Pathfinder Youth Weekend Simple Machine Challenge

This weekends FREE National Pathfinder Youth Weekend saw lots of great projects and Team building exercises, this challenge was one of my favorites! Using a Simple Crane and Rollers to transfer heavy objects over distance.

I can't get over the fact that there are no cell phones exposed... I remember in 3rd grade in the late 80's my class went on a trip to a Lenni Lenape state park. We separated into teams to assemble a longhouse. It's things like what's in this video is what sticks with you for life.

The hardest part of working with young people is after explaining and showing them the task, all adult mouths shut and let the young folks figure it out. They need experience making mistakes and then finding a solution.
