I didn't get this dvd/cd when it came out because it looked like it was his previous record Orchestrion all over again. Sounds well "here", maybe better than the original cd, but I think the dvd should have focused on all the mechanical parts, rather than just Pat, and also had regular lighting, rather than concert stage darkness, to show the mechanical band "at work". as it is, you can hear but not see most of what's played other than the guitar and one or two glimpses of the piano or vibes. Correction: just realised I did get the cd but totally forgot it. Maybe I should have got the dvd :)

Yeah, a little confusing, but I can see (hear) why he recorded an Orchestrion "redux." His tweaking of the old into new versions had something to say, and he's probably spot on in releasing the new arrangements. Besides, who else would re-release new arrangements as Pat's done? Not many other artists, for sure!

I get what you mean, I would also really like to see details of the machinery at work. Pat has created a complete environment with the lights sparked by each note moving around the orchestrion,so he might want it presented with mood and mystery intact. It's quite an achievement; the conception, the collaboration with the team who designed and built the mechanicals, the compositions, and then the live and recorded performances.
