I really enjoy your videos Luke! Life as an Army Ranger: Humping + 80-lbs. rucks up and mountains, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and helicopters, plus firefights = arthritis throughout spine and joints, 1 knee replacement and 2nd in near future, 70 % loss of hearing! But I'm still above dirt!!

At first the outdoors video's bored me , but soon found myself in an outdoors shop spending well over$750 bucks on gear I really feel in love with hiking and camping thx to luke😂, it does show just how spoiled we are compared to the life people had to endure 100 yrs ago? I've used everything I've learned from Luke and it has saved me in some really unexpected situations I downloaded a lot of his videos and used them in these situations. Thanks for your inspiration for the great outdoors it is truly a wonderful experience 👍

One of the things that I love about watching your videos not only are they telling us tips on what to do and what not to do when camping. But I absolutely love it when you tell stories on things it's happened to you while camping or stories about you and your brother

Shot a buck one year, a very nice eight point, but one of the tines was snapped off. I did a European mount and hung it on the wall. The next year I was out in the same area about a mile away and spotted something off the side of the trail and pocket the broken tip of a deer antler. A few nights later I was watching some TV and eyeballing my mounted rack. You've guessed it by now I'm sure, but I fetched that piece I'd found and sure enough, a perfect match. I glued it in there and now it is once again an eight point rack.

Hi there Luke I am an 62y old Grandmother. I use to love camping with my youngest daughter, many years ago. But since i have come to watch your viedos, i want to ho camping again. Can't go very far, for med reason. We bought a 7 acre (btw we live in eastern Canada), and 2/3 of it is forest. So I'm thinking of camping here in our back woods, with my grandkids. And we have lots of wildlife, like bears, deer, coyotes, foxes and so on. Thank you for your inspiration. Love your videos and all the best to you and Susie ❤❤❤

Love watching your channel. I’m a 67y/0 female, who camped often with my kids and grandkids and loved every minute. Now I have early dementia and severe arthritis with spinal cord involvement, as well as multiple joints over entire body. I keep thinking that maybe I could camp in the back of my truck, I definitely can’t sleep on the ground. Until I figure it out, if I can, thanks for bringing me o your adventures

Weirdest thing I found while hiking: I was on this really long thruhike in December back in 2003. Somewhere in the mountains. They were very rugged beautiful but dangerous as well. It was in Afghanistan lol. Found a cave. Right by our OP. We had been on that mountain for a week and walked past the cave opening I have no idea how many times. Crazy. Talk about having a mini-heart attack. Team leader and I dropped our gear and cleared the cave. Thankfully it wasn’t occupied but had it been, they had high ground over our Battalion HQ and our LZ.

The Backwoods Bunglow tent is not Hilleberg and it's no good in strong winds, but the concept of a large A-frame tent with a "porch" has made it my favorite tent. Not very heavy either. For 3/4s of what most do, this is a very comfortable and roomy tent. Fantastic value.

Don`t have to backpack 10 miles to have a great video Luke. As long as you share your skills and talent with us that`s good enough. Take care of that leg. Thanks again for taking us along on another adventure. I also wouldn`t worry about it cause all of our adventures work out and nothing goes wrong, lol. Greetings from California. Hope all is well with you and the family. You said you hoped to educate and inspire. Well you have. In my 20’s and 30’s I backpacked in the Sierras with two small children. That changed to car camping in my 40’s after back and knee injuries. At 50 & 60, sleep apnea and a heart arrhythmia kept me away from camping. I’m now 83 and sleep in a recliner, and walk the local trails using an “off-road” walker. After watching you sleep in your chair wrapped in the swagman, and the episode in an hammock, I thought “there is a way”. I have hung on to all my old lightweight camping gear and am adding a hammock. Thanks for the video on seam sealing as I’m making a silnylon tarp to go over it. Experimenting using a 3 candle UCO lantern for tea, light, and perhaps a bit of heat; bet it will cook an egg, we will see! Your videos have given me a ton of new ideas and they have been an excellent review of the things I learned long ago. The other thing that convinced me to do this is that your adventures are mostly 1 day escapes! Many thanks!

I used it once last week. Really easy to put up and good cozy space inside. Instead of using two poles or sticks laying around, I pitched the tent by using a ridge line securing each end of tent with prusik knot. Really worth and useful tent.

This is my favourite thing to do, exploring back roads. You always want to know what's around the next corner. I've come across some amazing vistas which I also love to paint. I do the same as you, look for beautiful spots to stop at and just enjoy nature. For things not going as planned it is an incredible video, Luke. Very enjoyable just to see you sitting at a camp fire, eating dinner and chatting with us. I feel like I'm sitting across from you and just listening. You're a great story teller. The strangest item I found while hiking and it wasn't even on a trail. I was taking a shortcut off trail and using my compass because I knew I would eventually run into a logging road that ran east-west. Beneath a tree was an expensive blanket...I believe it was a Rumpl down blanket and they usually run around $130 to $150. It was partially covered with fallen leaves. The vivid color caught my eye and I was shocked after brushing the leaves away. It was in excellent condition. Another thing I found while hiking in the Arizona desert near Gila Bend. As the head medic I had access to the gunnery range when it was "cold" (no active bombing or strafing). I came across an old Army Jeep covered with camo netting. Normally these old vehicles were brought in to be targets for the A-10's out of Tucson and they were supposed to be left open for visualization purposes. I heard years later before I retired in Texas that someone got busted for taking some of these "targets" to rebuild and sell them.

