At 13:40, Mandy sounds confused because electrocuting that monster to death made it play a sound eerily similar to the scene in Home Alone when Marv gets electrocuted. Mandy uses Marv's electrocution scream a lot whenever he has a clip of someone getting electrocuted so hearing a sound bite so close to that clip actually in game threw him for a bit of a loop XD

Since his video came out, two more pieces of DLC came out. The Lord of Nothing is a sequel DLC to the Through the Ashes DLC and is... okay. And the Dance of Masks DLC is due out this Thursday, and is meant to be a late-game "party with your companions" DLC, and is going to be fully voiced. As well as containing several more archetypes. Also, fun fact... towards the end of act 2 you can find an item that lets your character summon a triceratops companion who follows you around permanently and acts as a permanent animal companion, levelling up with you and eternally replacable/resummonable if it dies. And, not only that, but after levelling up a bit it gets big enough that it acts as a mount. If you're willing to wait a bit, you'll get your rideable triceratops completely for free. :3

As someone who enjoys playing evil characters in a lot of games, this is by far the best. Playing as a demon, you feel like a demon. Playing a lich, you are a lich. You will/can do super fed up shit. And even better, the game doesn't punish you for being an evil character like a lot of other rpgs. Each mythic path is super interesting and unique. I've done like 3.5 different playthroughs, and each one feels very different from each other. Also, act 4 isn't that bad and is relatively short.

G.U.R.P.S. is a table top game like D&D, Shadowrun, Mutant Year Zero. The joke is that G.U.R.P.S. is one of the most complex and built out character creation systems, and PC's can get out of hand very quickly if a DM is not over seeing character creation.

I'm just a few minutes in now, and I have to run, but before I go (I'll come back and watch the rest later): GURPS stands for Generic Universal Role Playing System. It's a system that tries to do everything; cover all possible genres and settings; and as a result it has a staggering amount of character creation option, and anyone who wants to run it has to pare them down to options appropriate to their setting, genre, and tone.

This was first time mine and mandalore opinions didn't align. Act 4 (Abyss) is a gem of this game. I have never seen such interesting and unique locations in any type of games. Amount of interesting quests and dialogues, even unique content for each mythic path is amazing. Being an ascending angel and meeting abyssal demons is interesting experience, but if you ascending into a demon, everyone starts to treat you as more or less equal, changing their dialogues. I liked most of this review, but his opinion on Abyss is straight up wrong.

Some things I can tell you: Mounted combat is extremely powerful in this game, so if you wanna take a class that rides dinosaurs... go wild my friend. That said some dinos don't start as "large" creatures, so you won't be able to ride them until they get some levels in or you get an ally to cast "enlarge" on them so you can ride for a limited period of time. The army battles are indeed a slog but, as someone mentioned before in a comment, there is a mod that allows you to instantly win them, so maybe consider it. Speaking of mods, there is one called "Expanded Content" that adds a bunch of Pathfinder classes to the game... in case you felt that there weren't enough choices already LMAO As for the classes themselves, all can be viable in the Normal difficulty and below, higher difficulties might require you to use heavily optimized builds with plenty of tricks and a lot of savescumming to get through. If you don't play those however, you can have fun with almost anything you decide to play. Finally, there should be a new DLC comming in less than a week, with even more subclasses (they don't stop), but I've also heard they are expanding a bit more into one or two mythic paths that so far had been quite bare bones compared to the more fleshed out ones.

not only can you ride triceratops, but some classes are dedicated to mounted combat. you get BONUSES for riding a triceratops into battle. halflings can ride velociraptors without shenanigans i think.

About this being studios first game: Owlcat is composed of Russian gamedev veterans. Primarily they came from Nival, which for wester players might be familiar by Heroes of might and magic 5, bu for Russian players they're known for many strategies and RPG games.

Pre-buffing your characters through spells is practically mandatory from mid-game on normal or higher difficulties, it makes such a difference. Applying all of them manually is a real slog (through which I played on launch). I heard BubbleBuffs mod really helps. After last DLC I will definetly use it

Hope you give this a try. BG3 is amazing and I do think it does amazing feat of bringing Dnd to gamers. But Pathfinder isn't dumb down to make it feel so much more rewarding that your choices matter.

for 6:20. This is Pathfinder, it is very possible to make bad/weak builds, and Owlcat will gladly throw powerful stuff at you. It should be noted that at Normal difficulty the enemies deal 20% less damage and their crits also do less. Also the first time your characters would die they instead get's knocked down and gets a DeathsDoor debuf.

as to 6:27 I've run a ton of random hodgepodge builds for pure fun and can say that pretty much everything is viable until you start running core difficulty or above. There are some classes that, at the moment are generally considered to not be worth running. The major outlier being defender of the true world druid. as DoTR is a carry over from kingmaker where you fought a lot more fey type enemies compared to wrath which is predominately demons. obviously as you said some classes have the "optimal" sub class that many will point to if you want to run that archetype but for the most part everything is viable so long as you understand what the class does, where it wants its stats, and what its approach to combat generally is.

