In my Aeon combat section I mention that it uses Charisma as a casting stat. I said this because when you look at the spellbook it tells you it needs Charisma but that is just a visual glitch and you can use the spells regardless of your attributes. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback pointing this out.

Aeon works best with hybrid meele classes. Prebuff and go to town. Fully buffed (with gazes, bane, madness, guarded heart, mark of justice, true strike, judgments, team feats, charge... and bla, bla, bla) aeon could generate 150 attack bonus. And in fight with demons the char goes first 9 out of 10 encounters.

Not only that, but with the latest patch, mythic spells (if not merged) use your highest abillity mod even if it's Str, Dex etc. Gazes are also Free actions for quite some time now IIRC and majority Aeon spells use Swift actions. There are also new, as in only a few months old, spells that are ridiculous (46 in every attribute? yes please), Mythic Suppresion can shut down even Demon Lords and there are some really nice damage spells too. Still, if you go Aeon, you better do it as at least hybrid class like Warpriest (preferably with Vital Strike and Smash), Inquistor or other melee classes since they get massive buffs and can judge smash demons like crazy.

The thing to keep in mind about aeons, is that they are purpose made to enforce a very narrow set of laws. The most powerful of the aeons enforce continuity of the timeline while a middling aeon enforces continuity of the grave. I believe that one in particular is called a marut and the hunt down liches and graveknights (both are types of undead that fall outside the "natural" undead, whereas vampires dont) and then bring said unnatural undead to heel by beating them to true death with lightning empowered fists. What I'm getting at is aeons are judge dredd turned up to 11. I've been playing tabletop since d&d 2nd ed. Love what pathfinder did for tabletop

I can firmly say Lich was SUCH a fun playthrough, I loved how they found a way to NOT subvert the lore of liches taking a looooong time to come into being while still keeping the gravity of the decision. This video has encouraged me to go through the demon and Angel routes too though!

I really enjoyed the RP aspect of the Angel path. Sometimes it's not the roleplaying choices that go on in the game's text, but how you feel about your characters and your own imagination. There's nothing better than going up against hordes of demons on the Angel path. I did choose to switch over to Legend later after I was convinced by my party and I enjoyed that too from a gameplay mechanical perspective. Having 2 classes to play with was just crazy

No, I think Iomedae is right here. The mythic power stems from demon blood and is only fed to you so that your soul awakens the memories and personality of Areelu's child. The soul in your body is not even you. Your character is already dead before the game even starts. The form your mythic power takes depends on the people you meet in the few weeks after you awaken in the cave beneath Kenabres. Legend gives you the chance to be mortal and live YOUR life. As the mightiest mortal in the entire world at lvl 40 but still. Of course most paths just don't give a shit about what Iomedae or Areelu think, and ascend to godhood (or at least demi-godhood) anyway.

@@yaldabaoth2 Nahyndrian crystals are demonic in origin, but areelu's method purifies them and turns them into pure power. That's why, exposure to them in their natural state is deadly. Even for demons. But her crystals are not... They're pure power in their state given to you. Hence why you are able to imitate higher powers you came across and choose a mythic path. Because you come across a dead aeon, or find an angel sword, ect. Even when you meet story teller, you absorb some of his able to see into item's past ability. Which he gets from by being a psychopomp. As for you not having a soul, also not true. You have a soul. You have a soul that felt kindred to Areelu in fact. Hence why he used her son's souls remains on you, thinking this familiarty would allow it to take root. Areelu's son is mostly melted into planestuff already. It's more of a vague resdue at this point. So, if anything, your soul is consuming it. This is why Areelu's resurrection attempts failing. If there was a 'functioning' soul of her son to begin with, she would just resurrect it. Or put inside a golem, anything like that rather then do this gamble with his existence. 40 meager levels are no where near enough to be mightiest mortal by the way. There are other level 20 character /10 mythic characters. Such as tar baphon, or baba yaga... And most of these beings have insanely fucked up 'mythic' powers. Levels are not everything... There are 50+ hit dice (level) creatures yet they are designed to be killed by meager level 20's for example. 40 regular class levels, that can't pass caster level 20 is nothing. It's just being more jack of all trade rather then being powerful. (which is the given limitation by the game by the way. in order to have a caster level above 20 without mods, you HAVE to have a mythic path) Morever another point to why legend is silly... Isnt the whole point giving up this super power, why and how are you gaining any power to begin with? I know they were trying pull a Kreia, and not very unlikely since Avallone was involved. And i love kreia, and avallone but i disagree with the "reject the power that is not yours, that is path to weakness" argument i will instead say "make the power that is not yours, yours." which what mastering your mythic path and reaching level 10 represents by the way.

