Great tips good sir. I, for one, didn't know about the books and just sold them. Good advice on multiclassing Lann. I'd like to offer 2 tips myself. 1) Don't forget to use hold, H by default. There's been many times, before I discovered hold, when I've sent Woljif in to disarm a trap, under stealth, when as soon as a mob is spotted, the entire party comes running and sets off the trap. Hold stops them running into the trap. 2) Don't be afraid to play with manual formations. I find the auto formation system makes some odd decisions (such as putting Seelah third in the line), thus using manual formations allows you place who you like where you like, such as tanks up front, melee DPS, next row to the side, for flanking, and ranged and casters way back in the rear. If done well (and using feats like Precise Shot) the tanks and DPS can keep the mobs away from the ranged and casters, whilst they do their thing without penalty.
@SlanderedGaming3 жыл бұрын
Wow formations is so natural to me I didn't even think about it. Will definitely mention that in the next video. Thanks!

About tip 1 - I would advise against using both dragon scales early on as you need at least one of them for Storyteller if you want to choose a certain mythic path. For me, the most important CC in Act 1 actually came from Woljif (Grease) and Nenio (Create Pit), especially on higher difficulties. You can also purchase scrolls of Web in Defender's Heart. To me, the entire attack on Defender's Heart becomes exponentially easier once Grease/Web are applied in the entrances. Create Pit isn't bad either but Grease/Web allows you the added advantage of keeping disabled enemy units above ground to be picked off by range. It's also great for some harder fights like Topaz Solutions, Tirabade Residence, Gwerm's Mansion, etc. where a greased doorway can have you shooting fish in a barrel in no time.
@SlanderedGaming3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I personally wasn't using those spells but I am trying them out in my new playthrough.
@davidpeters6743 Жыл бұрын
Create Pit is awful for that since you HAVE to kill the Arsonists and the Pit traps them so you can't, and therefore drags the whole thing on for a bunch of extra turns.
@jeremymorrow9477 Жыл бұрын
@@davidpeters6743 You don't drop them back where the arsonists are. You put them up front to catch the guys running in while you prioritize arsonists in the back using ranged. Web and Grease are far more useful though. I only use Create Pit as a third layer of protection because of that very issue.

Easiest time I had in act 1 on Unfair is going all-out melee + charge party, taking care to open the battles charging to catch enemies flat-footed. I would suggest going solo once you reach the tavern until close to level 6, you can do so just by doing Woljif's quest, the market central area with Hurlun and the Desnans, and the tower with the right positioning and well-timed pillar collapsing. As for the Grey Garrison, Ember is essential to slumber Minahgo and end that fight quickly because otherwise it's baaad. The hardest fight is the gal that summons a bunch of swarms, and the easiest way to win this is to rush her with a melee party.
@jasonpauldegraaf2 жыл бұрын
I think understanding the Ghost Touch property is very important in Act I (Market Square). You can get it via 1) Camellia weapon enchantment ability and 2) from Finnean. Fighting the Shades and Shadow Demon with these enchantments is extremely important.
@tomsimpkins12113 жыл бұрын
Use the chokeholds and natural barriers to your advantage. Unlike Kingmaker where even 'small' passages could fit four trolls abroad, you can often times plop Seelah in the way of a door and have Daeron spam heals on her while everyone else peppers the enemies with arrows. Or you could set up between a few crates with walls on either side and use that scroll of create pit directly between them, drop entangle in that gateway, etc. Battlefield manipulation is great in Righteous.

Yup absolutely I will mention that in Act 2 tips.

I think one thing that wasn’t mentioned but for higher difficulties I thing a really important hex is Protective Luck. This hex can single handedly keep your tank up. Evil Eye is great for killing enemies but in most act one fights protective luck spammed on your tank can single handedly keep the tank up even in huge groups of enemies. Considering how the AI works I think it’s super valuable on harder difficulties.