I adore this game. Love the story and you can be as nice/evil as you want and the story doesn’t usually lean too hard into punishing you for either way (although sometimes being smart is better then being evil). Love the companions in this game, and even with the evil ones it’s really interesting to keep them around and bond with them. Personally I love Wenduag and Daeran even when I was a good character lol. The only issue I had when getting into it was that it was a lot of reading. Kinda like an old school ttrpg anyway! I’m about to do another run of this game after being a kitsune who kinda just bent reality and even the tabletop rules to stab her enemies better. The game is over-the-top in an absolutely awesome way and it’s so much fun once you get fully into it.

Respecing is in a weird place tbh. for a large chunk of the game it is easy, and you get a couple re specs free before having to pay gold. but there are certain points in the game where it is either difficult to get to, or downright impossible and what's worse is that it can be contingent on choices you make that you may not even know that its a choice your first time around. That said absolute worst case scenario the toybox mod has the option available at all times, and unlike in game respec you can fully change every facet of your character through it if you so choose.

39:10 it gets worse actually, the fear justification is only if you choose an evil path, if you're on the good paths then her justification simply becomes she was jealous that you did in months what she couldn't in decades. her entire justification for sending away the lynchpin of the war becomes petty jealousy. it is in part what makes her a very derisive character in the game, compared to the original module.

at around 20:00 I will point out one exception here that mandy showed a clip of earlier in the video, minor spoilers, fairly early on there's a section where you have to defend a location. this fight in particular is horrendous if you play purely on turn based mode. I quite literally mean the difference between a 5-10 minute fight vs a 2 hour minimum slog fest. The one thing I do recommend to anyone who plays the game who haven't dabbled with RTwP is to use it in fights where you think your team is more then likely able to just sweep the encounter with minimal input on your end, and if at any point during the fight you feel the need to slow down and take that extra time to ensure you do what ever you want to do swap it back to TB. The game most of the time does a great job of making it basically a seamless transition mid combat.

Yeah you can ride any animal companion as long as it's a size bigger than you. Which most start at "medium" and get to "large" by lv 9 I think. Or you can play a halfling which gives more options. Or you can play Azata and ride a dragon late game. Lot o' options. Really the characters you get and how much they like you are more choice locked than alignment locked. Like you can get Regill just by doing a game event but if you run the crusade like a chaotic mess, he won't like that. On the other hand, being chaotically good doesn't mean every decision has to be the most anarchic choice ever. So the 2 of you can be kind of buds even if your alignments are polar opposites. That's not true for everyone, but people leaving is more down to personality than what is written on their sheet.

I don't want to scare you away! If you never played any old DnD you will need to read a lot to understand the system, but man it's so good. It will be an unpopular opinion, but BG3 is praised bc of full VA and great looking dialog scenes plus simple system. While Pathfinder doesn't have that, it got better story, system and EVIL endings and playing. About companions that are "Evil" - It may be a little spoiler, but think about it, a man was Neutral Evil his whole life and will he change his ways just bc you told him to be better? No, he will not. And Brother, fuck act4 and fuck that bullshit rotating platforms with the camera rotation. Play it, its the best cRPG on the market.

The Crusader battles look like a very cheap knockoff of Heroes of Might and Magic, which has a similar system as its main combat mechanic except it's perfected into an absolutely janky mess that you can exploint eight ways to Sunday. Eastern Europeans love the series to the point where it is to them what Starcraft is to Koreans or Age of Empires 1 to the Vietnamese.

I didn't fine the Abbyss nearly as bad as Mandalore put it, personally but what I disagree the most with is how he didn't like Through the Ashes. I absolutely adored the more down to Earth and gritty approach they took although I imagine it might not be for everyone. Haven't played the sequel yet.

I played this one a lot, the music for the mythics paths are ones of my favorites games' music. Unfortunately, the armies fights didn't improve. About the endgame and the lack of interactions with companions, the last dlc for the game is scheduled on the 13th and should add a lot of that (at least they promised that)
