Great tips for a total PoE noob . This game is very complex and confusing and the fact i turn 70y old in march doesnt make it easier 4me . Heres a fun one.. use herald of ice and put lighting on it, it will make it cause lighting but half its ice dmg. Then yse herald of lighting and put ice on it. It will cause it to do ice dmg but half its lighting dng. It doesnt make sense but holy shit watch the maps blow up. They go back and forth procing eachother.

Today i corupted my 2 full quality stacked Main 5 link skills and both rolled to 6 link adding an extra Socket. I feel blessed. Couldnt even buy new ones cuz i am broke.

I see people using mouse pull up their skill menu and it's more detailed than the one that comes up when I pull it up using controller. Sometimes when I want to see the one with more detail I back out to character select and sign back in with mouse because it's the only way I've figured out how to get to it.

It’s useful to know some basic scaling math when making a build. For instance, if the damage formula is D = A * B, then (all things being equal) you want A and B to be roughly equal to maximize damage. This can be easily shown by taking A = x + a, B = x - a, thus D =(x+a)*(x-a)=x^2 - a^2, so it’s maximized when the difference between A and B is zero. This generalizes to any number of factors A, B, C and so on. To put it simply, as a rule of thumb you always want to be working on bringing the value of your smallest factor up to par with the others.

Also! If you don’t invest into crit as a lightning dmg dealer use the “lighting rod” perk It’ll will roll your dmg 2 times getting the best of the roll , math has been done on it and it basically increases your dmg by 30% if you don’t go crit

Personally I wouldn’t recommend using the skill screen to read dmg. Things that have multiple phases - gas grenade for example - the skill screen only portrays the poison damage and not the explosion damage. The explosion is nearly 100% of your damage with that skill and it is not shown what so ever on the damage screen. Open up your skill ability tab people it can save you!

Same with skill duration or proj speed for certain abilities. It can double your dmg without any change in the dmg tooltip. But this guy thinks mana per enemy killed is a important stat so this will be the last video i watched..

What us new POE2 players need is an in depth guide on how to sell items and use currency for console. Most tutorials are from a mouse and keyboard perspective but we dont have the same UI. I would sell items but how?

To sell items on the trading website you need to have a premium stache page. If you bought one, you need to get into the settings of one of your stache tabs and activate the trading. You can then put items into the stache and price them individually

Your ranger needs a bit of spirit mate. Cast on shock is not activated :p

@@smieltjeh It mostly used for single point damage. This build you use 2-3 other spirit skills. Then, when about to fight a boss active cast on shock. It takes 100 spirit. If you have more spirit you can have that and one of the herald spirit skills. But, can work with just 100 spirit.

Crit is not a good base layer. If you crit a trash attack you're sacrificing other stats that would increase your damage more for the same investment.

On console/PS5, when you try to craft a skill, the initial list you get is what the game recommends but if you press Square on your pad, it'll open the full list of gems you can craft

They aren’t called Grinding Gear Games for nothing my friend. How do you get stronger? Utilize the tools at your disposal, make sure you’re buffing your maps with orbs for better drops, use the trade website (assuming you’re not playing SSF), look at the items you’ve collected to understand what they do. You may be already sitting on an item that could give you a significant bump. Something important to note that it most cases, your weapon is going to provide the biggest damage boost in terms of where you are in your current progression. I’m not trying to come off as an elitest as I’m new to PoE 2 as well. I’m pushing t11 maps and these are just a few things I learned along the way. It’s important to understand that the depth of this game is wild and everything doesn’t play together like the tools tips suggest from a black and white understanding.

Your best bet is trading. You can sink a massive amount of time and currency into self found items and end up no better off. Use your exalts and try to find an expert weapon and lift this to 20% quality. Another tip is to think about improving your attack/cast speed to massively improve your dps. With this, you’ll find you can start taking on higher level maps and you’ll find more currency. When you find your first divine, think about using this to find a weapon that will serve you for a substantial amount of time. I bought an expert crossbow with my first divine and it completely transformed my character. Oh and don’t forget about your resistance!

I'm not sure if it takes into account the +3 lvl of melee skills for example, cause I was sure deceived by the little amount it got from it swapping my weapon VS my old +1 lvl melee. I also was realllyyy deceived from puting in my passive tree a jewel with a +9% global phys damage that didn't even show up to be a +100 on my already 5k skill DPS. I'm not saying they are wrong, mostly I didn't get something in that brain of mine, or else, they fk up somewhere real bad :P In the end, you gotta pay attention to the feel, and if you can't tell no difference, most likely there wasn't much of a difference. Until you realize you were using the power of your build wrong and you had some hidden nitro right under your nose all along but you just had no clue how to use it, or that it even was there in the first place >.>

It is quite nice to be over capped with elemental resistances, as some maps can lower your resistances. Been over capped negates this debuff
