Boat journey looked 👍. Didn't know you needed a pilot to get into port!!. That's a first and a tug boat 😮 what usually the ferry boat spins round full reverse straight in and everyone piles out.Most strange. What a total farce at customs. Cannot belive that. Thought Ancona was bad enough. Admire your coolness under duress. But as you say you made it. Great vid full of content loverly. Looking forward to the next bit. Have fun and don't let the bastards get you down. With Cyprus in so many bits it's not surprising.

Yeah the cheap tickets don’t include a room or seat. Just set up a mattress in a corner somewhere and you’re good to go.

I'd say this is the best video of the series so far. 👌 I love cool and chilled you come across even when you're doing a mini rant while waiting for customs to be done in the port. It gives me Jeremy Clarkson vibes. 😂 When you were doing your tour of the boat, it felt like some sort of murder mystery program and we were going to have to figure out where someone was murdered and what with like a game of cluedo. 😄 It looked a bit dingy when you were all alone eating your brekky. 😁 Do the guys with the whistles on the boats actually make your life easier wheh you're reversing? To me it looks like they would be much better off showing you where you need to park and leaving you to it. 😀 I know I say this on alot of your videos but I bow down to your awesomeness. 👍🏻 My anxiety wouldn't let me do half of what you do. I'd love to bump into you one day as I think you'd have some awesome stories to tell that you couldn't say on KZbin. 😄 - Scott

Thanks, this was actually the nicer of the two ships even though it stank of diesel/exhaust fumes and the doors had to be left open all the time to air out the interior. You usually have to park quite tightly together on the boats particularly the freighters. They have a much better view of things and in the dingier inside can manoeuvre you much better than yourself. They parked us that tightly together my mirror had to be folded in and I ended up about two inches off the trailer next to me. Almost never have to shunt either they park you on point first time thus speeding up loading of the boat. You were a great driver yourself I'm sure you could have handled these situations. Yes it would be cool to meet up sometime somewhen. Maybe a ride in the back of the freelander along a green lane.
@ScottandAlana4x49 ай бұрын
@@DTWTheWanderingMuzungu I'll do you a deal. I'll throw you around in the back of the Freelander along a rainy British green lane and you can stash me somewhere in the truck for a trip to somewhere warm and sunny. 😂😂 I'm sure at some point our paths will cross and you'll here me yell "Hay, Mr Dark Thoughts" which wouldn't be odd or alarming in the slightest. 🤣 - Scott

Hi, From one living in Cyprus albeit the other end to Paphos, we are not big fans of Paphos, far to touristic, but hey enjoy your stay. since Brexit the red tape here is nightmare and getting worse. If you can get north from Paphos, then Latchi is worth a visit with very nice eateries in the harbour area. Hoping your homeward journey is less of a hassle. Safe travels.

I suspect the customs fiasco is a job preservation thing. I used to run in an Aid Convoy of artics to Romania every year from the late 90s up to 2006. Fully supported by the Romanian govt but the customs people at the Hungary Romania border said that they would still be able to carry out spot checks and would do so on every non Hungarian truck in order to keep their jobs when the border would open fully in 2007 and Romania became a sort of member of the EU and they managed to do it for a few years before being laid off regardless due to cost.

Could be, Cyprus have recently made it they’re number one priority to try and join Schengen. A lot jobs could go then.

Hold up... there were truck lifts on that ferry to Cyprus. Never seen that before. Is that just to get them on deck? Edit: nevermind... you filmed what happens when they had a bunch of cars on it. Neat, though...
@DTWTheWanderingMuzungu9 ай бұрын
I assume lifts are more space efficient than a ramp but make loading a lot slower. Hence freighters use lifts and passenger ferries use ramps.

Excellent, welcome to Cyprus customs post, Brexit, I have a nightmare every time I import from UK and not from Greece. That was why you were stuck for so long, it seems they love the Brits, and the 25% your client had to pay for the load you were carrying, that was the reason you could not clear, all UK imports have about 25% added to the invoice you carry, and then an agent has to clear it, pass it to the client in Cyprus to pay before you are cleared, that cannot be paid then an there but must be paid directly to the Government Bank, via a Cypriot Bank. So most stuff when unaccompanied gets port storage applied as it also gets held up for a day or so. Basically Cyprus love the benefits they apply for Brexit, and you just found one, 24hrs waiting.
@bazvlcak75169 ай бұрын
You’re not going from Greece to Cyprus “in the EU” hence your carnet, your going from the UK, not in the EU to Cyprus, hence the carnet. Also l, the Sovereign Base Areas or “the colonial bits that the UK hung on to” have never been part of the EU.