Roleplay wise my Aeon had the best experience and ended up being the first run I took to the ending. She was a Monk who believed firmly in abiding by the law, order and a strict code of ethics. Aeon was a perfect fit for her and she could impose what she believed was the best for the people of Golarion. But act 4 came about, and suddenly this code of ethics she personally held was turned upside down and to continue down the path of an Aeon, she had to go against what she believed in and make decisions and judgments that benefited the nature of the abyss... She rebelled against the Aeons wishes and made decisions that she would've done on Golarion and not what the Abyss wanted. When act 5 came about, there was only one option in her mind, which was to go down the Legend path and make changes as a mortal instead.

It makes sense because she is roleplaying a personality instead of a Mythic Path. Her character thought Aeon was the way but being in the Abyss challenged everything she thought she knew. That's awesome, hope you enjoyed legend Kracen.

@@KracenSC I mean you said the role of aeon was the best experience but didn't finish that role. You're not really role playing if you're just picking whatever you want no matter the path, imo. You're not really an aeon if you didn't value law over all else, you were just failrping as one. There is no giant shift in alignment to the role, it's your characters alignment that changes, which again imo, should have already been a lawful one if you were actually rping aeon. Just saying it sounds like you were playing the game not actually rping. Which is fine, I failrp'd as aeon to be devil and played a CN trickster and everyone in my court thought I was evil, but that was just how the game played out.

I dont think you understand the concept of role-playing if you don't think playing a character isn't role-playing

The core problem with Trickster seems to be that they weren't really sure what they wanted it to be, and everyone had their own take. Are they a goofy agent of chaos? Are they a Coyote/Anansi classic trickster figure, using wit and guile to manipulate people to accomplish their goals? Are they the ultimate rules lawyer, seeing even the fundamental building blocks of reality and going "but if you look at the exact words and ignore the spirit, there are ways to break this"? It tried to do all those things, and didn't do any of them very well as a result. It's telling that my favorite Trickster moment was the part when you unlocked the path to begin with, fast-talking an idiotic cultist into planting explosives in their own base. Give me an entire playthrough of stuff like that, where you can go full-on "dance, puppets, dance" on events. Meanwhile, the biggest problem for Devil roleplay-wise is that it's only available on two paths, and on one of them, it makes absolutely zero sense. I can see an Aeon falling, being so dedicated to Law at the expense of compassion and mercy that you slip into true Evil, but an Azata? They're the full antithesis of Devils in Pathfinder, and the only way you get there is by playing dumb as your "advisor" completely lies to you (and not very well, at that). What would compel the kind of character who was naturally drawn to the Azata path to succumb to the temptation of the Devil path? I feel like changing it so the Devil path was basically an alternative route to being a renegade Aeon would have made both the Aeon and Devil paths a bit stronger narratively.

I think they should replace Trickster with Fae Lord. Because at least a Fae lord you know is a pure agent of Chaos and a real antithesis to an Aeon. Trickster just seems like a watered down version of them. Especially considering what the Lantern King put you through in Kingmaker it would be really insane to play something like that. I think the problem with Devil is the same as all other late game mythic paths, they come really late into the game and aren't that unique.

@@paulsmith5752 Aeon is easy, azata a little bit difficult after the update, now this guy is probably harder than the final boss, he has 83 ac on hard and even more on unfair, and he spam quicken irresistible magic, but it's possible, just don't fight him early if you don't have some super op support mercenaries characters. Greater dispel magic is a must, mid night isles dlc gives you a robe that increases your caster level, it's easier to dispel magic now. Fully buff, dispel, and kill him asap, if you have trouble in the fight, you can abuse the AI, since the boss will always target the main character and the devil minions will attack whatever in front of them. You can just move your party to a safe place and control a dog to trigger the dialogue. Let the dog fight the minions and your party sitting on a nice place waiting for him with Guarded Hearth on the ground

I totally agree, Lawful was done all wrong, I find myself choosing the good options over lawful in most dialogue. having said that I kind of get that the lawful option covers all three of the alignments, so that option better represents Neutral and Evil

Honestly, for as much as people disliked the alignment choices in Kingmaker because of it moving your alignmenet in two directions at once, I prefer it to what we have in WOTR. I just think too many people were looking at alignment in the reverse way it was supposed to in that game. Kingmaker largely follows a "Here are your choices, and your choices determine your alignment", leading you to feel like a collective person, whereas WOTR follows a "Your alignment should guide your choices", leading you to feel more one note. I guess the point was to help the "embodiment" of the different paths, but I think it kind of misses the mark on in that respect because of it.

