I was so excited to see where the bulldogs would be next year with him. It’s always been tough being a State fan but this hurts exponentially worse than any loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to family at this time.

@utmastuh9100 Damn right. I'm only 27 and my entire family is huskies fans. I was born in Yakima and chose at a young age to be a coug fan. I didn't get to relish the Ryan Leaf saga. But Leech brought true greatness to us. And Cameron Ward this year looked stellar

I live in the area of WSU, GO COUGS. My favorite Coach Leach quote went: People that think you have to pass 50% of the time and run 50% of the time are 50% stupid. I call the plays that my personnel dictates. RIP Coach!

Mike Leach never coached a team I was a fan of, but damn how could anyone not like the guy? I've often binge watched his interviews because of how epically hilarious he is. He seemed like a genuine and authentic good guy. RIP coach Leach. Hope his family and everyone at his program are doing okay.

Coach Mumme came up with the base system but says Mike Leach took ownership of it and pushed it to it's limits. He even gave it it's name, the "Air Raid." He wanted a cool name so he could publicize it, which he was great at. Leach was one of those people who threw himself into everything he did and was really great at everything.

It has been remarkable how many of my friends had met him and taken pictures with him in my FB feed. Another local company had a picture of him visiting their local outdoors shop. My Mom’s side were all Cougs, so this feels closer to home than it should. RIP Coach! 👊🏻💥👊🏻

Mike Leach was a hell of a guy, being from Lubbock I can tell you nobody there was happy when he was fired (we still hate Craig & Adam James to this day because of that) and when he went to WSU pretty much everybody was rooting for him to succeed up there, which he did. The guy elevated programs, and I think if he had gotten a chance to go to a major program, with better recruiting resources, instead of mid-level one he'd have been in the CFP and might have eventually won one; the guy may have talked in circles but he was a genius.

You mean the time that a player suffered a possible concussion and Leach put him in the air-conditioned practice facility to get him out of the heat? And how he turned off the lights in there to help reduced the strain on the kid's eyes incase the concussion was serious? Sounds to me like he was ahead of his time in caring for the physical health of his players. The allegations you refer to came to light after TTU administrators were unhappy with his contract demands and were looking for a reason to fire him and severe the agreement. So they had one of their loyal alumni lean on some players to come forward with any allegation of misconduct. The firing of Leach is looked on in hindsight as a huge screw-up that set TTU athletics back years. Just look at his reputation after leaving Tech, not one single allegation of wrongdoing, and all his players and coaches love him.
