That's my Groetus head cannon. Hear me out. Groetus' knowledge is so terrible that it would permanently warp any mortal view of reality forever, right? Maybe that's because Groetus knows he is just a fake deity in a made-up tabletop game in another dimension. He knows he's just letters and drawings on a paper. He knows all creatures in Golarion, every object in it, all history is futile at the end. The only way to escape this is getting TO THE end, the end of times, were no one plays the game anymore.

@KingOogaTonTon9 ай бұрын
I think you're right, but Aroden "passing" the test was done by him dragging the starstone from the bottom of the sea to Absalom. So he was the first, but he also made it a "thing." Maybe some of the lore-experts can chime in here.
@aimanbenkhadra6449 ай бұрын
@@KingOogaTonTon gotcha! It is true that when you are the first to do a thing and making it a thing, you essentially invet it! Very nice wording 🤴 Also, from what I understood, he first passed the test, then, with his newfound divinity, raised the starstone to the surface, and the isle of Kortos with it. Credit: All my lore knowledge comes from “The Mythkeeper” and “Podfinder”
@Eruvadhril9 ай бұрын
He was the first* to survive contact with the Starstone and achieve apotheosis, but the whole system where you have to cross the chasm to the Citadel and then make your way past the maze and traps and whatnot was created by Aroden. *First human, anyway, and certainly the loudest. For all we know a bunch of crabs and squid attained godhood in the time that the Starstone was at the bottom of the ocean, and just didn't feel the need to reshape all of crab civilisation about it.
@eldyodel9 ай бұрын
@@KingOogaTonTon both are kind of correct, with him being the first to pass the test given by the Starstone itself (which you get upon touching the stone and we know almost nothing about), but after ascending went and made the actual physical test involving the bottomless chasm and the Starstone Cathedral (which whilst unstated I always kind of felt as a sort of "Alright, before you do the actual test, here's something a whipped up to check if you're ready for it")
@tmacm22377 ай бұрын
When he drew the stone from the depths of the ocean he touched it and became a god. Then he created his island and his city and put the starstone at the top of a tower and created the test.

Erastil will die because the Paizo writers are contractually obligated to murder a married character in every piece of fiction that they write. Now, technically, Torag is also married & could be on the chopping block, but given the fact that Torag has a "no mercy" rule in fights, Torag is far more likely to kill than be killed.

Merisiel and Kyra are okay though right o.o
@aimanbenkhadra6449 ай бұрын
What??? Where do you get that from???
@TheLocalDisasterTourGuide9 ай бұрын
@KingOogaTonTon Merisiel / Kyra and Feiya's parents are the only two examples I'm personally aware of where at least one member of the married couple hasn't explicitly been killed off during the story. And in the case of Feiya's parents, they didn't exactly get a happy ending. So, no, I don't think Merisiel & Kyra are safe! Though, personally, my least favorite example of this trope in Paizo's writing is Nhalmika's husband (the Gunslinger iconic). And... random Dwarven super cancer, go! The first time I remember noticing was when I asked myself "Why does Jason Buhlman have so many widows for NPCs?" After that, I couldn't unnotice the pattern!
@TheLocalDisasterTourGuide9 ай бұрын
@aimanbenkhadra644 A few years ago, I was watching Jason Buhlman GM, and I noticed a LOT of Widow/Widower NPCs. Like, a lot. Then I noticed the story of Shizuru & Tsukiyo. And I strongly suspected the pattern... Later I read the Iconic back stories, and I knew. If you have a happily married couple in a work of Paizo fiction, one of them is about to eat it - hard. And usually for no apparent reason at all. Nhalmika (Gunslinger Iconic) loses her husband to random Dwarven super cancer completely without warning, and it's obvious they just wanted to remove the character. At present, I'm only aware of two examples of a married couple where one person didn't die in the fiction, and well, in one case - *shudder* In the other case, all I can say is, Merisiel, run! The writers are coming foe you!

What blasphemy is this! Didn’t mention Apsu, creator of the universe, who was also in the fight against Rovagug. Also it’s Norgorber. He’s going to die, because he somehow cheated at the test of the Starstone and it’s going to catch up to him. Also, thinking question, what god does Asmodeus have trapped under Hell? It’s said that hell was a heavenly realm before Asmodeus took over. I’m gonna guess Lucifer. Edit: I just read about Pathfinder retconning Tiamat out of lore, and demoting Apsu from extra-cosmic creator of the gods to just some god who created a solar system. Boo. I will never accept such blasphemy!

Out of everything in Pathfinder 2e, the deities are the biggest clusterf*ck. If you want to be this convoluted why not just use Greek mythology? There's a reason monotheism spread like wild fire across the globe ....
@okagisama8 ай бұрын
Well, those are "some" of the numerous deities in PF2. So many more are officially present, like the Elders faes, the Old ones, the Demon Lords, the Elemental Lords, the Osirion (=Ancient Egypt) ones, the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and many other cultural ones. The campaigns are usually situated in one or two continents, but each other continent also has its own set of deities. There's more than 200 deities and faiths/philosophies present at this time.
