Thanks for highlighting the patio. I'd like to see more as you work through it to completion. I think there's tremendous value in the ability of hardscape to accentuate the softscape. Even the details of doing hardscaping well would be of interest to many (like me) on your channel. I greatly appreciate the art and professionalism that you bring to each element of your overall landscape.

Our local Master Gardener group will be hosting their annual home tours around town. It’s my favorite…I love to look and walk around other gardens. Always pick up some really good ideas, and can see what plants do really well in our area. Great video! 👩🏼‍🌾

Thanks for pointing out the native viburnum and its benefit. Hoping u continue to add more. The Indian pink is a native. I think the one u have is a nativar but the humming birds love it. They really attract neighbors walking by. We plant them in larger groups. New patio looks great

Man, great home and neighborhood garden tours! Love to see it. Exciting progress on the patio, too. Got over two inches of rain in a day earlier this week where I'm at; would send some of it over your way if I could. Fingers crossed you guys get a drinka water soon, but things are looking great regardless. Cheers!

Hi Jim, loved the info today on the flamethrower redbud. I love redbuds but just had to remove two pink redbuds from my garden. They were 6+ years old and in the last few years the bark stated cracking and limbs started dying off. Fungus? I don’t know but they were a bear to get out. The root system was massive. I also had a Forest Pansy that got snapped in half during a storm. I’d like to find another location and plant a flamethrower or Ruby Falls. Any suggestions for better success?

The patio looks so good! I really love the "mixed media" look with your use of different materials. I'm not sure who films the separate footage of the individual plants but I always enjoy that, it's a really nice addition to the video. 💚 Wish I could attend the open house so much, but we have a work event that day. Maybe next time!

Question for tomorrow: I have a a Cemellia Reticulata Hybrid “Francie L.” and a large tree branch fell on it, while I was cutting it. Took off 2 feet of the 6 foot plant. Has a nice straight upright center trunk, what can I do to re promote active growth or increase growth on that main trunk. Really want to get it back to where it was.

QUESTION PLEASE: do you find the blueberry plants easy to grow? I have acidic soil a little northwest of you near Knoxville, tn, 6b/7a, and i would love to grow blueberries, but I have never tried food plants or trees. I really would like to grow blueberries and maybe some fruit trees, but haven't done so, because I was afraid of needing to do a bunch of fertilizer or pesticides, and I don't use either. Im like you, red clay soil with a ton of chipdrops, and no pesticides. What fruit shrubs and trees do you find are the most trouble -free? Maybe you could do an episode about the easiest to grow food crops. I know every area is different, but those of us relatively similar to yours would be able to probably get similar results. Thanks for all your help, I have been watching you every day for a year or two now, and for some reason, I stay motivated when you show the drone footage of you spreading wood chips and stuff, lol, it's like a nudge for me to get off the couch. Yard work is nice because it's so satisfying looking at the results, instant gratification, even if only a section of the yard at a time. I like breaking the yard up into manageable sections at a time so I don't get discouraged. Also, i saw that ugly cedar apple rust alien formation on my eastern red cedar this week, and I'm having it removed because I planted a profusion crabapple a couple years ago, and I hope removing that cedar will let my crabapple stay healthy, since I don't see any other cedars near me. I should have taken my cedar out when I planted the crabapple but my crabapple is supposed to be resistant but when I saw that orange alien thing on the cedar, I don't want to keep it. I like crabapple trees better than eastern red cedar.

Jim, I have an Asian Pear that had what I'm told was "rust" last year. I do not know if it was Cedar Apple Rust. Having it once, does that mean this tree will always have it? If so, what can I do to prevent it? Is it too late to do something this year? Thank you. 😊

Hey Jim, I’ve been subscribed for a while. Found your channel when I was searching the name Putnam. Was just curious what would I could find to add to my genealogical research. I am an avid novice gardener here in Central NY, zone 5b. By any chance do you have any genealogical knowledge? I found my line all the way back to Thomas Putnam. He and his daughter Anne were accusers during the Salem Witch trials. Kind of dark for my branch (haha), but extremely fascinating history.