Camellia is a very interesting character to build for sure. I have experimented with some ideas to use her as effective frontline: 1. Go lvl 2 for Iceplant & get Icy Protector, but start putting levels into Fighter-Mutation Warrior from lvl 3 onwards. This way you get both Weapon Focus and Fencing Grace/Slashing Grace at lvl 3 (with the choice of almost any martial weapon). Dodge at lvl 4. Mutagen & Outflank at lvl 5. She gets some power spikes at each level to stay on top both in damage and tanking. RP-wise this build can also be justified: she *is* a monster at heart, and took inspiration from the mongrels, particularly those in the Shield Maze. 2. Still, Iceplant & Icy Protector, but from lvl 3 start putting levels into Barbarian-Instinctual Warrior. IW is a very tanky class with high HP and high AC, a great alternative to Monk for non-lawful tank characters. Starting from IW lvl 2 she gets AC from Wis if not wearing armor or shield, as well as Uncanny Dodge. You will need to burn some Shield scrolls on her and have Mage Armor up as much as possible, but will be well rewarded with great performance. RP justification: she's a bloodthirsty sadistic psycho that has kept herself (mostly) concealed and in-check, in other words, a disciplined savage with a methodical approach to carnage. Both these builds hold up very well as you level up: the MW build gets progressively stronger Mutagens and access to all the Fighter abilities, and the IW build gets Dodge and Natural Armor that scales with level.

Grease is really good at crowd control early on, too - but placing it is tricky, you have to watch out that you don't end up crowd controlling your own team more than the enemy. For the tavern battle, I swear by Entangle - covers a huge area, really slows down the bum-rush. I mentioned it in one of the playthrough videos. I put Entangle on the northern gate to slow down the enemies and get like half of them stuck, then my ranged characters can pick those off while my other characters then focus on the ones coming in over the walls and, ultimately, face off against that minotaur. If Seelah has her mount I will sometimes have the mount positioned up by that northern gate to hold the line (Seelah *not* actually mounted) to soak up attacks until inevitably 'F' for pony but it does its job in the meantime. (This seems to have once been a much, much tougher fight but now it's not as hard, but it's still a great way of getting through it, especially on higher difficulty levels. I play on a customized Core. But I still think it was once tougher, even at that level. In any case a fight like this can benefit then from not only having entangle up there, but layering on a grease or even two right at that gate to get enemies falling all over themselves. They have to save for each separate effect).

I would add a caveat with Camellia being a tank, if your MC can tank making Camellia a tank is a bit of a waste and giving her iceplant seems non optimal. Many people like to play tanky characters so I am not sure if Camellia is best build is a third tank IF your own character is also a tank. Your thoughts?
@AIRGEDOK3 жыл бұрын
@@fonBraunen granted, but how does this pertain to my position that Camellia is wasted as a tank IF your main character is a tank? Make no mistake I don't dispute your position I just don't understand how it is a valid comment in terms of making a Camellia a tank or not, as i would gather that the lack of amulet slot hurts her regardless of build so all builds need more optimization to compensate for this.
@AIRGEDOK3 жыл бұрын
@@fonBraunen Seems a waste to me having 3 tanks for act 1. The argument random crits makes no sense to me, if that is the argument and it stands that the argument for any main character being a fail if it isn't a tank is random crits but obviously that is false. Also you better male Lann a tank as well because I mean random crits could just happen. Having two tanks in the party for act 1 is more than enough. Seelah can't be anything else in act 1 but a front line tank and if your main character is a tank then its likely the case for the main character as well. Camellia however can be a tank for act 1 but Camellia can also NOT be a tank but something else. Ergo if you have two tanks you will likely get a far better return using Camellia to crowd control, buff, debuff and heal than tanking. Again you add in facts i don't dispute but are pointless to the discussion. Mid to late game consideration have no validity to Act 1. Nor does one amulet of nature +4 replaces iceplant + ring. It is irrelevant because where are you going to get a +4 amulet of nature in act 1? What you say about her is true but this is a specific video about helping people get through act 1. If camellia in act 6 becomes a ice cream sundae that auto kills any single creature once per combat that isn't relevant to the discussion unless doing x build in act 1 would preclude her from her ice cream sundae of death transformation. In other words Camellia's value later in the game isn't important to act 1. Again this is all predicated on the fact that your main character is a tank and we are talking about tips and tricks for act 1.
@SlanderedGaming3 жыл бұрын
I think that more so comes down to personal playstyle. I usually have three tanks (Seelah, her pet, Camellia/Woljif). You get through with just two tanks just fine in Act 1. If you are not using Ember that's even more reason to have Camellia focus on casting hexes like Slumber instead of tanking.

