I am very confused where should I consider the magnetic field direction when its into the page

it is away from you and towards a paper or board(whatever infront of u ) most of the time right or east direction is positive X and north or up is positive Y into the page is positive Z direction in this time an arrow pointing towards you indicates out of the page and it is in the negative Z direction.

There should be a component of force in the direction of velocity, for changing the magnitude of velocity, since these forces are perpendicular to velocity there should not be any change in velocity. Ig you've gotta learn circular motion for this.

@@devotioadorat313 I think he meant about addition of two vectors which is possible here, as the path of the particle changes... Vector sum of two vectors can be done easily by triangle law or by applying the formula =(A^2 + B^2 +2AB*Cos(theta))^1/2. Where A and B are the two vectors with theta angle b/w them..
