im a dhampire minotaur with the charge feat. Charge in hit opponant and stay there until your rogue or someone comes over. Charge into the next enemy and carry on like this. Whoever it is thats following behind you will ever only get attacked once or twice while you're not there and you stay ahead of your party spreading disadvantage. Charger also gets you near ranged types which is great since they're now wanting to shoot at you or suffer disadvantage but you're already in melee which grants its own problems for them. Really like this class. Thinking of going cleric after lvl 6 and using guilding bolt on turn one

One feat that synergizes very well with this subclass is shield master. After you rage, your bonus action is free to give a shove action as often as you want with advantage on the strength check because you're raging. You become a bully on the battlefield, picking out one person, making it pretty futile to attack anyone but you, and then knocking them prone. You could shove them off a ledge, or away from an ally, effectively giving them a free disengage. Danger sense + shield master also means you can do pretty damn well on a lot of dex saves, even if it isn't a dex save that targets only you.

Totally agree! Very on flavor to just throw your weight around and knock people over all the time

I made a customer lineage barbarian named Monty. He was a rock elemental. His "shield" was just his left hand that happened to be a large chunk of granite that he used to block attacks. His ancestral guardian was sand that would pour out of him while raging and protect his allies, like Gara from Naruto.

It's quite nice. The defensive features work really well and really augment the core class features

I have a question, does an Ancestral Guardian's 14th level version of Spirit Shield work with a Peace Cleric's 6th level Protective Bond. This was mentioned as a good multiclass option by Flutes loot because you can teleport to the one you are protecting, but to me it doesn't seem like it should work because they both use your reaction.

They both use your reaction so you couldn't do both of them as part of the same reaction. So you could either teleport and take the damage, or reduce the damage. This isn't to say that they are a bad pairing at all though. 9 times out of 10 the damage is gonna be blud/pier/slash so you resist it anyway in rage. So you can teleport over, take the damage and already have resistance.

A small correction. Ancestral Protectors states: "Until the start of your next turn, that target has disadvantage on any attack roll that isn't against you, and when the target hits a creature other than you with an attack, that creature has resistance to the damage of the target’s attacks." This means that if you multi-class echo knight, enemies you hit will have disadvantage to hit your echo (even though it's a magical object and not a creature). It's important to note that only creatures gain resistance to the target's attack (i.e. not the echo), but any attack roll that your enemy makes that isn't against you has disadvantage. So even if they were to attack a table, spectral warriors hinder their attack (causing disadvantage).

Yes this is correct! Nice catch

@@DapperSnapperGaming If you multiclass into echo knight and take Sentinel as one of your feats you can apply the ancestral protectors debuff onto an enemy with your echo, and then on the enemy's turn they either attack your echo at disadvantage, or move to attack you, taking an opportunity attack for moving five feet away from the echo and potentially having their movement reduced to 0 if the opportunity attack lands and Sentinel applies. If you do go this route you can effectively tank from range. You don't even need to be tanky to tank.

And this is why Echo Knight is busted lol

@@DapperSnapperGaming want to take it one step further? With good positioning and the crusher feat (on top of Sentinel) you can shutdown two melee enemies which are attacking your squishy ally. You can use your echo to attack one enemy, applying ancestral protectors, and then use you echo to attack the other enemy engaged in melee with your ally, applying crusher's 5 feet forced movement in order to move them directly away from your ally. You then reposition your echo so that they would flank the enemy (if your ally was still in melee range). The effect that this has is that the enemy must move five feet to re-engage your ally, but doing so incurs a Sentinel attack of operuntunity from your echo.

Yeah I love these catch 22 type of situations. When Matt introduced Echo Knight originally, I knew it was going to be insane. The more I add it to other builds it just makes all the others (besides Battle Master and sometimes Rune Knight) look super underpowered in comparison.

I also mostly this idea in mind, but with a copper (acid) dragonborn from Fizbans. Adding dragon fear feat (to bad it's charisma based😢) to make approach more difficult, an aoe attack or a special aoe debuff on top of your peace(s. If they fight, may they rest in pieces) cleric and ancestral barbarian🤣😂

It's actually becoming quite standard for those who don't roll or use point buy. Many people I know and other prominent KZbinrs use this as well.
