“Children see magic because they look for it.” - Christopher Moore
It's funny how games take on different shapes the longer you spend with them. Games are things you can inhabit in a more literal way than even a good book. Especially games designed specifically and carefully to affect the emotional state of a person. Pathologic, a game ostensibly about the crumbling of a society and death, became one of my comfort games that I'd boot up to just have a walk around in, a source of stability. That's not just because I played it to death. That's because it has light at the end of the tunnel. There's hope after you've been through hell. Good days come again.
This year though, it's been hard to find the time to really invest in a game. Like properly invest; replay, dig around, find cool stuff, push the limits and the boundaries of the game. To just... breathe.
But, of course, that's because living is something you have to do too.
I still come back to the music of my comfort games though, every day. And that's because the sound allows you to take the memories of the game, the emotions, with you. A bundled version of heaven.
Thanks to everyone as well for hanging out on my channel. I might not get round to replying to each and every comment, but it's always a pleasure to see a little notification up the top, to know that there are people enjoying and engaging with the stuff I've posted. There are some plans I have for the channel in future, not just for more Pathologic character analysis videos, but for some other analysis videos as well. Maybe even try my hand at a stream or two. We'll see. For now, I think, take the hour off. Relax. It's on me!
