Basically as you experienced it can happen if you crash, the servers snapshot of your inventory is not updated and you are rolled back to the latest one. So if you find something really valuable, it's advised to portal back and put it in your stash.

PoE2 will get more build diversity, still missing weapons, skills, supports, ascendency's, more uniques will come. Barely a month into EA, just need to be patient.
