Patience on this set lead to a double. Two monster coyotes on a windy day, one at close range and one at medium range. Setup was a key factor on this set. Let's Get to Watchin!

Les - so why, did you move closer to call in #2? That was awesome but you didn't explain why you did that. Love your videos!

Thanks for another great video Les. Finally got my first dog a couple days ago, thinking the whole time "What would Les do now". How do I get one of your coffee cups? 😂

Les, I am wondering if you could make a video on stand efficiency. I always find my walk in and out after 20 mins of calling takes up sooo much time and it is tough to get a lot of sets in. I have heard you say in more hilly areas you may move by foot further in and call again. Can you explain your thoughts/comfortableness and also what would be an efficient game plan for flat land callers?
@wiggster10805 жыл бұрын
From what i heard when you walk in, give it 5 mins before calling and sit in that stand for a half hour / 40 mins, and another 5 of sitting before you leave that stand.

I have yet to shoot my first. A number of years ago after a 12” snowstorm, I put on my winter natural gear camouflage and snowshoed out to a windfall where I set up with a 12 gage shotgun and buckshot. All I had with me for calls were a couple of Knight & Hale mouth calls. At the time I had heard to call for about 30 minutes before giving up. I called with a mournful cottontail distress cry hawayaaa!...hawayaa!. After not seeing anything, I finally called it quits only to find that I had called in my first coyote that I never saw within 15 feet of where I was sitting. It had silently circled me, and I never knew of its presence. I’m about to go out and try it again, and I’m trying to get all the tips I can from those who have been successful, to eliminate as many mistakes as I possibly can so I don’t educate anymore.

BTW Sir... Much appreciated how you break it down and in the storytelling and kind of explain what was your thought process in those moments and WHY those were your thoughts in those moments! P.S. What general rules govern your mouth-calling process in terms of... how long each call series is... what things/events happen when they are coming in that make you shift-gears from trying to convey a more frantic sound, with a lot of hand movement in the calling... over to a sound that's more like..."Ugh... I'm dying and pooped and almost running out of air and about to passout here" type of calling? I've always been anxious that I may be potentially giving myself away to Yotes I don't even see yet (it's a thick vegetation environment), due to the hand/finger movements when cupping the end of the call.

i know it is not the same on every stand but about how long do you call and about how long in between calls i think i may be calling to long not giving any breaks with distress and kiyi

Ive been watching a few of your youtube videos about calling coyotes. Im really not a hunter. I mean I will but its just not my thing. but I love watching hunting videos. I am tho a wildlife photographer and my question is would you call the same way in photographing coyotes or any other animal as you would if you were hunting them? any advise?
@coachallan25 жыл бұрын
Benjimen I am a hunter and my mother is a photographer like you. When I take her out I call for the animals just like I am hunting them. She always says I just shoot them with a camera instead of a gun. We have had great liken from coyotes to elk getting her some real good pictures. If that helps.
@J_bar_S_Photography5 жыл бұрын
@@coachallan2 Heck yea! thank you. Oh, and i will do both . shoot with my camera and my gun lol. Im not above going hunting. My two fav animals to hunt are coyotes and hogs. Coyotes because they like to try and get my goats and hogs because they are dang good to eat lol. Anyhow, thank you very much.

nice stand Les. I have noticed that coyotes dont seem to associate the sound of a shotgun (or .22) with as much danger as that of a centrefire or magnum rimfire round. Have shot pigeons and gophers most all day and had Yotes come in early evening. That said have had stands that die for a day as soon as the first centrefire shot is taken. The way you worked the wind that second coyote never heard a thing to make it weary.

In my humble opinion I'd go with a 22-250. But all of these a good calibers for this kind of shooting.

May I ask what you do with them after you kill them. I understand the need for population control. So no guff there just curious that’s all. Great Vid. Also.

Why you kill this animals in this way? Is it necessary? They had no chance! That's unfair hunting! You are hidden and have a sniper gun. Shame on you.....
