I think I figured out what’s wrong with Lily Gao’s performance: it’s her first voice acting role. Her filmography is all live action stuff. I know its hard to imagine but voice acting can be very different than regular acting. Just because someone’s skilled at acting behind a camera doesn’t mean they’ll be good behind a mic.

A lot of actors think VA work is gonna be some easy low effort gig, and they end up giving lazy uninspired performances... which is exactly what we got with this Ada. I don't know why they didn't just use the girl from REmake2 that did Ada, she was fine.

@@thelaughingrouge Idk if that's relevant 9 months later, but I think Capcom dtopped her, cause it's been known to not work with union VAs and she's the one. Also, she's white and that might've also affected decision, since it's the first time Ada has an asian VA. But mostly it's just a "save money" thing.

Why does no one ever mention the most baffling part of Re6? Leon is willing to shoot Chris over Ada. He says to Chris that he trusts Ada even though his interactions with her have been her lying about her identity, manipulating him, stealing the plagas from him, and trying to kill him. He doesn't even know her real freaking name. He spent a half hour with her in Raccoon City over a decade before Re6 and for some reason he's obsessed with her. Its ridiculous.

The problem is she hits about 80% of her lines, but then you get to 1:17:30 and she brings the worst line delivery of the franchise in almost a decade. They aren't even like first takes, it's like the digitally stitched together her warmup take with her first take.

her voice sounds fine, it's just the delivery. she sounds awkward and flat, especially compared to the more animated and exaggerated acting of everyone else. sure she's a super spy, but even her one liners sounded lame and out of place only because of how she delivered it. well, to me at least.

I really dont get the hate for Ada's voice. Everyone has always sounded weird and stilted in RE. New leon sounds just as bored and flat, hes just hot. Honestly the worst thing about Ada's new voice is that her mic quality sounds way different than everyone elses and really takes me out of it. I personally think both new leon and ada are written to have way less character than they used to while ashley and luis both got incredible new material to work with and actually have character. They wrote Ada to be stiff and boring and thats represented in the performance. Same with Wesker imo.

It makes me sad to see people crapping on Ada's voice actor so much. Like, the performance is bad, but it really feels like it's bad direction more than anything. Like, either the director needed to step in and say, "could we try that again with a little more emotion?" Or, worse, the director needed to butt the f out and not tell her to deliver such a flat performance.

Yeah, i decided to look up other things the VA has acted in, and it's definitely a direction problem. She is a capable actor, but for some reason, they made her read all her lines like she's a plank of wood.
