Pathways in the new garden. I continue to make pathways in the market garden style area. This will give us more no dig beds in which to plant home grown food.
This layout would be ideal for no dig allotment gardening, where you are allotment gardening with cardboard or anyone trying market gardening on a small scale. Click SHOW MORE for more details, resources and info.

About Us.
I share our organic homestead, called Byther Farm, with my loving partner, Mr J and our cat, Monty.
We are a fifty-something couple who live on a smallholding in Monmouthshire, Wales. We are going green and creating a gentler, cleaner and more healthy life for our family.
There is a large organic kitchen garden with no dig gardening raised beds and young food forest in which to grown our fruit and vegetables.
I'm currently exploring permaculture farming as a way of life.
We keep hybrid chickens and also have breeding flocks of Jersey Giants and Australorp chickens and Aylesbury ducks.

Never underestimate the pins Liz. You don’t want to have to run out in the middle of a storm to find something to weigh down the plastic. Lol, trust me.

Good day to you Liz !! I use the same holding staples for my weed suppressant fabric too and I like using more than you would normally use because less light can get underneath and that means more weeds will be killed off quicker

Do you plan on keeping the paths with the black weed blocker or will you put wood chips on top?

I thought this was on your new farm. I am battling with weeds in my garden paths. I love the look of wood chips but even when I put them over landscape paper, we get lots of weeds. I'm wondering if using weed blocker for paths with no mulch on top would do better.

Hi! Nice achievement! Um, er, weeding hasn't really happened here as yet. I walked past the raised beds earlier on and thought that I really ought to do them and then a cup of tea called me, so I came inside to do some work here instead. I really do need to start with the weeding though, those little plants will be monster-size before too long!

Have you considered the benefit of staggering the pins holding down your plastic? Certainly, pin the end corners but coming down the sides, here in Central Florida, we pin the sides every three feet down one side then space them on the other so they re not straight across. It gets verrry windy at our sundown and it helps. I also see no reason to hoe the grass if you are putting cardboard on top of it. Working Smart! not hard!
@LizZorab
@LizZorab 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol, yes i did put the pins in alternate place until I did that last one on camera - not sure why I did them like that for that piece of membrane. Yes to working smart not hard :-)

@@LizZorab Thats no problem Liz, I think it is just as interesting. Why do you choose not to have a dog? Most folks see it as a security measure. We have 6 acres, our dogs are mostly pets, but they do keep the wild creatures like rabbits and deer at a distance.
