Rodman is the most underrated player in NBA history. David Robinson on Shaq (and I love Robinson, one of my all time favorites) played each other pretty straight up. Against Hakeem O'lajuwon, he career was several points better, rebounds 3+, etc. Against Rodman, he got his points, but Rodman was several inches shorter and gave up at least 80 pounds. Rodman still battled him to a stand still and was 13 wins against 3 losses against Shaq. Crazy mother, but a great player.

People tend to overlook a missed FT from Jordan because of all the clutch shots he did make to win games. Had the Bulls lost that ECF to the Pacers, I’m sure people would’ve criticized Jordan. However, people forget that missed FT because Jordan went on to make a clutch shot to win the NBA Finals in Game 6 against the Jazz.

The brutality MJ and the Bulls had to go through to get to the top was something else. I seen it myself. There was a game where MJ was fouled hard mid air and fell to the floor. One other Piston player fell to the floor with him, Dennis Rodman. Rodman then punched MJ in the gut while MJ was on the floor.

Interesting fact about Scott Burrell: After his freshman year at University of Connecticut, Burrell was drafted by another baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays, and Burrell decided to spend his summers playing minor league baseball while concentrating on basketball for the rest of the year. Burrell's basketball career would quickly overshadow his baseball career, however, as he became the first player in NCAA history to compile over 1,500 points, 750 rebounds, 275 assists and 300 steals.

That team literally had the three best defensive players in the league in Rodman, Pippen, and Jordan.... and Harper was no slouch either. That alone was amazing. And Rodman is one of the most underrated players ever to step on the court. Because of his lack of offense, people who don't know the game like to poo poo on him, but what he did on the court was special. McAfee is 100% right, Rodman knew exactly where the rebound was going as soon as it left the shooter's hand because he constantly studied players, and he was smart as hell (basketball wise), and made sure he was going to be the first one to the spot. He could be a shut down defender at 3 positions, including against monsters who towered over him and outweighed him greatly, like Shaq. He was also a good passer. Many of his outlet passes to start a fast break after a rebound were things of beauty.

MJ caught hell for that missed FT and was consistently questioned if he could lead a team to the title. We didn't need social media for it to be bad because it was in the papers, on TV, and everyone talked about it. Lebron is the focus today because he has been the next great player, so people need to stop feeling sorry for his ass. He is my favorite player today (hate his politics though), but the Mavs series ENDED his chance to be the GOAT and that's it. He is the most talented/best player to ever play in the NBA, but he isn't anywhere near the GOAT or Icon status that MJ has locked down.

It makes utterly no sense to say that LeBron is the “most talented/best player EVER” in one breath and then say that someone else is THE GOAT. This is what happens when MAGA ppl try to talk about basketball.
@parawill7074
@parawill7074 4 жыл бұрын
@@t.k.1319 - GOAT isn't determined based solely around one's talent. MJ is the GOAT based around his dominance as a player, his team's success with him as the leader, and those "moments" that separate him from other players. Lebron is a talent that the NBA has never seen where he could be so good at so many things at such a high level and rate. Unfortunately, he will not go down as the GOAT or even an icon because his career started too close to MJ's and he failed to produce in the Finals with Wade and Bosh against the Mavs. He was the reason that they lost that series and there is no getting around that. Like I said, Lebron is the most talented/best player that has ever joined the NBA, but his career doesn't measure up to GOAT level. There is a difference between being considered the GOAT or looked upon as the most talented/best player. If Lebron wanted to average over 30 pts for his career, he could have easily done that, but he chose to be a scoring Magic Johnson. The man will finish on career lists with numbers that may never be hit again, but he can't eclipse MJ as the GOAT.

Lebron isn't great, he took 4 steps holding the ball in front of a ref and no traveling call. Bird would have destroyed him.

They did not show MJ missing at the buzzer in game 1 against the Lakers. I was at that game and game 2 (“a spectacular move!”). Plus Games 1 and 6 against Portland. In those days Trophy presentations were in the locker rooms and I figured out later I left the building about one minute before the players came back out on the floor to celebrate with the fans. Yeesh....

Imagine if someone was in the NBA finals and said. “I want a vacation.” Goes to Vegas, and sees the star player picking him up at the airport. The headlines would be insane in today’s world.

Alright, Whippersnapper, let me tell you about a fella named Julius Erving and the greatest in-game dunk in NBA history- The cradle dunk on Michael Cooper. MJ was the greatest, but he sure didn't invent that stuff. Check out Doc in his early pro days. Dayum!

The legacy of MJ is failure and success. He missed the free throw but hit game winner in Game 5 to close out the series. MJ and the Bulls kept losing to the Pistons but finally defeated them and went to go 6-0. The legacy of LeBron is taking the short cut to artificial championship by joining superteams

It's weird seeing the word failure being associated with MJ when even when he loses you knew he put his all in the game, I remember one game he lost he scored 63 points going double overtime

Rick Duong that isn’t fair because he won one with just kyrie and love who are comparable to pippen/grant and pippen/Rodman. Durant, however, only won with super teams.

@@freestylingwhistler Who brought in Durant to the conversation? Why didn't he stay in Cleveland the first time after getting swept and quitting against Boston? Because it was too hard. Why didn't he stay in Miami after getting crushed by Spurs. Because it was too hard. Why didn't he stay in Cleveland the second time after getting swept? Because it was too hard. Why didn't he build the Lakers team instead of taking the short cut and bringing in Anthony Davis? Because it was too hard.

WRONG! Players today are not doing the things MJ did, especially in terms of creativity and improvisation in mid air. The move he did against New Jersey in 91 has not been seen in the league since then. That's just one of many.

LeBron HAS missed free throws to lose games, and he did get lambasted for it by all of the talking heads. Every great player has missed big shots. It happens. The important thing is how they respond to missing those big shots. In Jordan's case, he came back the very next game and hit a buzzer beater to win the series.