This pretty much convinced me that my next playthrough will be a Demon Path/Wendu romance. My first was Angel and I'm now going through an Azata run. The Angel path felt the most natural, storywise on that blind run. There was a lot of gravitas. In Azata, I feel like what would happen if a bunch of fey were running a war. It's fun in a totally different way and I love Aivu. I just really appreciate the replay value of this game and how significantly the experience can change.

I went in the opposite order, really liked both runs. I think I was more effective as an Angel-Hospitaller, but really enjoyed 99% of the Azata run's humor and theme music (plus the boss move of SINGING at your enemy's mightiest fortress!). Prepping for a third run as a legend hell knight next!

I know this is 7 months after the original comment but I cannot commend the Demon/Wenduag True Romance highly enough, its just a thing of beauty. Wenduag was by far the sweetest romance I have ever seen and left me reeling and it meshes so well with Demon Mythic Path. I hope you do/did this run.

My path is almost always the Azata because i utterly love aivu and will treasure that little sister dragon and her mischevious endeavors (cue fanart of woljif saying he's gonna go steal some stuff, aivu suggests cookies, and then ember is all 'and share with the poor!'). I was almost hellbent on going gold dragon because it also represented some ideals I had, but the moment I learned doing that somehow strips away your azata growth just immediately soured it. I was so ready to just have moments to joke with Aivu that she wouldn't have to wait for me to grow or make wings to fly with her, let alone other silly shenanigans. Pretty much means the only way i can manage to do that as my mind envisioned it would be to cheat via toybox and mix and match manually... feels like a missed opportunity.

If I remember correctly you get some unique dialogue with Aivu if you switch from Azata to Gold Dragon. She is much more receptive to that compared to some of the other paths you could take.

I should mention that Trickster's final quest is my favorite one in the whole game due to amount of outcomes and the fact that this outcomes not given to you in simple dialogue options. Instead, both your actions in previous council meetings and how you decide to proceed with your final mission (by your own hunch, without any alternative pathes defined by quest journal) influence the outcome.

Btw, they changed Enforcing Gaze to Swift Actions. So you can cast an Enforcing Gaze, Aeon Bane, AND attack if you are not moving (close to enemy or ranged). It is honestly an amazing feeling in combat. My Lawful Good Deliverer Aeon absolutely melts Act 5 almost on his own (i will never go anywhere without Daeran and Regill, they are my bros)

I played Lich as my first (and so far only) with minimal to no spoilers/guides. There were two things that pissed me off. 1. You get no warning that a bunch of characters will leave you by continuing down this path. I had accepted that this would require me to be evil and that party members might not like it, but seeing core members of my team up and leave with NO prior comments that they might do so (particularly the ones I had invested teamwork feats into) was a real annoyance. I felt similar annoyance when without warning after certain events some characters would leave for almost an entire act. Looking at Wjolif, Arue and Wenduag in particular for those ones. 2. The undead characters had NO story to them - or what story there was could be missed VERY easily. Unlike living characters where it tells you "bring this character with you to this area" the undead characters do not get the same treatment. I didn't mind too much that I missed out on undead Ciar, but it was very annoying being in the labyrinth and realising while stuck in the labyrinth that an undead character that wasn't with me had story here, but, because the place got destroyed when leaving, I couldn't go back later to experience it. When you add to that the lost romance/murdered companion arc, playing lich to me felt like a constant barrage of "play by yourself, no story for you", which was your chief complaint about Swarm. I realise that a number of my complaints are NOT tied to lich but rather to the progression of the game itself, but being my first play through it certainly felt like a problem with lich. I guess I just would not ever recommend Lich as a first play through, but definitely as a second or third once you've got a handle of the game, the story, and the mechanics.

