I dont think not hearing someone else fighting is an oversight. I feel like its important to be able to distinguish when YOURE getting targeted so you can make quick decisions. Same for the npc models, i think its for sure a deliberate artistic choice but ALSO its for greater readability when it comes to bartering. You dont have to check every single kid for shmowders if you know which specific kind of child normally carries them, nor do you have to check which one barters for water, stuff like that. I remember in classic i would simply see distinctive walk of a drunkard from a far away and go to him, no need to run around looking which guy has bandages. Great review! I play on a shitty laptop and that trick certainly helped me. Its like 30 fps dipping into 25 probably but its not rubberbanding or jerky which is good enough for me.

Hmm I hadn't considered the audio propagating to be a deliberate choice, but now that you mention that I could totally see it. SO many of the design decisions in Pathologic 2 are clearly deliberate, even if they seem unintuitive or strange. You make another great point about the lack of NPC models, it definitely makes it way more readable, and you don't end up wasting your time chasing strangers who don't have what you need 😁 Glad you enjoyed the review and thanks for commenting!!

Speaking of Notkin, during my first playthrough I tried to save his life, because I love this character, but he died despite the cure, and my heart was broken and I was kinda stressed😰 Managed to keep him safe my second playthrough though

Yeah I always do my best to keep him, Sticky and and Murky alive no matter what. It uhhh.... Doesn't always work out lol.

I, too, wanted to start a youtube channel just to talk about Pathologic 2 but I gave up on that idea. So, congratulations on doing something I didn't! Great review, also! It made me want to play through it again. Can't say I noticed the sound issues you pointed out, I'll have to pay attention to that next time. That fix you mentioned really seemed to work well because the footage you got is 10x better than what I'm used to, but I play on "barely running toaster pc" settings. Your justification for repeating NPCs makes perfect sense, probably what the devs would say, too. I only ever added the two lines in the second step of the guide, and it bumped my FPS up like you see in the video, so seems the first step isn't necessarily a requirement. Hope that helps!
