Whoa, you are rocking that jacket my man! 💪. I've had the original since 2017 (and in fact headed out for the JMT with it soon), the new one looks pretty awesome. What about the weight/amount of loft material (same material?) relative to my old one? Hope you and your wife are recovering from Riley's passing.. take care.. oh yea.. a pic of da man Cory! Can't wait to see all of your Patagonia reviews!! Seems like Patagonia and Arctery'x designs fit my old body best 🙂
@Engearment2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! They use recycled fish nets (called NetPlus) and they rare the jacket slightly warmer than the previous version. Making it their lightest, warmest jacket that is packable. Thanks for the empathy for my wife and I. It’s getting better. Chloe is doing better too. Corey is the man! Lots of great reviews from the team, coming up! 🙌🙌🙌

Love the micro puff. Maybe my fav synthetic jacket along with anything filled with what’s called coreloft from arcteryx

Yep, here comes trouble again....finally got the chance to look at these too... I like the new fit, the sleeves and cuff area all good, which is my problem now with the down sweater hoody as you know... only slight down side for me is the smaller stash pockets... mainly because I really liked the deeper hand pockets it offered, on the outside and the zip pocket option that goes with it... Still - it remains up there as one of my fave jackets... As you were...

I use the micro puff vest when the temps get mega cold along with two layers of Smartwool and my Patagonia or TNF shell jackets. VERY warm. Looking forward to see what other Patagonia you can review.
@Engearment2 жыл бұрын
Heck yes! I had not thought of the vest option, but that is a very good application! You get some serious temps up there in BC. This new version is made from recycled fishing nets. Pretty cool that they can repurpose that material.

Your review was very helpful. I picked one up couple of weeks ago and it's probably my favorite jacket I own. This is my 4th Patagonia jacket, but first time owning one with a hoodie. I love the feel and fitment on this quite a lot and no issues with the drop pockets being lower for me. Wish the zipper string had a plastic knob at the tip, but I understand why they ditched it. Thanks and take care!

Great to hear! Stoked it is your favorite jacket! I have an idea for the zipper, you can add a bigger pull tab. I often do this for Ultralight gear. Because I am ofetn wearing thicker gloves and really like to be able to access the zipper at all times. Hope that helps! Take care :)

I cannot detect any difference in fit from the older version which is a disappointment but the bottom hem adjustment is a welcome addition. I cannot wear medium as it fails your ‘hug’ test but the large is just as boxy as before for me. Just tried on my Das Light and it is slimmer in fit than the micro puff. This is the fix Patagonia needed to make and I am afraid they have failed it in my opinion.

I got the new DAS Light and the Micro Puff Jackets on the recent Patagonia sale and gotta say they missed the mark on the DAS Light - I think all I really want is a micropuff with 2 way zipper and a helmet hood. I bring different shells for different conditions and honestly - the EE Torrid jacket I have is warmer and feels better than the Das Light (doesn't have a 2 way zipper but has a better hood and bottom cinch). I think I'm going to hold onto my Micro puff with the tags and see if they change it at all this year - or swap it for the jacket version. But have to say - that micro puff is one comfy jacket. You and I have the same dimmensions and the XL fits like a dream. BTW - selling my EE Torrid Apex Pullover 20D/10D Large Long with helmet hood. Let me know if you're interested in one for testing (it's brand new) - 4 month wait list right now...... Really enjoy your videos to help with comparisons.

Hello Josh! Thanks for the very helpful note! Bummer on the DAS Light not being for you. sounds like it had lots of what you wanted, but missed the mark. I can tell you that Mattis Yahoo Sessel and myself are fans of it. But, to each their own and there is SO MUCH good gear out there! Like your EE Torrid. I will have to look into that! I am all about zips (and double zips!) so the pullover freaks me out LOL. Otherwise I would jump on that opportunity. Thanks for thinking of us. And THANK YOU for the support Josh. Take care! - Sean

Great review. Has the new version an adjustable hem? Going back and forth between the Micro puff and Atom Lt 🤔

Oh man. That’s a really tuff call. Both are sooo good. And both (at least the ones we tested) have adjustable hems. Can’t go wrong with either.

Hello! We will have a review on the new down sweater here soon. There was some updates to the Fall 2022 version. Saw it in person last week when we met with Patagonia. They keep improving their gear! 🙌. Thanks for the nice note from Germany. Take care!

Hey Sean, I found you and your channel randomly and I just love it! I like your video style quite a lot. Quick and focused on the most important things :) I've one question: Do you think one needs a Micro Puff and Nano Air? I decided to invest in a proper hardshell (Patagonia Dual Ascent) and currently try to get the rest of the gear together. Thanks and keep on rocking!
@Engearment2 жыл бұрын
Hello Christian! Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate that. Good question. I love the Nano Air and find myself using it often. If you have a down or synthetic puffy already, you can get the Nano Air and be set. I do like using both though. Micro Puff for warmth while static, Nano Air for warmth while moving. Hope that helps my friend!

Thanks! The matte finish is really nice. It is still a 10D material (NetPlus instead of Pertex this time) I have had the OG Micro Puff (with Pertex 10D) for 5 years and it is still doing well. Hope that helps!
