Patient Shows Up to a Deserted Dental Office

A North Carolina woman discovered an empty dental office. JoyMaria White says when she showed up for the appointment in Winston-Salem with her daughter, Rebekah, the front door was open but inside it was a total ghost town. She even called the dental office's corporate office but no one answered. Aspen Dental says it was a miscommunication and the appointment was for a different day. The company also says they are looking into why the doors were open.

This reminds me of one time in high school I went to my best friend's house. I'd been there a million times before so I just walked in. The home was completely deserted -- not my friend, nor her brother or mom were there. But it was clear someone had been there very recently, on top of the unlocked front door. I walked in, calling out "Hello?" Just as I got into the kitchen, the stereo turned itself on and classical music started playing. I figured, "I'm that person in the horror movie who is about to get ambushed by the psycho murderer, aren't I?" (that exact thing happens in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and I've seen that movie a zillion times) Fortunately not. My friend's mom had gone out for the night, my friend went to the corner store to get snacks, and her brother had gone out too. They knew I was on my way over so they left the door unlocked. The stereo turning on by itself... I think it was on a timer. A few minutes later, my friend showed up to find me standing on the sidewalk in the cold, having hurried out of her house as fast as I could.

I've come to the conclusion that most dental call centers give patients completely incorrect info when it comes to appointment availability dates. A few weeks ago my sister showed up to an appointment that the office had set up for 9:30am only to find out the place didn't open till 11. Not only that once she went in she wasn't able to actually have her visit because they told her the hygienist wasn't in that day.

I walked into an empty salon/spa like that once, all the doors were unlocked and the alarm was off in the middle of the day and no one was there, there was a ton a valuable stuff in there so I called the police and waited outside the door, I messaged the salon telling them what happened and they snapped at me for contacting them about it 😳

This happened to me before, office looked empty but the door was locked. I had an appt at 10 and apparently 3 other clients were booked the same time as me. We all left after waiting for 10-15 mins since there wasn’t anything we could do about it besides our appts getting rescheduled. After a few days later, I received a call saying I “missed my appt” 😀 thee audacity.

The same thing happened to me about a year ago (different dental office). They made my appointment for a Saturday morning, I showed up, and the entire place was a ghost town. Apparently they switched from having Saturday appointments to weekdays only sometime they made my appointment, and they never notified me. Absolutely irresponsible, especially with potential access to peoples' protected health information, expensive/dangerous surgical tools, biohazard waste, etc.

Something like this kinda happened to me. I went into a furniture store to inquire about a sale. Door was unlocked. Lights were on, but it was completely empty. No one on the floor, no one at the cash register and no customers. I cautiously walked the store in a circle saying "hello" briefly sitting on a few beds and walked out. I called the store when I got back home and a guy answered. It was weird. The thing I figured is that they only had one person working the store and he must've taken a bathroom break and didn't expect anyone to come in within those couple of minutes.

This reminded me of a guy who claims he was/is leaving on the world alone. He records his adventure and uploads crowded locations such as hospital, police station, busy intersection and no one is around. Yeah, that's Aspen Dental for you. They all probably just said forget it and left. Aspen Dental is one of the worst companies in America by far. I'm a young man so the prospect of getting dentures was terrifying to me but I absolutely did need them and I'm so much happier without any teeth. The pain and torment is finally over with BUT it's been MONTHS of trying in new dentures and they can't even get the teeth straight. Literally gave me dentures so big my lips were over an inch apart and I couldn't close my mouth at all. Their response? "Maybe you need to just get used to them ...". Multiple wax try in's and remade sets and I still don't have anything. Luckily they somehow accidentally made a decent temporary but I feel like I'm just going to be stuck in the temporary until I can afford to go to a real dentist. They have absolutely NO CLUE wtf they're doing. Look up the reviews before you go to this place. No joke my office has had an entire new set of employees every time I go to it and I've been going what seems like every other week. I have no clue how they manage to stay open without being forced to close down. It'd be like if you showed up to a Michelin star restaurant and they threw a plate down in front of you with a big mac on it. It's genuinely THAT level of incompetence and they somehow act like YOU'RE the problem and not them.

I feel you- my dentist was closed on a Friday and I was having pain. Aspen was the only dentist that would take emergency appointments. I saw the dentist she was from another clinic. They gave me amoxicillin to fight the infection, and scheduled me for an extraction. I really should have trusted my gut and just went to my regular dentist but I wene through with the extraction appointment at Aspen. A completely different dentist, he shot me up 7 times with novocaine, and I was in the chair for two hours trying to get the remaining root tips out of my mouth. I finally said screw it, I'm done. I was in soooo much pain for the next two weeks. Never EVER again! No thank you!

