It ain't a significant rework, VPR just lost the debuff. Potencies were adjusted to compensate. This was their promised "make the job less busy" change. We no longer have to track the debuff. This actually makes double Reawaken burst *absolutely braindead* to pull off. The Venoms were made 60 seconds just to match VPR to the other melee, whose combo chain lasts for 60 seconds.

@@dantedaz3864 The problem with meikyo is that it force you to press specific button on GCD window within specific time. This change basically make it easier by taking out one button to press while not pressing you into specific time window to proc your Tsubame. It literally making the job easier to handle for casual than the opposite. It cost... bloody nothing.

Ice paradox returns!. To all those saying that that SAM was nerfed it wasn’t. You double midare literally every single midare now so they adjusted potencies accordingly, but overall it’s actually a dps buff. They were going to change positionals on Viper, but due to heavy player feedback saying they liked them they decided to keep them. This is why i stress even if you enjoy something GIVE FEEDBACK. The devs listen (sometimes too much) but that’s why even if you’re enjoying yourself it’s still important that you give feedback.

@@shirox11 midare has had 2 hits with it since DT launch. I think you mean 2 extra setsugekka. Midareis a 30 second recast with 2 stacks. The setsugekka combo is 8 abilities with average 2.5 second gcd. So 20 seconds. Thats at most 3 a minute which is 1 extra a minute over midare. And midare will still give the 2 hit since it still allows all finishers to be used. The numbers might still end in a net gain but its 1 more use of setsugekka vs -130 potency per 8 hit combo + -80 potency to zenshin + -120 potency for the finishers used during midare + -60 potency for setsugekka alone.

@@VideoHostSite Ehhh, I'd argue that Pld was at least in a better spot than Drk, sure it had even less damage than drk, but it had a identity/niche of it's own, being the defensive utility tank...What does Drk have that the other tanks don't do better than it? (2nd) lowest damage, worst mitigation, and no self-sustain, you'd think with the worst mitigation and the lack of self-sustain it would at least be on the top of damage, but Gnb is, and Gnb has pretty good mitigation and some self-sustain..So what reason other than liking the (really cool) aesthetic would you play it over Gnb or any other tank, when it's the worst at being a tank and doing damage?

remove level sync. speaking as a semi new player the level sync system needs to be massively reworked or removed. you should not lose your rotation in any content once you are 100 on the job, its massively frustrating for some classes and feels terrible to play.

@@yungchimpagreed 100% and i don't see people talk about it a lot. you're meant to master your job but constantly have to flip flop down to lower and higher level rotations muddying the waters. a lot of people level one job and over-level the msq so they have cool abilities but go into dungeons or raids and can't even use them yet. gives people the wrong idea. dated system for sure.

Paradox and Umbral Soul changes are huge and is everything we Black Mages wanted. Black Mages definetly won in this patch. The potency changes and how good they are comparing to the other jobs remain to be seen tho. Meta-wise it should always be the highest compared to the other ranged DPS since it doesn't have any utilities, so pictomancer is the big elephant in the room right now since it does have utility and it's been doing too much damage for the last patch, it needs to go below Black Mage.

I really appreciate the condensed nature of this. I'm pretty happy to see that they did NOT nerf Pictomancer as that's my main and I personally felt like they set it where they wanted it to be as they actually buffed it going into the expansion and it was maybe other jobs that weren't quite where they needed to be. Also, the fact that they buffed Reaper is interesting as to my knowledge it was actually top DPS in several fights already. I'll be interesting in checking out Viper to see how these changes work out. Like you said, it seems like they've basically removed Noxious Knash and added that additional potency back to the base kit itself. I'm personally more a fan of that then removing positionals as the flow of the job seemingly won't change from all this but I'll need to play it here shortly to see.

@VideoHostSite Lol, any class could turn it off by the same logic to see what is going on. And of all classes, yes, tank are the least busy, and by proxy, you can see when they crit or don't crit. Your playing the wrong game if you think big numbers is something tanks already do. Warrior literally has a theme around guaranteed crit resulting in consistent dps, gunbreaker focuses around lots of big hits but no guaranteed crit e.g. 1200potency skills. Your just wrong, and all I said what dark knight could use a bigger number on it's finisher so it is more satisfying to press.

