I was a loyal cable-paying customer with Rogers for over 30 years. Eventually, I decided it was getting far too expensive, so I cut the cord. What I didn’t realize was that Rogers and Bell Canada don’t make it easy to watch the Leafs if you live in southern Ontario. Without cable, you’re forced to subscribe to both Sportsnet+ and TSN to avoid blackouts, which costs well over $200 just to watch Leafs games. I used to be a “Canada first” kind of person, but not anymore. Neither company seems to care about their customers enough to offer a comprehensive package-forcing fans to pay for both. If Amazon steps in, secures the NHL rights, and eliminates blackouts, I’ll be counting the days. I can’t wait!

If the NHL doesn't have a season pass with a "home team" option for 82 games of your "home team" THEN THEY FAILED. Fans want a universal end to blackouts for their favorite team, not a random selection of games each night. More is better, but if every package doesn't start with 82 games guaranteed....I'm out.

The CBC should be required to stream any NHL game happening in Canada, as well as any game featuring a Canadian team.

Minimum every game where both teams are Canadian. The whole point of the CBC is elevating Canadian content so it doesn't get buried under a mountain of American content that has way more marketing behind it

Yeah I don’t understand the logic behind which games are blacked out. Regularly I WONT be able to watch an ottawa game or a Vancouver game, but Dallas vs LA will be on. WTF IS THAT. last night ottawa was the only game on and I COULD NOT WATCH IT. it’s not that my sports package had the rights to a different game than the one I wanted, they literally just decided to air nothing and not let me watch anything. Great. Guess I’ll watch Netflix and turn my cable off. Good job cable, guess you didn’t want people using cable.

I agree with removing the offside challenge, 95% of the time the player was only offside by like 1-2 inches or its inconclusive, this is not in the spirit of the challenge and the sport as a whole. Also agree with automatic goal for goalie sliding out of the net lol

Easy Offside and Goalie Interference fix, put an extra ref off ice, with dedicated screens for each blue line and crease, constantly monitoring directly, he can review every entry live within 30 seconds and blow the play dead if the on ice ref misses it, then take away offside challenges all together. If it’s close enough that the on ice and off ice refs can’t catch it then it’s close enough to count! Same thing with Goalie Interference, the off ice ref can review every goal immediately and help the on ice refs (only IF there’s a challenge) which will speed up challenge times.

Every close zone entry the opposing teams Video guys are checked and they know if it’s offside before a goal is even scored so what you could do is have those guys of another ref in a video room call the play dead

so for me offside should be One of two things. One the team has time to set up (all 5 players in off zone) it should be a good goal. 2 if the shot or rebound is immediate and goes in. IE a Player has a long pass the player breaks in shoots scores thats offside the player shoots save rebound save shot in that's a good goal because at that point u had the chance to clear too bad.

Viewership isn't down. If anything, it continues to go up as people can't afford the cost of tickets. More and more viewers have canceled their tv packages and moved over to VPNs with illegal streams from offshore servers. Nowadays, computers have the resolution output plus the processing speed to drive a large-enough tv with great signals. It might not match the highest res tv signals, and there are occasional blips and buffering, but it's more than adequate for those who can't afford the egregious cable tv contracts and have blackout headaches.

How is it possible that cheap raptors tickets are like 40$, and Scottie Barnes is about to make the same as the entire core 4, and the raptors as a whole have DOUBLE the team salary that the leafs have….all supported off 40$ tickets. Mark Bellhorne in the WS for the Sox I will never forget that homerun. He was probably the worst hitter on the team and he just smoked a shot it was probably his career highlight and it wouldn't have happened with that rule. I don’t think it’s a major reason, but I think all the tinkering has contributed to the nba viewership. The change to the all star game, the in-season tournament, etc. The nba feels kind of gimmicky right now. NHL should learn from that, don’t mess with certain traditions ppl enjoy for a sugar rush. Wrestling promoters learned this… if you bombard a town with constant gimmicks, eventually they wear off and you “burnout a town.” P.S the nhl is just behind the epl in terms of wealth… it’s not as Mickey Mouse as we are making it out to be

The NBA ratings are partially the product and partially who they target. The NBA exploded because of highlights and those clips are what people are looking for versus watching a whole game. I played organized basketball my entire childhood I've been to NBA games for a last-place team and I haven't watched a non playoff NBA game in at least 5 years. I can't stand how many times the game stops because of a soft call or watching the best players cry constantly to the refs. As a Boston fan Tatum is 1 of the worst offenders especially if his shot isn't falling he knows he can throw his hands up get a pair of easy points and get his shot going again.

I could buy pirating being a major factor in ratings if the other sports also had down viewership. I think the NBA problem is just not enough focus on the younger plays. Media still covers Lebron and Steph and not enough focus on the new stars like SGA. Say what you will about the product but the NBA will be fine long term once they refocus on marketing young players again. Right now no cares about the Thunder, Rockets, or Magic despite them being among the top teams

Video room is not good. They took away a goal from NJ vs Aves. Puck went in the net and the ref blew the whistle to late. Theres more problem than refs. Puck was moving and ref blew it after it was still loose.

Oilers had basically the same thing where they shot the puck, it hit the goalie, fell behind him and the ref whistled it down as the Oiler shot the puck into the net on an uber quick whistle.

Also the Bronny James thing is overblown as apparently he's terrible. Plus since he had that Cardiac arrest IMO its amazing but odd that doctors are allowing him to play NBA basketball as sometimes one of the things they will tell u after a cardiac arrest/heart attack (I believe there's a tech difference not sure) is stop playing sports and only light exercise such as walking. I don't think u're even suppose to shovel snow or cut ur lawn for like two-5 years after a cardiac arrest. One of Bronny's critiques is that he doesnt get back on D. My suspicion says he physically CAN'T GET BACK on D. I don't know if Lebron is using his influence to force the NBA to allow Bronny to play but its a good thing he's over 18 otherwise I would call child abuse.

Im here in the states and also had, keyword... had youtube tv. Im also in a market that that needs a regional sports network to watch his team. The upgrade is pissing everyone off because they added NO NEW THINGS. Raise rates and no no channels or features? Bite me. Went over to driect tv so yeah itll cost me maybe 20.00 more a month, but I GET MY SPORTS OFF RSN's which are included (granted that tacks on 10.00 a monht). YTTV always said the fee was too high we dont wanna pay it blah blah... they are probably right, they also made zero effort to rectify it. Then Diamond media group just pulled themselves off EVERY streaming service for the most part. Fanduel (ballys) month to month is 20.00 a month. Watching sports is just so fuciked right now. Oh gee which streaming service will I have to chase down now to watch a certain team. Its just gottaen stupid.