That's actually a great call out. Lich didn't feel the same way for me because I had already played it in the beta so I knew what I was getting into. Swarm was completely new for me and I wasn't prepared for the experience. Definitely a case to be made that Lich also isn't a great first time playthrough.

combat #7 "game wont give you a pop-up letting you know your build is trash" honestly, a very lol moment and much needed feature for new pathfinder players. I am a long time D&D and baldurs gate player. I found this video very helpful because I'm trying to optimize my time knowing that one 300+ hour play of this game is half a year for me. The "spoilers" don't mean anything to me at this time because I haven't started the game yet. With that said, thank you, you saved me a lot of time. Also, I am having buyers remorse because I now realize the overwhelming commitment I just made by purchasing this game.

Thanks for all the videos around the game! Kingmaker was just fine enough for me to buy second game, but the second one truly made me interested in the world. This channel expands nicely around the game. Having said that, I know only aeon-till-the-end, aeon-to-legend, azata-till-the-end paths, so would not provide that kind of ranking. Aeon was my first playthrough. Knowing only kingmaker from long time ago, I was still mostly exploring the world. Since I was avoiding all possible spoilers I missed all warnings that path is not for the first time 😅. Nevertheless, it was very enjoyable. Playing lawful is far away from what I would enjoy, but first significant choice for Aeon made me... curious. And it felt right thing to do in a way. After first time travel I figured out what will be the last one, but story-wise it was great and quite dramatic - I would say best ending as most interesting, although I would disagree its best for the multiverse. Old world suffering happened anyway, its existence was only just cut short in a way nobody felt. Like nobody would notice if they were hit by something moving with speed of light... just not given chance to continue existing... But that would make ending more interesting. The biggest problem was that Aeon path turned out to be.... absorbed with trivial, local, political-driven law. If it was to "harden" player then perhaps it would make vague sense but.. it felt a bit lazy. Especially around act 5. I felt that aeon was not only supposed to police multiverse laws, but also to enforce some local, geographical scoped rules. And even that was sometimes doubtful to me - other judges would be mad if they received packs of "liars" to judge from Drezen. Being cold and heartless I can understand. I role-played this: as story progressed, I was becoming more detached from the world and people around. Then instead of playing cold creature I was playing some "frustrated street judge who was given boring cases" for a time. I played it, but role-playing wise I assumed it did not happen at all. I would say it would be possible to show coldness during game too, just in different way than it was. Anyway, it was good experience. I understand issues with azata path but... playing this just after Aeon felt so refreshing! Role-playing wise it was awesome for me - I was free from advisors and I felt like Im going my own path, as it should be for azata. I gathered my own separate group which was nice contrast to official crusade. But story could be bigger around that. Maybe a bit bigger tensions were needed between chaotic and lawful queen side. However I have impression that there is a bit different problem here - if player does not play Azata, then Elysium seems in big part absent from story. Desna representatives are present at the beginning, but it felt like its only to make it possible to start as Azata. Then biggest contribution was made by... hm, almost-ex-demon, because of Desna efforts. Which is nice on its own, but story would be so much amazing if Worldwound gathered more attention from other planes as it should! In my free time I like to imagine how I would love to see the game. I guess it would make it nearly impossible to create, but still: * Heaven and Abyss are involved well enough. Stories around them are fine I would say. * I think there could be an Aeon in the game - if not as a player, as companion (although their true agenda could be hidden...). Will of the universe would not give up so easily! * Free crusaders should exist in all the story lines, as louse group that could be then united by Azata sent from Elysium (if Hand of inheritor could arrive, why not azata?) * Hell representatives could be present anyway as part of pact with Heaven to stop the Abyss, but they would try obviously to use opportunity for themselves... * Trickster could be there, because Worldwound would definitely be interesting to play with. It could then be made into multiplayer like second divinity. Hmm... just wishes :)