Aspen Dental is horrible. My sister needed some expensive dental work done, and made appts for consultations at a few places to check out pricing and second opinions. Aspen was one of them. Not only did they want to charge 10k over any of the other places, they wanted her to open a line of credit and when she refused - THEY OPENED ONE IN HER NAME ANYWAYS. She literally didn't even fill out anything or sign anything at all and they somehow fraudulently opened a line of credit in her name. The office manager didn't care, corporate didn't care and did nothing, and she's still dealing with it over a year later.

Wow i had the exact same situation once though i was going for an interview and the office was in the process of moving to another location. It was scary cause all their stuff were there and haphazardly placed, funny thing is i still went in check in at the counter, went up the lift to the interview room and no one not a single soul. I honestly thought they were doing a fire evacuation drill at first, it was not until about an hour did i call the office number that i got the truth. It was funny and scary experience for me

Well there was a major lawsuit in the news just recently about a five-year-old girl who was left with a female dentist and the female dentist had the little girl strapped down ... ... I mean it looked just very strange; but anyway she gave that poor child , I don't know if it was five or seven shots and when the mother came back the little girl had been having some seizures and other things and ended up blind and severely brain damaged and in a wheelchair and will for the rest of her life have to have 24-hour care . I forget the whole story and I can't even remember the name of the little girl but the mother won a $95 MILLION LAWSUIT but WILL NEVER get ONE PENNY ( It will be easy to find when you Google it ) but the story will make you sad , sickened and wonder what was really going on with that disgusting female dentist . I know I never heard of anyone getting more than one or two shots at the dentist so I can't imagine five or more and what in the world did she give her ... and why ? I also wondered if she was a pedophile because the female dentist just didn't look right in her eyes .

I had my wisdom teeth taken out in april. It wasn’t bad at all. I got swollen but not that much and only on one side and the pain was only like a 3. Honestly the worst part was getting food stuck in the hole that is left once they pull out the tooth but other than that I have no complaints. Yesterday I got a gum graft and the pain is much worse. Would take the wisdom teeth removal 10 times out of 10 over this.

I once had a doctor's appointment for my daughter when I went to the clinic I was told that we didn't have an appointment. I insisted that we did and they said that I was wrong. A week later Children's Protective Services were knocking at my door because the doctor reported me for child neglect for missing the doctor's appointment. (The appointment that they said that I didn't have)

That happen to me two weeks ago. I showed up at my doctor's office for my 1pm appointment fifteen minutes early and it was dark like this. The whole staff went home for lunch from 12-1 and nobody knew it. By the time the staff arrived, there were 14 people just hanging out in the lobby.

That's pretty chilling. Imagine walking into an empty, unlocked business when it seemed like they were open, only to find no one there. I never did like walking into empty buildings of any kind. Hell, I hated walking into my own empty apartment after getting off of midnight shifts (especially when my spouse was deployed overseas and I was living alone for a year).

This happened to me and my coworkers at my old job there were 4 of us in the office, we do container consolidation customer traffic is so so, and we were supposed to go on lunch on shifts, we discussed it at the start of the day, shock, confusion and amazement must have been on my face same as my coworkers when we met each other in the side entrance all four of us returning from lunch at the same time.

That happened to me once except it was a veterinary hospital at 8pm. Dark, door unlocked, and I got freaked out! There was a fire station next door so I went over and let them know so they could have police come and contact the owners.

I had an ob appointment when i was pregnant for my high risk pregnancy and they sent me to the exam room and no one was coming to check on me for over an hour so i poked my head out and it was dark in the hallways I got freaked out but a nurse was super far away and i said whats happening and they forgot I was still there 😂 the doc apologized and checked my baby.

That actually happened to me today when I went with my siblings for our dental appointment, but upon arriving, it was closed so I got out of the car cuz I KNEW i was on the right day, time, and they open on Monday but for some reason they were closed. So, i didn't think much but tried to open the door [even tho the sign said closed] and it opened. I went in thinking perhaps the ladies were in the reception but they weren't and the building looked awfully empty even tho there were coats on the seats and the light were turned on. I honestly thought they forgot to lock the door until a lady popped out saying that the doctor was called in sick today so all the appointment were cancelled today and d they messaged and called all the clients that it won't be open for today but somehow I didn't receive the call nor a message about it. But yeah I did schedule for a another appointment but it was still weirdly strange.

damn this reminded me when family and I went on vacation in Germany, I think it was in Stuttgart or some town near by, we booked this hotel and we were ONLY guests, it was so creepy, whole energy of that hotel was off. I even rang that bell on reception bcuz reception woman wasn't there,but she showed up finally lol although idk with what she was busy if we were only ones🤣 maybe it was like that bcuz it was winter🤷‍♀️ still creepy.
