Pat Metheny Group - Here To Stay (We Live Here, Live in Japan)
Available Now: mercury-studio...
Some six years after their previous studio album, the Pat Metheny Group regathered in 1995 to release the album "We Live Here". This was to be the first of a set of three albums that the band refer to as the "triptych", the others being "Quartet" (1996) and "Imaginary Day" (1997). Following the release of the album the Pat Metheny Group embarked on a world tour during which this concert was filmed in Japan. Many of the tracks from the "We Live Here" album are included along with others from their various eighties albums. There are short interview segments with the band members inserted between some of the songs which give an insight into the creation of the album and life on the tour.

I absolutely love this song, it’s one of my favorites, from Pat, and Lyle. It’s the kind of song, that makes you want to get out of your chair, and dance your cares away❤

And I did just that the two times I saw the group perform "Her To Stay" live! I encountered Pat on Amsterdam Avenue in New York one day about twenty years ago. He actually stopped to chat. One thing I suddenly wanted to say to him was , "I think We Live Here is your happiest album ever." Pat seemed a little caught off-guard by my comment, but then he smiled and said, "I guess maybe it is." mmm

It doesn't get any better than Pat Metheny live. A true jazz virtuoso guitarist, composer and band leader, and boy does he know how to keep good musical company; Lyle Mays, Steve Rodby, Paul Ertico, David Blamires, Mark Ledford and Luis Conte.

He conveys a spiritual quality in his music that is beyond compare, I don't know of any other artist that can make me visualize through their music like Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. I could spend an entire day listening to them, and their live performance is always note for note perfect. There really is nobody like them.

Obrigado Pat!

My wife bought for me, on my 50th birthday, this PM100 model. i'm 61 now, and been playing jazz since I was a kid. I agree with your words about the album. It is marvelously filled with his magic. She asked my musician friends which guitar to get me-The consensus was this black Ibanez. They knew what I loved. The guitar is amazing. It never lets me down. I try not to think about Mr. Metheny while I play. But sometimes I can't help but here that tone in my ears and it's a total love moment. Music-My wife-Metheny-Music-Magic.... Mmmm.... delicious.

Well, I don't think the sound is too bad in this case. But in general I agree. Sound mixing asks for both skills and talent just as playing an instrument. The person on the faders should be considered to be a musician himself. But in real life and small clubs they often ask the caretaker to do the mix...