I've not seen many people make a ranking for each category. Usually they try to weigh everything on the same scale. The way you did it hear was very helpful. I just wanted to see a comparison on combat and roleplay. This was perfect. I'm assuming its a bit more work to do it this way, so thanks for that. I'm in act 4 on the Lich path right now. I feel like there's more reactivity to me being a necromancer than there are dialog options so far. But the lich companions and the crazy lich combat toolkit (crossblooded sorcerer with undead bloodline /arcane) has been a such a circus! I love it! This is such a valid roleplay experience as a whole. Just Repurposing enemies alone makes me feel like I'm actually a necromancy, like I'm actually experiencing free will as a necromancer. I hope one day we get the option to kill and raise any of our party members to undead versions in a future game. Pillars of Eternity 2 is the best pirate game I've played. And now Pathfinder WoTR offers the best necromancy. The past 10 years have been such a series of home runs for cRPGs. We gotta show love for our developers to keep these coming! In the right party, Azata squeezes performance out of the mechanics with Life-Bonding Friendship taken as your first superpower. You open up probably 20+ feats throughout your team by eliminating the need for anyone else to take teamwork feats, spell pen feats, and concentration feats. This lets you do some pretty quirky things with your groups comp.

I absolutely love Swarm. The reactions of the characters and the absolute loneliness of being the worst, most vile person possible is incredibly unnerving and interesting to play. The aesthetic and mechanics are very imersive and interesting to play with, the music is absolutely fantastic and the roleplay potential is incredible, especially starting off as a good character who was broken by the cruelties of war, the injustices of humanity like what kenabres has done to the mongrels and the actions of Iomedae. There is nothing I've garnered more satisfaction with in a game than the ammount of F*ck YOU's I've offered Iomedae, and the roleplay that my character was an Oracle, always fascinated with the brutal indifference of nature towards itself due to the freedom of the shackles of sentience the humanoid races were given, bestowed with divine powers by Sarenrae, the goddess of redemption, who felt captivated by the ammount of effort my character always put into being a good person despite not believing in such kindness at all, in hopes of one day being able to feel, love and protect as other people do. He slowly lost belief in the humanity he spent so long fighting for when he discovered the exile of the mongrels, cruelties of the prelate, indifference of the gods towards the war and ammount of people deffecting to demon worshipping. The most important character in his story is Sosiel, whom he envies most profoundly for his kindness and beliefs in goodness and beauty. Their friendship started kind but as the game progresses my character slowly becomes rude towards him and the others, shackled by a war he forced himself upon, abandoning himself for the sake of, them? He slowly found out and got seduced by the concept of the swarm and then, like Griffith to the Band of the Hawk, finally gives up on his makeshift ethics to pursue who he trully is. Alone, cruel and hungry.... Now everyone can give up on their pathetic concepts of kindness and zealotry. May the gods rot in the skies with no one to waste their faith into begging for help in a world where we're not welcome, under the constant observation and lack of intervention from a goddess who has betrayed us for godhood... for there shall only be the swarm. Everyone will be a part of it... "The heavenly flames we summon aren't yours to take from us, Sarenrae, for what is heaven? Your kingdom. This one? This is ours. Golarion is the kingdom of the swarm." Oracle lvl 20 angel into swarm, 5 swarm clones with merged angel-divine spellbooks. Time to take over Golarion. "Everyone shall be offered the mercy of consumption. Everyone shall be blessed with the gift of family. Everyone shall be part of the swarm."

Angel and Demon are the un-missable oaths they seem to want to railroad you into at first glance, and the others are sort of "extra". So I leaned away from them. Azata was kind of too tempting with Arue, but it gets a little goofy from there. Arue's thing was a bit straighter, but most of the path extras are straight up Candyland. Aivu being Aivu works, but when literally everyone is the same as that except for [spoiler but it's not good], it feels a little like we just aren't going to make it with no adults in the room. Honestly the Azata mc is a babysitter, and it's a trip but it's also not what I expected after the beautiful vision when unlocking the path.

Arue's quest line isn't even Azata exclusive except for the early recruitment plotline. It does sketch out where it seemed like the path was headed, but they mostly turned away from it.

The goofy Azata characters are kind of fun, but they really take over like the Steve Urkel to Pathfinder's Family Matters. And you're stuck babysitting a bunch of Looney Tunes. The rest of the path could've been more like the path vision, and more like Arue's line, overall.

I'm on my second play through. Thanks to your last top 10 video last year on the same subject I chosen Aeon and combined it with a overwhelming mage and it's a very deadly combination so far. it is very overwhelming sometime with everything I can do and I need the Bubble Buff Mod to help me not forget. I agree with you that being so cold to people does take a toll, but I am enjoying it so far. If I am not burnt out on this game by the end, I want to do a Demon run, it will be my first evil play through.

