same thing.

The "Dark Ages" are better called the Age of Barbarians, since it was that influence that kept Europe dark for 500 years. The Catholic Church started the university system, charity work (hostels & hospitals), human rights, & legal systems that applied to all. As for Islam's "science," & philosophy, it was borrowed from Eastern Christians & translated into Arabic; once the translations were made, Islam ossified. Christianity was not perfect, but it did a great deal & Islam stalled.

I've been reading his articles, not his books, for years now; sadly, he has recently retired or at least decided to stop writing articles for a while, or maybe my source cut him, I don't know. Admittedly, I've been influenced by Pat Buchanan. He came to the university where I was doing my doctorate (never finished it). The packed gymnasium was standing-room only, with people packed in the upstairs lobby as well. Police had to be called out for the traffic. THis was in the nineties, I believe. I so enjoyed watching him, along with Eleonor Clift and Clarence and John McLaughlin, on PBS. A Washington native, he always seemed "anti" Washington, "anti" THE SWAMP. He seemed to be FOR the ordinary people, regular working people, people I've always identified with. Presumably he was never AGAINST HOMELAND SECURITY. No one, in his right mind, is against Homeland Security. There is a subtext however. I think either consciously or unconsciously the man is biased in favor of "his own people." My personal belief is that there is an element of what is commonly called "racism." But this is something that goes down deep. Whites have it; all colors have it. I know a Vietnamese nun who favors others, over against "whites." Probably each one, in fact, favors "his or her own," over against a "radical diversity." A radical, ideological "ideology" of "liberalism." Pat was/is a conservative. A Republican conservative. I've never heard him say anything "racist." Now, it is true, on foreign policy, he leans "isolationist" over against "interventionist." Sometimes this attitude is regarded "anti-semitic." Maybe it is. It seems a stretch, though, to say that Midwestern believers in American Manufacturing are all "anti-semitic." There is something wrong with our country. It is not working. I've been ranting and raving about this, in these spaces, for years now. I do get excited when a big election is coming up. This morning, on TV, I thought Asa Hutchison was just brilliant. What a plaiin-spoken, down-home, brilliant man. He's not going to let a shallow news person spin him into some blanket position, on a hot topic. He knows policy like the back of his hand; he knows how to speak well about policy, and in its details, not its customary sound-bites. Like I said, he's exceptional. He's probably funded by all kinds of special interests. But within that system, he still stands out as someone with sense, as opposed to an ideology, like the Far Left. After him, on TV, this morning, came Debbie Dingell. She also was just absolutely brilliant, not an ideological nut case, such as we see every day. The Campaign has begun. I cannot wait.

The West started with non-Christian Greek pagans. The Romans were pagans, too. The Roman Empire collapsed when it adopted Christianity. The 'revival' of Europe (the Renaissance, I presume) was a return to the Classical pagan thinkers. Europe's greatest moments were exactly when we struggled against the authority of the Church, especially the corrupt Catholic one (Renaissance, Enlightenment, Scientific Revolution). The West greatness lies in its willpower to resist religious dogma and authority

Ugh! You know, if you'd watch the whole interview, you'd see that he holds no hatred for other races or religions. He's making a cultural argument, though I think he needlessly injected notions of race into it. He's saying that culture matters in preserving this country. It's a culture of tolerance of people of different backgrounds, but holds to some principles that are derived from a Judeo-Christian tradition, which the Founders attempted to secularize to some extent.

Level the playing field... We demand workers get payed a minimum wage. Work only so many hours before over time kicks in. Demand the same environmental and work place safety regulations for foreign workers. Why are the wages of a laborer in China or India a fraction of a US worker when it is the same job? Why is our labor more valuable? As 'free' as we are we are not permitted to opt in or out of public 'services'. If you want or use a service you pay for if. It should not be at gun point

This guy is probably a Christian As an Old Norse pagan I have to disagree with you on one thing This country itself wasn't founded on judeo-christian religion our rights and our Bill of Rights are inspired by judeo-christian notions like things like the ten commandments and the Golden rule and so on and so forth However our founding fathers came over here because they weren't allowed to practice the way they wanted to in Britain and also they wanted to talk about the spookyuki stuff which at the time for them was space aliens That being the case you can't expect all peoples of this nation to follow One Faith even if you think that faith is the only faith and the right faith This nation wasn't founded on that principle this nation was founded on the principle first and foremost that you can worship however you want That's why William Penn moved to Pennsylvania Him and the rest of the Quakers pacifists anti-war all of the above these people moved to that area so they could worship the way they want The famous landing at Plymouth Rock was a landing by Puritan Christians because they couldn't worship the way they wanted to That's Massachusetts the Church of latter-day saints landed in Utah and built up a Mormon civilization The Amish came over here and if you go to certain Amish communities you can still hear them speak the dialect of German that they spoke before they left Germany Long story short our most important founding principle is probably you should be able to worship the way you wish to Because if this place was really built similar to a Christian theocracy then I would be judged constantly even if I weren't arrested or something like that but I would be judged and looked at funny constantly because of the fact that I'm an old Norse pagan Every time I went out wearing my mjolnir pendant I would be looked at like an alien But I'm not as a matter of fact if I went out most people probably wouldn't even notice it and the ones who would notice it probably consists of the Uber end of days Christians who would call it an upside down cross because I've seen that and those who are also Old Norse pagans like me And the latter would probably at the most send a Hale brother praise be to Odin and Thor in my direction at the most
