I absolutely adored Midnight Suns - the off-mission social link stuff can be a pace-killer, but the core gameplay is fantastic and I really admire any game that throws so much extra stuff at you purely for the hell of it.

Pat is very correct in comparing it to Ultimate Alliance, UA for me was my major intro to marvel as if gave a great overview of what marvel is as a whole, along with being a love letter to marvel. I got the same feeling playing Midnight Sons. I LOVE the game.

Oh Pat if you liked Dome Keeper you should try out Wall World. It's basically Dome Keeper but instead of just sitting there in a hole you move up and down a wall and dig into it from the side. It's much better than Dome Keeper in my opinion.

It was really nice and considerate of that Marvel Midnight Suns game to set such a low bar that all the other games Pat plays will have a fair chance. [Also, despite the wacky voice acting, Voidigo is an amazing game!]

A great game in the wrong time and place. If this was an xbox 360 era game selling for 30 bucks it would have been on everyone's radar, beloved for decades. But because they did such a shitty advertising job nobody noticed it. Immense shame.

Void Stranger is certainly a game that exists! I played it through completely, would not recommend it even in the slightest. It's a shame really, it looks cool, it acts cool, it's wholly miserable to actually engage with (not to mention the time sink and repetition, woof). Story drops the ball, too. It has a really, really good character driven start and middle, then it gets distracted by random nonsense by the end. One of those games where you're probably better off watching videos of it instead of actually playing it.

Having you start off with 10 seconds of beautiful gameboy aesthetic movement only to then shove you into the gungeon was certainly an interesting choice. Not a fan of puzzle games so it never had a chance with me but that transition alone was so jarring and disappointing when it didnt need to be. Pat's "wtf i move like shit now" sums up my thoughts pretty well

​@@kingkino2116 If you're aware that the game will switch to grid movement at some point, the transition feels pretty good. It's like 'oh boy, here we go! the game is starting!'. For what it's worth, it's very good at that grid movement: your inputs are queued (not eaten) and your actions are taken immediately. Still, if you wanted a puzzle game with more 'zelda' style movement, I can see it being disappointing.
