Patagonia Landscape Photography: Hiking the Laguna Torre Trail

Hello there folks, how is it going? I hope you are all doing really great and enjoying your Sunday!
In this week's video, we embark on a hike that I have wanted to do ever since I first heard about it many years ago: the Laguna Torre trail. Now let me start by saying that the mountain decided to stay in bed on this day, but wow, what an experience it was.
Hiking the Laguna Torre trail in Argentina's Los Glaciares National Park offers breathtaking views of Cerro Torre and its majestic peaks. This 18-kilometer round-trip trail takes you through diverse landscapes, including lush forests and scenic valleys. At the trail's end, you can enjoy a stunning panorama of glacial lakes icebergs and mountain reflections, making it a top bucket list must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and landscape photographers. As you will see from the video, we got the reflections in the lake, epic light in the clouds, but no peaks.
Such is the way of things in landscape photography. It is easy to have a high expectation for a location as iconic as this, and it is hard not to feel a little disappointed when things don't shape up as you wanted.
In saying all that, though, the walk back was absolutely wonderful! Bursting with color, laughter, and great company. I am so thrilled with how everything turned out and I am super excited to return to hike the Laguna Torre trail again. The landscape photography opportunities are just too much of a draw to never return, so return I must!

Loved the video. I like the ICM image. In small doses and with the right composition, it's fairly attractive. Yours made it look like a photo converted to a painting in Impressionist style. To be honest, for most of us, ICM is actually UCM - unintentional camera movement. I didn't care for the black and white image. The composition doesn't provide enough context to know what it is, but if it provided you with opportunity to dial in your settings, then it's a great image.

Haha 'UCM' I am all too familiar with that 😂🤣 I appreciate the feedback, as I mention the black and white images I am still super new to figuring out what works and doesn't etc so I am always open to any and all thoughts behind an image. But as you say, at least it was a nice opportunity for me to practice a bit more and even though I was unsure about it, I am glad to have shared it none the less 👍🤗

Yay... got a mention... *blushes* I did some ICM many years back. Seeing your result I might need to experiment again. On the B&W I think the pure black third on the top is a bit overwhelming. Might be nice to have some structure left up there.

Haha nice one Philip 👍 Yeah the ICM stuff, I am not entirely too sure about but I'd like to try it again soon. I'll go back to the drawing board on the B&W and see what magic we can muster 👍
