Varisia remains my favorite section of the Pathfinder world, and I’m so happy to learn more about the New Thassilon kingdoms. Thassilon itself is a great take on the ancient advanced civilization trope, and seeing Sorshen and Belimarius come back and either try to reform or continue on like nothing happened is so cool and opens up so many storytelling possibilities
@TheMythkeeper3 ай бұрын
Yeah I really want to see a collision between some of the really powerful and kind of evil wizards in the PF-verse in some future AP. Belimarius, the Whispering Tyrant, Nex and Geb (either or, or both), and throw Razmir in their for good measure. Lots of powerful legendary figures in Pathfinder, that I'd love to see duke it out in some future APs.
@JamesAdams-nd1td3 ай бұрын
@@TheMythkeeper That'd be cool. I half expect Sorshen to be the one to tell the PCs "Hey, all the bad guys are gearing up for a turf war. Maybe someone should do something about it." And she can't do it herself because . . . Honestly, I think Sorshen is overcompensating at this point. She's letting Belimarius and even some of her own subjects do some pretty risky stuff instead of taking pre-emptive action because after so long of being a tyrant who specializes in mind control, she just can't bring herself to interfere with other people's choices no matter how bad they are.

I have loved all of your videos. I am especially grateful for the details in the longer ones. I tend to watch them with a notepad and pen handy for info that ties into what I'm running or planning to run. I'm one of those super-nerd DM's who loves tying tiny details of his campaign to the setting lore just for my own enjoyment. My players have been delving into the lore more often since they discovered my love of campaign easter eggs. Every once in a while one will call me an a****le when they discover something that they missed in play months or even years ago. I have been sending them to your videos from the time I discovered you.

This is so great to hear, and to be honest I'm the exact same GM. My adventures tend to be jam-packed with little Golarion lore details that are mostly in there just for me.

Yeah Pathfinder has some pretty meaty lore already, and when you layer in the events of the PFS adventures, its a very detailed world.

100% my favorite TTRPG lore and worldbuilding channel. Honestly, sir, your style and delivery has influenced my own thought process as I am in the middle of bulding up the setting for a novel. If I could leave one suggestion for future content, it would be maybe sort of profiles on the major historic figures. Or perhaps not even major or pivital, but just interesting. There have been a lot of names and titles dropped in a lot of your regional dives and of course the videos on religion, but a bit of a deeper dive into certain character would be great. Cheers!

I have no idea how you remember all this stuff! Varisia seems full of content. Am I right in thinking this is the default home base for PCs? Or is that out of date now?
@TheMythkeeper3 ай бұрын
I don't think there is a 'default home base'. The location of any individual game of Pathfinder that you play will depend entirely on what game you and your playgroup are interested in running. That being said, the majority of published APs (at least in 1st edition) were set here in this part of the world.

Have you considered doing video's on gear? Aside from the normal stuff in wondrous items, there are subjects like Plant Symbionts, Shadowcraft Weapons, Demon Grafts, and more that kinda blur the line between in-game lore and and equipment that could make for interesting subjects. Also, there are a few monstrous humanoids in the pathfinder bestiary that have stats to be played as player characters...those could be fascinating to look into too. Personally a look at the different classes' archetypes and a dive into how each of them are unique from a lore standpoint is what I'd like to see, but that would be a massive endeavor.
@TheMythkeeper3 ай бұрын
The closest thing I've done to a look at gear is that I did talk about the specialized gear used by the Eagle Knights when I did my Eagle Knight faction guide. Gear and archetypes are a little trickier than historical and cultural lore for me, because they're so tightly bound to the rules. As the editions change (between 1e, 2e and Remaster and of course whatever inevitably comes next 4 or 5 years from now) I know the specifics of how various gear works and what archetypes exist for what class are likely to change. One thing I could definitely do is take a look at legendary relics or powerful magic items that have been important to the world lore.

Got a quick question that is unrelated. We’re picking up Savage World Pathfinder and I was wondering if Half-Giants (Goliaths) is a playable race and where would they be located in the world of Golarion? Goliaths and Tieflings are my two favorite races/species in D&D
@TheMythkeeper3 ай бұрын
I don't know Savage World Pathfinder well enough to know whether half-giant is an available race, but from a lore standpoint they totally exist. In fact the earliest ogres were just half-giants, before they became their own species. They'd appear anywhere that giants can be found - so typically around the mindspin mountains, in northern varisia, around the Whitemarch prefecture in Taldor etc... etc... Tieflings are also a race in Pathfinder though later editions refer to them (and Aasimars) as various kinds of Nephilim.
@ShawRedemption3 ай бұрын
Thank you! Savage world Is just a game built by Pinnacle Entertainment but they teamed up with Pathfinder to use their world and lore but use Savage World rules. My group and myself enjoy the simpler ruleset Savage World provides, it’s just a personal decision but really enjoying the lore so far.