While angel is no.1 path for vanilla first-time hero walkthrough... Trickster is hands down best path for SECOND run. Super-effective powers (to the point of making balors and vavakias commit suicide on sight of our character) and hilarious plot-line tweaks in numerous points + enraged Nocticula in cute dress was well worth the trouble of pranking her.

If I could, I would rewrite devil to be it's own mythic path rather than just a corruption of two other paths. It have it so you have to work your way up the ranks of the devil hierarchy, earning abilities from each rank, such as from erinyes, gelugons, kytons, and pit fiends.

I went Azata to Golden Dragon in my playthough, and enjoyed it, but I think I enjoyed the Golden Dragon much more in theory than in execution. I love the redemption philosophy it follows...but it felt like most of the redemption that was happening was disconnected to the path anyway. Also...yeah. The whole Red Dragon line felt kinda dumb given you have to be a good alignment BEFORE making that choice, so it makes it hard to justify going that route in general, particularly given you already have very little content in the path as it is and it wouldn't really feel satisfying to veer from the path so late in the game after you already made your huge declaration of your future intentions that changes your whole physical form.

That moment in angel, when you save Targona from the demon within her and simultaneously vanquish Mustafen once and for all is probably one of the most intense moments for me in any game I have ever played. I cried so hard for about 10 minutes, and I was so discouraged because I thought I blew the angel 9 trials, but then I get back to Drezen and... It was a fantastic experience, and I am so happy, I have gotten to complete 3 playthroughs on this amazing game, and now I am in demon.

Demonic charge being a move action means you can get a lot of mileage out of the ability if your character uses standard rather than full actions. Spell casters and vital strike builds can do a lot with it.

I played Azata these last two weeks but I gave it up for my first Legend run. Gotta say, I felt bad for Aivu as she was shrinking and getting weaker with every step of the Legend quest but this path just wasn't for me. Now a Sword Saint 20/Demonslayer 20 was born instead with 600+ hp and enough power to brutalize a demon lord in a single round. I really do agree with this list. Well put together.

Thanks for the content, as always! While I don't think it's "the best" overall in any way, Azata is still my favourite. You mentioned that the Azata's stories don't really feel epic or world-shaking, but to me that's kind of the whole point. Your character gets these godlike powers, but it's the only path where your character does not feel compelled to impose their will on the world around them (with the exception of the fleshmarkets, in which planting a heckin tree after murdering everyone is such a wonderful act of defiance). It's quite saccharine, like the Song of Elysium basically solving every problem conceivable, but I kind of like that wholesomeness in the face of all the horrible stuff that happens in the game. When playing Lich or Swarm the game's atmosphere is just so miserable all the time, it gets tedious. This was my first CRPG aside from about ten minutes of Divinity, and I don't think I'll ever forget it. I am mesmerised by what Owlcat achieved, and I'm very eager to see how their next game turns out.

Definitely agree here! I went the Azata to Golden Dragon path. However, the more I reflect on my playthrough, the more I feel like I liked both more in concept more than in execution, more so the GD path. Like, most of the redeption that took place happened outside of the GD path, and the dynamic on the Chromatic vs. Metallic dragon fell completely flat given it's a late game path, meaning you've already made your declaration of what you want to embody moving forward, so it would have only really worked if you had two competing advisors throughout the game. Azata I just kind of wish was a bit more connected to the plot and was able to take itself a bit more seriously every once and a while. Like, it was fun and playful, which I enjoyed, but I wish there were more hard hitting moments, ya know?

Great list S! Appreciate all the time it takes to make a video like this. I'd only have minor changes if I were to make my own personal lists: For RP, i'd move Angel above Devil & Gold Dragon. Even though I agree you're not necessarily becoming an Angel, you definitely feel like an agent of heaven and seems to me like the intended "default mythic path" for the MC. For story, no change! I wanted to have Azata higher because I love the interactions with Aivu, but the path is pretty bland otherwise from a story perspective. For combat, i'd have both Swarm and Legend higher than Aeon. Aeon's spells are lackuster and having certain demons be immune to his mythic suppression is disappointing. A Trickster into Legend crit gish build is one of the strongest MCs you can make in the game.