Does ascended element negative energy allow necromancy spells to work on undead or enemies with immunities to death effects or spells?
@napalm7773 жыл бұрын
It allows negative energy to bypass all immunity's and resistances, this means that undead normally healed by a DAMAGING negative effect, are not healed, and hurt normally. This does not stop you from healing them accidently or on purpose with spells designed specifically to heal using negative energy, and it wont make your healing negative spells damage the living. To bypass undead immunity to mind altering effects is a different ability though ( like bard songs or illusion spells) can be done with undead heritage sorcerers. A example of this is, say you have liches ability to convert all energy damage into negative energy, aka fireball is now negative damage. With ascendant element this will make your negative energy fireball harm undead, but this also includes your OWN undead minions. But if you diddnt have ascendant element, your undead would be unharmed and the enemys would be hurt by the same spell. So depending on your build, ascendant element can actually be a detriment in some situations! This goes for say, ascendant fire too, Protection from fire and resist fire will not protect your teammates from your own fireballs anymore. Instant death magic is different (unless mind altering death effects with undead heritage), and immunity to negative levels is different.

I don't suppose you have info on where all the elven notes are, that's the one thing freaking me out about doing my next run. Do I spend all my character's skill points in preparation for the lexicon skill checks, or do I hope I find enough elven notes to complete the quest before it. Making it hard to decide how to build my character since I'm doing core and can't respec.

There’s two that I know of in chapter 1. 1 in gwerms mansion. 1 in gray garrison. If you speak to storyteller before the visit to gwerms mansion, that one doesn’t show up. Or there’s something timey wimey about that order because on my last play through I ran all the stuff in chapter 1 without camellia (to force a different play style with seelah and woljiff) and when I went to gwerms right before dh defense the note wasn’t there.

I ended up getting extras (between 3 and 7 don’t remember exact number) so try not to stress too much. They are all over the place.

I don't have all of them written down but I will put together a couple of videos for the ones I do know of. As previously mentioned there are more of them in the game than what you need.

Camilla already has ghost touch. Finian is the only weapon that can hurt ghosts in act 1

Yeah having Finnean is very useful.

Use anything - except midnight bolt. This one should be held until big goat guy i think.

You get multiple other midnight bolt's but I'll definitely mention it in the next video.

@@SlanderedGaming yea you will get some more later, but i found it almost impossible to do Mr. Goatman in act 4 he have insane ac and magic resistance and saves, there is basically no way to scratch him except those bolts. Well lich spellsc could do it but not everyone is lich i guess.

I don't know why but I finds path of the righteous way better than kingmaker. Kingmaker literally hits me with a random hydra Battle in the overworld. Owlcat really outdid themselves.
@SlanderedGaming3 жыл бұрын
Yup I like this game considerably more. I will only replay Kingmaker once and th's just for the channel otherwise I would leave it alone. I love replaying this game.
@cyrusvile66222 жыл бұрын
I would argue act 1 is the hardest in the entire game. As your abilities still suck, and enemies have inflated stats without cheese For camellia tangle is your best friend. Use Meta magic selective at lvl 3. Tangle will eventually be upgraded for a stronger version. That spell can handle core sometimes even unfair.
@SlanderedGaming2 жыл бұрын
Nice I actually never used that spell. I will keep it in mind.

Yes I was referring to the Crusaders. Dragon Hunt also has a limit I believe but that's not until Act 3.

I fought the playful darkness yesterday, idk of it was my fault cuz I have unknowingly made poor builds, but that thing was unbeatable for me, had to lower difficulty to beat it

I will say on core, tanking with camillia is a problem for me. I never got ice plant honestly, as long term o don't like it much compared to bark skin. But still with everything up she dies kind of fast. Then again seelah has gotted hit for 58 in the prologue so the moght ne part of it. That and I like melee fighters more, andshe just isn't out doing my main. Hmm although I can have her riding that triceratops. Crazy noble lady riding a dino......brb I gotta see something.......
@SlanderedGaming3 жыл бұрын
LOL Keep in mind I believe Ice Plant stacks with Barkskin so you don't have to choose between them.
@ibysdagon46593 жыл бұрын
@@SlanderedGaming you are indeed correct. Just tested it. Guess iceplant is considered natural armor and bark skin is natural are enhancement which are 2 different buds. Guess I'll have to add that in on the next round of hexes and try her again. Thanks.
