This a great procedure! My birth mom died of a blood clot to her brain, likely from a PFO, at age 46. At 49, my PFO was discovered and closed with PFO surgery. So thankful my doctors pushed for testing and I was able to successfully get the surgery.

I'm going to have this procedure in about 2 weeks. I'm freaking out a bit . That's why I'm spending some time watching videos over this subject.

I’m having my PFO Closure on July 12 and pretty stressed about it. I had a stroke at 65 and they discovered I had a PFO, however I was never told. The reason was I was 65 and my insurance probably would not have covered it. Want to get a knee replacement and need to have the pfo closure before the surgery. Please let me know if you are over 65 and have had a PFO closure and how did you feel afterwards

Have a PFO, had a stroke last year. 6+ weeks of speech therapy etc. Cardiologist hasn't even mentioned closure. I continue to be apprehensive day to day. Thoughts?

Speak to your stroke neurologist first. Have a RoPE score and PASCAL classification to risk classify yourself for closure? The question is do you really need it? Or is there a more obvious cause of stroke? This is a marketing gig.

My neurologist had to advise my cardiologist to refer me to the IR cardiologist for closure. They had to be satisfied that the PFO was the cause of my stroke first. Talk to your neurologist! How are you doing now. My stroke caused aphasia, as well, and wondering if you have recovered. I am 2 months out from mine.

Hello I had a stroke 2009 My cardiologist found I had a PFO but wouldn’t recommend closure. 10 years after he referred me to heart specialist This surgeon wouldn’t do closure because my protein c level for clotting was slightly off and indicated I still needed to be on blood thinner 5mg twice daily. This is not right
@bonran4 ай бұрын
Have you had a stroke on blood thinner? Having a foreign body in your heart with a blood clotting disorder is not the best idea. You will form clots on the device. You will need the blood thinner for life anyway.

No I was never on any medication up until I had the stroke. Always fit good medical condition. But heart surgeon would not do closure saying I would still need to be on a blood thinner since they found protein c level was slightly lower. I think the closure should still be done.

They have a procedure called the NobleStitch that does not leave a device implanted like this. I won't get what they are showing bc im allergic to nickel.