Aeon is a boss killer. All he needs is to land one hit with aeon bane to dispel everything from enemy and this path has best AB bonus of all mythic paths (gazes, aeon bane, mythic cloak, inquisitor spellbook, perfect form can add 20-40 to your AB in the late game). Trickster or Legend might be decent against trash mobs or for difficulties below core, but for something like unfair martial late game Aeon would be one of the best choices.

Too many of the bosses you speak of are immune to mythic suppression, and the better Aeon abilities come online at ML 7+ whereas paths like lich and angel bang right off the bat and ML 7+ trickster breaks the game which Aeon does not.

Im not familiar with English speaking wotr community, so can only speak for myself. I've made my unfair playthrough with standart companions in their standart classes without single use of mythic suppression. All you need on a boss fight is to land a hit with Aeon bane active which is not hard when your AB is close to 130. And I'm not saying about another Angel oracle, Lich sorcerer or Trickster's Persuasion 3 game breaking playthrough, just mention that martial Aeon is stronger against hard bosses than Legend, Trickster or Swarm. Unfair Inevitable Darkness in one round is no joke.

@@lynxy90 I disagree about Trickster being weaker than Aeon in melee given the access to the trickster critical feats, sneak attacks and persuasion demoralizing abilities . The reasons why Legend is stronger than Aeon in melee on higher difficulties is: 1) Legend gets access to the highest natural base attack bonuses in the game due to the increased CL and 2) Specifically if you go Trickster ---> Legend, while you lose your trickster mythic abilities you get to keep all the trickster-only feats you accumulated, through either the perception or knowledge (world) line. Meaning you can have a CL 30 character with access to 3 x improved critical feats, 8d6 sneak attacks, etc... A level 20 SS level/10 Duelist or Mutagen Warrior or Two handed Warrior following this progression outclasses any Aeon melee build on unfair. If you were able to one round ID on unfair with your Aeon that's great. I'm not saying that you can't have a decent party with an Aeon MC, but there are several stronger melee options particularly on higher difficulties.

I know I'm kinda late to the party, but I think Gold Dragon really was misunderstood during your playthrough with it. Gold Dragon wasn't supposed to redeem you, but turn you into the ultimate redeemer. You put it in the last position in your personal ranking, saying that you can't affect major enemies, but this Mythic Path literally exists to redeem one of the most important antagonists in the game (I'm being discreet to not spoil for new players). There is an ending where said antagonist literally is allowed to Pathfinder 's equivalent of Heaven because of your actions as a GD. I know not every content is everyone's cup of tea, and I think this video is amazing, as is your channel, I just wanted to leave it here for newer players. GD actually has a purpose, and it is a huge one, for those into it.

Thanks glad you enjoyed the video. The problem with seeing GD as the ultimate redeemer is that I have played Aeon which is unquestionably more of a redeemer playthrough than GD provides. Characters like Staunton and Terendelev are much better served in Aeon than they are in GD and I think it's a real missed opportunity. GD talks a lot about redemption but I don't think the script follows through.

@@SlanderedGaming I see your point, but... spoiler warning ⚠️ Isn't GD the only Path that can actually make Pharasma send Areelu Vorlesh to PF's Heaven? I thought the whole point of GD was to redeem the main antagonist, leaving the Worldwound open and taking the responsibility to guard it. When Areelu presents her story to Pharasma she says she lived a lot of time with GD using her power for Good until her wound killed her, and Pharasma acknowledges that saying that she actually became a force of Good and made significant impact on the world, if I'm not mistaken. But I see your point, in fact Aeon has a better story, period. GD's story isn't that great, tbh. My whole point is that GD works as the redeemer of Areelu individually, not the main character's. Areelu is the root of all problems in this game, she shouldn't be redeemable and yet you can convince herself, just like you can spare the Baphomet's Cultist in GDs first quest and he becames a Healer and saves lives. It comes full circle. Aeon makes great changes that affect whole Planes. GD makes small changes, that echos into a change of heart and eventually improves the world. Yeah, I have to say, for me, Lich has been my favorite of the paths I've finished. I highly enjoyed the mechanics and story of Swarm, but, like you said, much of it just didn't feel complete. Probably a side effect of it being the last Mythic path added to the game, as far as I'm aware.

I think Gold Dragon was the last one added because it was basically a stretch goal. Lich was definitely fantastic.

