One of my favorite deities. It's intriguing how she is Neutral Evil and not Chaotic Evil, considering she is very attached to freedom. I wonder how a Lawful Evil cleric of Urgathoa that is attached to Order would play out.

You misunderstood chaotic evil then. Chaotic evil is "might makes right" and seeks subjugation through force. Neutral evil generally doesn't care about control and subjugation of others; Neutral Evil concentrates only on the self, without regard to the specifics of how. Whether the Neutral Evil achieves what they want through lies, deception, and manipulation or brute force equally.

@@JohnSmith-ro2sc I don't think we can define the alignments so clearly. Most people I talked to have a somewhat consistent idea of what lawful evil means, but I have heard very different ideas about the definition of chaotic evil especially and the chaotic allignment in general. For me saying that chaotic characters work according to their desires, whims, emotions etc. Unlike lawful characters who work according to their principles. So a chaotic character could be according to my definition a might makes right character but also e.g. a manipulative character who furthers their desires or ambitions through intrigue. E.g. at least in D&D many scheming Drow are chaotic evil.

I would suggest that neutral evil has more freedom than chaotic. Chaotic evil characters frequently go mad, which limits free will. Neutral evil is the ultimate freedom, as you don't care about law or chaos. You only care about yourself.

Thank you for the information, you do very good research and the topic of undeath is an interesting one. Urgathoa is without a doubt a very strange diety, i mean on one hand she teaches all the pleasure in life to continue to undeath but there are mindless undead that cannot enjoy, but on the other hand she teaches you that the "convenient" pleasures will one day stop giving you pleasure and you have to go for more!

Excellent content as always. Now, as an audio only channel I would recommend trying to clean the audio. When you cut, we can heat the background noise cuts in and out (microwave beeping? dog with a leash?) and it is slightly unpleasant. Keep up the good work.

Most days when I'm recording, I record around 12-1am when everyone's asleep, this video and my next video, the audio was recorded during daytime and there is a bit more background noise then I'm used to dealing with. Thanks for the comment though, I'll see what I can do with the next video!

I find the relationship between Urgathoa and Naderi to be interesting. Most intriguing though is the presence of cults that seek to ship the two. I had a character idea involving such a cult, and I look forward to the rules for cults present in Dark Archive.

Thank you for this video. It helps with my table’s campaign. It has helped with the lore building for a portion of our campaign as we recreate parts of our home brews in Golarion, like my Circus Umbria which is in opposition to Ugathoa but can be confused with being in league with them due to outward similarities with her church. I’m GMing the arc that starts the formation of circus next month and the table is looking forward to it since they get to be part of the creation once we get to Absolom.

I really appreciate these lore vids. My introduction to Pathfinder was Kingmaker. It was obvious that the world had so much depth to it but there was no easy way to get educated on it.

@@SirVertigo Thanks man. I got a question for you if you don’t mind. I really like the Tiefling race and I’ve been playing a neutral good one. Is it possible for a Tiefling to permanently overcome her inherent darkness and rage so it essentially disappears? Or is she forever doomed to struggle with it?

@@Runeforged oh I'm sure it is. While there parent may be a mortal race and a fiend, that didn't necessarily mean they are forced into evil. If you've ever watched teen titans, Raven is a good example. Her father's a demon, she's supposed to bring in the end of the world, but doesn't want to and isn't evil. She has the diabolic shadow over her, but she chooses her own path. Evil tiefling go evil not because they are forced to, but more because everyone expects them to, if that makes sense? If everyone you meet keeps you at arms length and treats you like at any moment your gonna burn down an orphanage, your eventually gonna crumble from the sheer unfairness of it, if that makes sense.

The whole idea of trying to keep a lid on things when in dangerous, high pressure situations is fascinating… and like you said on top of all that they gotta deal with the worst of discrimination in Pathfinders world. Hell man even undead are less spit at!

I'm not sure there's a lot of info of how they view each other, Asmodeus does seek for order and dominance over the universe, while Urgathoa just wants freedom to live life! So, I'd imagine there slightly at odds, he wants control and she wants freedom but other than that, I couldn't find any info on them!