But not just with the knee pain, it’s migrated due to weight distribution too stop the knee pain. Luke Love 💖, look after your knees. Like I said, I was 12-13 yrs old, just after a shot putt comp. twisted my ankle, I’m coming up to 56 and still having issues. I’ve no knee caps, they took them out years ago. Still no better off. I have the same stove. Love it! Once going, will burn the wettest of twigs. As you stated, takes constant feeding, but what else are you gonna do late at night camping. Weirdest thing I’ve found on a remote trail is a Quick Trip(closest QT is 2hrs away) egg n cheese biscuit. My dog was ecstatic! Most likely a hunter dropped it.

Awesome video!!! I love exploring old service roads, finding a place to set up camp and spend a few days doing day hikes. I'm 72 now so no longer do overnight treks. Sometimes there is evidence of partying and/or spent shells scattered about. Nope, that's not a good option and, like you, I head off to find something safer further on down the road. If there is trash, I'll gather it up and take it out when I leave. Well, this is gross but here goes: my dog and I were doing a day hike out from one such campsite. He stopped and picked something up and was just so darn pleased with his treasure. Upon investigation, I discovered he'd picked up a plastic tampon dispenser. EWWWW!!! Seriously? Just how much trouble would that have been to take out? People can be such pigs. I always carry some zip locks to remove my own TP so had a safe place to store that and pack it out. Not much grosses me out but that kind of thing is a trigger for sure. I've learned to find places further and further from the main roads especially when a town is nearby. Oh, and, yes, most reviews are phoney. I don't shop Amazon. If I find something on Amazon I'll go to the company website and buy direct. Prefer American- or Canadian-made. An Oregon nomad 🌲💗🐶🐺💗🌲

I used to hike with a great guy, and then he taught me how to hike on my own. He had done alot of hiking. Never left his compass at home. I was out on my own one day when I got lost. Really, didn't recognize anything. We had alot of forest behind the cabin, and had picked alot of mushrooms in the area, plus a great many (I counted 60 patches once) others. So I called him back at the cabin on my old cell which thankfully worked (flipphone). "I'm lost!" I said. I knew enough not to continue on. "Just a minute." He went outside with his compass. He said "Go a little SW of the sun. You aren't far. If you go a few hundred feet, you'll see something you recognize." I did, and in five minutes, I recognized a trail. How did he know all that? He knew my cell had a range of twenty minutes hiking. I hadn't been gone that long. We had made trails for 10 years in the area. So a move towards the cabin (SW of the sun) would bring me inside range. He also knew I was in a "playpen" surrounded by major trails and forest roads. My momentary concern was gone. Good lesson.

During the summer I drive a big old Dodge campervan. It's 20 ft length makes for some fun 8-10 point turns when parking, although we are seldom that deep in the woods. Nice trip. Take care of your leg.

As I'm watching this video I see that it was posted on March 12th 2020. That weekend is when most people I talk to realized Covid was going to be serious. That is also the weekend in which I did nothing but search for toilet paper the whole damn weekend! I finally found recycled toilet paper at a Target that Sunday. Fun times!

Hi Luke..when I heard that owl it made me laugh,I wonder if they don’t follow you. They are a beautiful bird. I had one at the back of my house and every night we talked to each other before bed. I would say that the tent would take a good rain storm. That was a nice camp site. I wonder if maybe it could have been a timber wolf? I heard them and their call just chills you! my husband and I went up to Pointe Au Baril and I have so many fond memories of our trips. You would have to paddle up for two hours and have many places to stop and carry the canoe and everything,if there wasn’t much rain up there that year. Talk of mosquitos Luke just at dusk they sounded like b52’s coming out of the forest. Tent time!!!! Till morning you dare not go out!. The loons were beautiful to listen too, just like the owls. Nature is beautiful! Wonderful memories to have, and like you say ....(never forget) great videos Luke keep them coming.🦉🦟🐺🔥🌲👍

Hi Luke we were camping in the San Gabriel Valley Mts. And we were hiking with my uncle my cousin and me. And in the middle of nowhere in the mts. I found a chocolate donut untouched and delicious.

The weirdest thing I encountered on the trail was not an object, but a person. It was 8-9 years ago at Point Reyes National Seashore about 30 miles north of San Francisco. It was David Bowie the singer. I stopped and talked to him about 2 min. Actually he was not weird at all but a very nice guy. I was very sad when he died.

Some years past.. I was hiking in the middle of the English country side. Beautiful hot summers day. Not a person or building for as far as they eye could see. As I was walking, I spotted a lake shimmering. Decided to head over for a look, a dip, maybe fill.my old dented canteen. As I approached I noticed a wheelie bin under a tree. As I got closer I noticed the lid was chained down. Noticed the bin was strapped to the tree with a lorry load strap. This is not normal in the middle.of nowhere. Even less normal, a streak of red liquid running down the sod of the bin. I thought animal carcass, maybe. I thought someone's body might be in there. I had too look.. no choice.. Very very gingerly undid the chain and opened the lid.. Bundles, all wrapped in floral cloth.. As i opened the cloth of the bundles I found... Branches.. cut branches, wrapped in floral cloth and put in a bin by a lake in the middle of nowhere. And the red liquid i saw.. dried paint. Glad it wasn't a carcass or a body, but still, why wrap bundles in floral cloth, why chain the lid closed, why strap the bin to a tree? Weirdest thing I've found as yet.

Luke, how’s it? something strange found. My buddy Mike and I we’re backpacking/fly fishing the white river in the White River National Forest in Colorado. In a small circular Aspen grove draped across a huge flat boulder was a large, either bear or elk skinned hide. Let me tell you I fear NOTHING in the wild. I’m 60 now been backpacking and in the Colorado backcountry since I was 9 when we found this I must have been in my 20’s this really creeped us out!!!