My Lich play through was a blast. the front end of it was a little tough because i drained all my constitution points for charisma points and other areas. i played sorcerer so it would meld well. when i became undead i went from a glass cannon to a absolute monster and was foddering even the strongest enemy's with ease. my party members felt like mere play things( i didn't use the undead ones because i had specific build and roles for the party members i choose). i felt my character would take over the world afterward.

I passed as a Warrior, and on Legend I decided to change to a Mutation Warrior with a Barbarian, these two classes made my level 40 hero so strong that in most places I could go through everything blindfolded with him alone. With a build for critical hits and Final Strikes, a two-handed Rovagug ax, and a ring that made all your attacks power-based, it was just an unstoppable death machine. I'm going through the Lich path right now and could you tell me or show me a screenshot of your build?

I personally like Trickster for the Isles DLC. Not being able to have the full meal is less of an issue when you can get multiple opportunities to sample the buffet in a relatively similar amount of time. Having no story to worry about takes the hard RP out of the equation. It feels like trying to out bullshit an equally cruel DM peppering his mobs with some nasty buffs.

I completed only the Lich and Swarm mythic paths (both as a dhampir inquisitor with a dog companion). I enjoyed it a lot, although I needed to do come up with some justifications regarding some of my joices. Once the enhanced edition is available I am planning to do another playthrough, I have come up with 4 options but I am not sure which one to choose, maybe some of you could help: 1. Kitsune, Sword Saint (+ potentially Duelist/Aldori Swordlord), Desna worshipper, MP: Azata - basically an anime (shonen) protagonist, free spirit that wants to travel the world and become the greatest swordsman (so a combination of Zoro and Luffy from One Piece). Power of friendship, freedom etc. She might change to Gold Dragon later on. 2. Oread, Student of Stone, Irori worshipper, MP: Aeon - a disciplined monk that is very devoted to the law. He is not easily swayed by emotions (you could say he has a heart of stone ) and is ready to bring balance to the world (like a more stoic Aang from Avatar the last Airbender). Might change to Devil. 3. Human, Vivisectionis, Cayden Cailean worshipper, MP: Trickster - just a travelling crazy alchemist (with some evil tendencies but overal chaotic in nature) that stumbled into the crusade and rolled with it. Doesn't take anything seriously and treats the crusade as his playground. 4. Half-orc, Warpriest (not sure whic one; Cult leader or Proclaimer), Zon-Kuthon worshipper, MP: Demon - not much nuance here your typical fanatical and angry beast that slowly realises what kind of opportunity lies before him. He can become a true demon lord and wreck havoc upon the world, become a legend and please his god (who might as well be Khorne from Warhammer at this point).

Vivisectionis of Cayden Cailean? Atheist I think is more suitable for that type of a character. An alchemist, who always had problems with moral aspects of his job, find himself leading crusade, which gives hi opportunity to uplift his experiments to whole another level. Changing not only bodies but the foundations of reality. Being servant of some gods is not really a path for sience-related character.

1. That should work very well. FYI the Kitsune specific class is 9 tailed heir under Sorcerer. Specializes in Enchantment spells and would work well here in a different way as well. 2. Oread sounds fantastic as an Aeon. I wouldn't call Devil's emotionless so I don't think it works as well there. 3. I agree with Leather that vivi's and Cayden Cailean don't really mix. Calistria is a great option and I think that could work really well for what you are talking about 4. Yup that definitely works. I am not a fan of Warpriest but that's a personal thing. Right now I am doing an Azog Beast Tamer Demon run and it's going very well.

I was initially thinking about the 9 tailed heir class, it would perfectly fit into the anime theme (Naruto and the 9 tailed fox demon) but from what I heard the class is rather underwhelming. So I am more inclined to go the 'I want to be strongest swordsman' route. But who knows, I might reconsider. Or I might simply create a companion with this class. 2. I was thinking that my monk would slowly turn evil. First he would (reluctantly) start romancing Queen Galfrey, this would awake his emotions that he tried to supress his entire life. Eventually he would succumb to the tempations of his devil advisor. So in essence an Anakin Skywalker scenario. 3. This could work too. I was toying with the idea to recreate Bartholomew Delgado from Pathfinder: Kingmaker. He was experimenting on trolls in PF:K. It wouldn't be a very faithfull recreaction since he was a lawful evil wizard but I kind of like the idea that you play as one of the secondary characters from the last game. 4. I picked the Warpriest mostly for role-playing purposes. It just fits my narrative.
