GTRE Kaveri: 49-51 kN of military thrust that increases to 73-75 kN of maximum thrust with afterburner; weight of 1180 kg (without afterburner). GE F404: 49 kN of military thrust that increases to 79 kN of maximum thrust with afterburner; weight of 991 kg (without afterburner). If endurance and performance at high altitudes and low temperatures with low heat signature is as good as GE, and they can reduce the engine weight, we have a winner. Kudos! It has been a long and tough road but with the requirement to be able to manufacture single crystal turbine blades or even ceramic blades, it was a tough challenge.

@@JonnyHindu I think you missed a zero....it used to be 1400 kg, but now the weight is 1180 kg. But DRDO plans to reduce weight to below 1 tonne. GE F404 weight is 991 kg.

@@arindamghatak 140+ kg high compare to GE F-404. That's what I was saying. Yes, the last info. on Kaveri engine is ~1180kg. Hope GTRE able to lower it further to below 1050kg and increase the thrust above 55KNT (Dry) and 85KNT (Wet). 🤞 But some important information are not available in public. Like Endurance, Fuel Consumption, Smoke amount, Stability on different conditions etc. Hope they'll also be comparable to GE F-404 or better F-414. ✌️

F-16 Fighting Falcon: 106 kN (F100-PW-200 engine) using afterburner F-35 Lightning II: 191 kN using afterburner (Pratt & Whitney F135 engine) Sukhoi Su-57 Felon: 142.2 kN using afterburner (AL-41F1 engine) What will Tejas do in front of F-16s or J-10s or J-35s with just 70-75 KN max?

Americans and British had a d3ad start from stolen German technology . It is good that bharat has developed its own jet engine . 2,000 carore rupees spent on development is a very small amount compared to independence in jet engines for numerous uses that Bharat needs. For Dumdumz, Kaveri program funding was stopped in 2006. DRDO then developed it using internal funds. India spent only 500mil dollars on Kaveri whereas Waystern countries who have decades of experience and all necessary facilities spent on average 20bil per new engine. Chainez have spent 50bil on their program and their engines are less capable than Rus. Bharat despite not having any previous experience, and not having necessary test facilities and even funding our scientists have performed nothing short of miracle by developing engine of global standards.

This is great news. When they started in 1989 even a scooter was not being designed in India. It takes billions of USD to develop a jet engine. 2000 Crore INR is just 250 million USD a small fraction of the required cost. For testing the engine, they need to take it to Russia. आमतौर पर एक अच्छे 5th जनरेशन एअरफायटर की स्पीड 90 से 95 Kn होनी चाहिए और अफ्टरबर्नर थर्स्ट 145/150 Kn होना चाहिए, अगर 38 साल से इतना पैसा खर्च करके भी हम इंजिन का स्पीड नही बढा सकते तो समय और पैसा क्यों व्यर्थ में खराब कर रहे है, या तो रिवर्स इंजिनिअरिंग करो या बाहर से tot के साथ खरीदो यही एक रास्ता है…जरुरी यह नही की हम नाकाम रहे जरुरी यह है की हमने पुरी कोशिश की…वैज्ञानिकों के हौसले और परिश्रम का सम्मान करें, जयहिंद…!!!🇮🇳

1) Earlier alk YT Channels were screaming at the top of their voice that the dry thrust was 51 kn and with 29kn of afterburner the available thrust would be 80 kn and efforts are on to increase this thrust and for use in Tejas MK2 (2) why symbol of GE is appearing in this report?

Brahmos aerospace is actually developing wet section which help in increase thrust of kaveri to 80 - 82kn in indian conditions
