But yeah, the bass solo feels like it progresses to an outer body and soul experience. Also, George Benson and his influences preceding him. To me, Pat finding Lyle was an intentional destiny. 2023, and I miss Lyle more than any musician or entertainer who has come and gone in my lifetime. Yes, I miss Freddie, MJ, Bowie, Prince, and Whitney, but no one else's music plays in the background in my head on the daily. No one else's music made me reach deep and do deep reading of old interviews and personal background, find their influences and give that music a listen. Lyle must truly have been from another dimension.

As a musician, i couldn't reallly appreciate his solos fully listening to this growing up (except on a superficial level), but now in my mid 30's i can hear and recognize all the different subdivisions, and you're right, it's amazingly accurate. The coolest thing of all is he's holding the straight 4 count on cowbell the whole time, and everything is in perfect sync.

5 exceptionally brilliant solos, each a completely unique approach. Lyle’s full of harmonic twists, Cuong Vu creamy boppiness, Bona joyous personal expression, Sanchez superhuman pulse and rhythmic strength, and then my favourite Pat solo on KZbin - pure melodic impulse, ripping through the tune. When he pushes the gr300 up an octave I get chills.

Wow, blown away! Long time Matheny and Mays fan, but something magic happened this time lol I got it... it "grabbed" me, and I realized just how amazingly good this performance is! Each artist is tapped in and play as if they're in each other's heads... seamlessly. Music this good is on a whole different level- it really is art. The synthesizer effect on guitar- classic Pat Matheny! The chorus doubled by the trumpet, and voice layer of Bona.. back to Wow! The keyboard solo going from piano to synth magically in the middle of chords. How about the band cues on the drum solo- another level! Tight, but loose... loosely tight. The George Benson-like scatting on bass! Great use of volume dynamics. Is that the artists, soundman, or both? A big shout out to the camera man also, who obviously knows the music. That makes or breaks a video. Excellent job! Jazz fusion is not enough to describe music this intelligent, and entertainingly good!? Thank you for posting. Thank you Pat Matheny Group for all the wonderful, artistic music over the years. Like many- I'm sure, this is the music I hum throughout the day... the soundtrack of our lives 🎶🙏
