I have the 25 and love it. Just bought Arkel panniers. Ordering the rollpacker 25 handlebar system as well. Great products and worth the money. Treat yourself. You're worth it.

That looks ideal for people like me (short) I find Carradice bags supported by their SQR system hit the wheel over bumpy terrain, so having the bag on top of the support looks like the perfect solution.

I like the wrist rocket in the back ground.. Yes looking forward to see how the bags do with heavy loads and over night trips.

Can you elaborate on why you didn't like the bag mounted on top of the carrier? Considering buying this system as I have a small framed bike and I'll need to run the bag on top. Thanks!

Great first look Russ. I had sticker shock too, that's why I waited for the BF sale. It was only 15% off but that's still better than full price.

In Arkel’s website there was mention of adapting this bag to the handlebars as well. Do you know if this is happening soon. I think I would prefer the seatpacker 15 for the rear and the rollpacker for the front. I’m sure the extra cost is in the rack for the system. I’ve read in blogs that the seatpacker stays put better than any other seat pack. I think the same would be true for the rollpacker making it well worth the extra cost. Thanks for the video

Interesting. Will look into how it mounts on the front.

Russ, Arkel just came out with the front rollpacker. You think they'll give you one to review?
@bodhran19655 жыл бұрын
As you say, it's not cheap. Arkel products deliver big with details that other companies often overlook or neglect so I think the sticker price is worth it.

Hey man, thanks for posting this review because I’m one of those people who ride a smaller frame and I been struggle to find a seat bag with enough clearance. I know I’m a year late to the game, but did you have any more experience concerning the bag good or bad? I would have to ride with the bag in the upper position to make this work, so if you had any recommendations on other bags I’d appreciate your input.

So, just some feedback. I love your review. Great information, good camera work on the product. I'm not a fan of the cutaways to whatever .... I think we're here for the information presented clearly and complete.

Russ, I don't know why one of these companies doesn't makes a large-capacity waterproof duffle bag that attaches to and is supported by a larger-sized rear rack system. All the rack-mounted bags that all the major companies make are too small. They would need to have a wider rear rack or an adapter to accommodate the wider-width and longer-length, larger-capacity duffle bags. And, they could be clever and install zippers on the duffle that allow it to fold down to a smaller-capacity bag when all that room isn't needed. And, the cost wouldn't have to be exhorbitant like the system you reviewed in this video. There's no reason why a duffle bag would cost that kind of money. In fact, a company should just be smart and offer a rack that can be expanded in length and width(!!!) that can accommodate pretty much any kind of duffle bag the end-user wishes to use. If they want to make more money, they can offer some straps that work well with the rack vs. bungee cords.

@@PathLessPedaledTV Oh gosh, thanks Russ. Why isn't this style of luggage bag more popular? It's even less expensive than other luggage types, and varies greatly in size: 24L to 89L. But, due to the width of the larger capacity models, I am guessing that without some type of "structure" or material to maintain the bag's shape, you would either need 1) a wider rack, 2) some type of rack adapter that could give the rack more width, or (again) some type of bag material in the lower part of it or an adjustable structure within it to prevent drooping over the sides of the rack. I think this would be more aero than using large panniers because the rider's body would help shield at least part of the bag against wind, it would be better suited for bikepacking by placing your luggage higher up on your bike and away from rocks, trees, weeds, and water.

Thanks for putting in the price. Nice design . my new single speed fat bike was only 75 dollars more than your rack . ouch I need more money .

Russ, I don't see any real advantages to using this system versus securing a duffel bag to a traditional rear rack with bungee cords or other types of fasteners, and it'd be MUCH cheaper, too.

Found your site a month ago. Nicely done. I do find it unfair that you place “price” under dislikes. An Arkel quality is going to cost more than some junk from China. Just because its affordable for everyone does not make something good. Many things are worth the asking price.
@PathLessPedaledTV6 жыл бұрын
I think it is worth it. For me personally it is not a dislike. I understand the cost of quality goods BUT it is something I have to point out. I have done other reviews where people give me crap over the price of things so now I make the point of pointing out the price and saying some people may find it hard to swallow. Far and away if you look at the things I’ve reviewed they are from small makers and are not inexpensive. So I definitely understand the value of things.
