While it's good to share such songs with close family and friends, that's not a requirement. It's about celebrating life, and we all can do that in our own way. As we get older it's really hard to find community. While I can't offer that from so far away I can say there is certainly common ground. Something we all could use more of all over the world.

I just saw a performance of this last night at Christmas in the Park concert in Auckland with 100,000 people in the crowd. Never been so proud of New Zealand /Aotearoa. I have family in Patea where this was made. What a joy to read the positive comments from around the world.❤

I can’t believe I actually managed to find this song after all these years. The last and only time I ever saw/heard this being performed was on the Royal Variety Performance during the 80’s in the UK when I was a kid and totally fell in love with it. Man this made me tear up a little, thinking of the “ready to roll” nz music charts and us kids would be so sick of a no. 1 being played for months. This and Michael Jackson was forever. But now, I think it’s a beautiful song that captured the spirit of everyday kiwis perfectly in film and music.
