@its_yo_ dad The West is not just the USA. European healthcare is miles above India's. Europeans get free healthcare even for cancer treatment. Stating cold-hard facts is not colonial hangover, moron. Also, drugs/medicines in India are cheap because of the generic drug industry. Do you know what generic drugs are and why they're cheap in the first place compared to branded ones? It's not just because of the subsidy. Do you understand the basic economics of demand, supply and market competition? Get yourself schooling first to learn about it and then you can insult others. You're nothing but just a very insecure, loudmouth nationalist. No doubt a Modi andhbhakt who can only throw insults at others yet possesses very little or no knowledge himself. India was the leading manufacturer of generic drugs way before Modi and BJP came to power in 2014 and exported it all around the world. Same applies with other specialities of medicine. However western doctors are more research oriented in pioneering advanced medicine. The reason medicine is so cheap in India is because of we are a mixed economy (socialist + capitalist) & this particularly is a feature of our socialist policies. We don't "control" the prices, we stabilize them in such a way that even the lower class can afford most medical services. We also have free healthcare programs in many cities (although I think this is only for citizens). I've been to a public hospital once. It isn't a 5-star hotel experience but they get the job done. I went to the dentist for removal of a cavity & it cost me ₹2. That's 1/35 of a dollar. I hope we'll always try to stabilize prices and keep the market highly regulated for the people.

*Unlike Western Countries, Indian Pharmaceutical companies produce critically important medicines and drugs at the fraction of prices (as opposed to their western counterparts) which actually helps common people to access affordable healthcare !! Since, last year Indian Govt. has started a simple a smart healthcare program in which the doctors are advised to prioritising generic medicines (similar chemical combination drugs at a very least of the prices) while giving prescriptions to the patients. Great work!*

If you did further in history...you would realise India invented surgery. What is known as Rhinoplasty or nose job...that was first done in India THOUSANDS(yes) years back..earliest known reference in Indian medical/surgery book Shuhruta dating back to 600 BCE ...2600 years back. The same book also mentions Cataract operation and the precautions/hygiene and care. The Islamic and Colonial(& Church) invasion of India has suppressed these open facts... but thankfully all these are now coming out in open and humanity can benefit from Indian/Hindu knowledge and wisdom.
