The film is supposed to go up to the sprocketwheel again after being projected. Then down to the brown idler in the lower right corner and then to the take up reel. This will give a more stable picture.

yea, I tried to figure out what you were getting at by observing the projector mechanism, and you are correct. The film should have formed a lower loop from the aperture assembly, then back up to the lower part of the feed sprocket and then to the brown roller on the bottom right of the projector, and THEN to the take up reel.