I hate the Viper change for the following reasons: 1. They gave us no notice they'd remove Noxious Gnash and force you to start only following the glowing buttons making it more braindead autopilot, catering to the lowest common denominator of people who aren't willing to learn the job properly, 2. Removing NG disconnects Dreadwinder- no, sorry, Vicewinder (eugh) and Vicepit from the rest of the kit and even to some degree Reawaken, 3. Making it an endless combo changes it from 2 buttons to watch to now constantly watching the hotbar to make sure you don't misinput also getting you trapped in a neverending combo that also is easy to lose your place thanks to transforming buttons or shifting your mental focus elsewhere like Vicewinder or a boss encounter, 4. There was expression on when and how you apply NG, like do you double up at the start or do you continue alternating? Do you start Reawaken or go for an Uncoiled Fury depending on your time? Did you set yourself up in advance with enough time and/or a Dreadwinder? That kinda stuff. 5. It wasn't replaced with anything, it was just taken out and given a band-aid solution to keep the general rotation going without thinking about the ripple effect it would have, 6. Noxious Gnash served as a better visual queue for whether you needed to start on 1 or not, and then you got to choose when to start on 2. That was fully in your control before, now it's not, which leads to my last point: 7. A lot of the "free-flow" identity of the job got destroyed and replaced with something spammier and more monotonous and clunky to play. There was more emphasis on setup and payoff (properly managing NG timing) that required some actual skill that paid off in heavier-hitting Reawakens and Uncoiled Fury's if you knew what you were doing. The nuance was in the fine details and how controlling your NG buff and timing let you control that freeflow of your own accord, but now it's literally only follow-the-buttons. Dumbed down yet smaller margin of error. It sucks. Change it back to 7.01.

I like the Viper changes. Having to reapply debuff when you're mid-combo (can't reapply unless you finish it first) and then there's downtime enough for it to drops, is just painful. But the potency ups seem to be between 13-15% while the debuff is 10%, dunno how the intricacies around dmg calc but at a glance the changes look like a net buff tbh.

Blackmage got a 5.1% overall dps buff which is nice. It is moving in the right direction but it still feels like we have a knife to our throats with the rotation with the addition of Flare Star. Honestly if they revert the changes they made to thunder, I would be absolutely happy. But, baby steps.

Ice paradox coming back will probably be huge for blms. If it gives back mp, it might bring back some "skip-blizzard 4" transpose lines when boss is about to leave arena, and will add to mobility in umbral ice. The only thing i'm still iffy about is the no double dot thing, but besides DSR and TEA, it's not really something you'll notice.

Doesn't feel enough to make BLM higher than Picto and that job is so braindead to play and still does the much damage for a utility without raise job while BLM is a pure raw selfish caster with zero buffs to party

@ChandaniAranka thunder will remain the same, it's just less frontloaded. 1 tick every 3 secs for 30 secs, so 10 ticks of 5 potency increase on the dot, while 50 potency removed on application, same thing. High Fire II is already not used at 100, so increases to flare are flat increases. All the potency increases to fire iv and despair will be further enhanced by astral fire, and enochian now has a flat 3% increase. We'll have to see how it translates in overall numbers, but this is undeniably a substantial buff. Also the whole PCT argument is moot to me. I've been a blm main since FFXI, back in 2003, I play BLM for its identity as the master of destruction and will never switch to Bob Ross and his paintbrush... I hate PCT with a passion, not for its gameplay, but for identity reasons.

It's still been fun in 7.0 if you like the playstyle, just a bit clunky with mana in my opinion between pulls. The umbral soul change is great in my opinion, so now we can regen mana between pulls in dungeons. Still annoying that we don't get non-standard rotations, but I dont see that being changed based on the new skills at lvl 100.

So the changes are good, but thunder needs to last longer the fights have too much movement to refresh this buff properly without dropping flare star or losing out on dps, speaking of flare star, why does it do less damage than paradox when its harder to get, adding a critical direct hit guarenteed to flare star would actually help it. Leylines needs to do more than it does to be viable to bring black mage to savage content. But it does feel better to play at the moment.

I am really disappointed in the Samurai change. I was planning to prog with Samurai, but I think I'll be going as a tank after the changes. Putting more importance on Meikyo was what got me excited about this Samurai iteration and walking it back just makes me go meh on the job.

A few things to note; BLM got a huge nerf to aoe, not a buff. Samurai complete nerf but it makes up for it since now anytime you complete a combo you can Tsubame. Viper's rework is interesting, but unsure how it'll play out.

I'm just glad Picto wasn't nerfed, I will die on the hill that it doesn't need nerfs. I'm honestly confused by some of these. Reaper and Viper getting buffs/quality of life is a choice, those 2 already seemed like the top DPS in general, at least from content I've been doing. BLM I'm mixed on still, some good changes but it still has some big pain points for me.

I'm curious why you feel Picto doesn't need a nerf (My gf LOVES picto, so not trying to stir anything up; genuinely curious as someone who has only barely played Picto yet, and have heard and somewhat observed that its damage seems much higher than other jobs).

Right^^ I just saw black mage get half nerfed and half buffed. I don't play that class so idk if it's a so-called fair buff, but it makes me wonder if this expansion the devs want black mage to be mid tier while picto takes its place with all the nukes and dps.

@@Kylan22 Because it's harder to play effectively than VPR or RPR for most players. PCT having a slightly higher damage ceiling for the best players doesn't warrant a nerf IMO. Also they have the least actions per second so you lose more if you mess up, drop a long cast, etc. Similar with BLM, you lose a lot if you miss all your fire 4 casts. And Picto doesn't have raise so it's also in the same predicament as BLM where they need to do enough DPS to outweigh the safety net from SMN and RDM and the extreme simplicity of SMN meaning it's super consistent. I don't think the top melees are harder or anything that means they absolutely have to be the top DPS ceiling. Especially RPR since it has a buff too and heals but it's very easy to play. I just don't see the logic behind nerfing PCT instead of bringing BLM up and some of the melee that needed it. Especially now seeing that they buffed RPR, it's hard to complain about PCT and ignore that.

@@kyrxon277 I think they just don't know what to do with BLM. It feels like the changes were meant to replace the timer, like to retain the difficulty by removing a lot of movement and flexibility but they kept the timer so it just feels insanely restrictive, punishing and hard to play without a pay off in DPS that justifies it. To me, BLM should have the highest ceiling, especially after the changes. I'm just confused trying to understand what they're trying to do with BLM. The fights have so much movement and chaos now but they made BLM so inflexible and immobile by comparison to EW.

@@mismismism I'll 100% agree that long cast jobs like BLM and Picto are harder to play well than something like Samurai or Reaper (generally prefer melee in this game overall as they're usually faster paced), but shouldn't BLM outdps Picto (if nothing else) purely by virtue that Picto is less "selfish" than BLM? (as in brings some utility, whereas BLM brings none, like the selfish melee Samurai and Viper, or Machinist compared to Bard and Dancer). I don't want to see the job nerfed into oblivion, as like I said my GF has fallen in love with it (she might even like it more than she likes Dancer), but it just seems quite strong for a less selfish dps. My question becomes, all things equal, why would one ever bring a BLM over a Picto? (not a truly solid argument, because you have to consider gear, player skill and experience, latency, and etc, but still something to consider).

So SAM got another nerf huh? They must think this purely dps no utility job is too strong. While the other melee keeps getting buffed as for drk they must hate it and gnb since those 2 keep getting screwed while pld and war yes war keeps getting buffs looks like the classes aren't so balanced after welcome to the WoW segment where some classes are broken while others are screwed

This game objectively has one of the best balances across all major MMOs. We don't complain because it's bad, we complain because we want it to be better. There's a smaller dps difference between the highest and the lowest rDPS jobs in FFXIV than there is between the highest and 3rd highest DPS in WoW.

@@micman963 i was thinking that but i get a feeling reducing everything will still nerf more than roughly 2 more setsugeka per cycle. But i will have to test it to see.
