The thing at 49:17 could probably be done if you treat it like populating an array list from a stack of values 0 to 15, each corresponding to an arbitrary assigned note. When randomly pulling a number from that stack to populate another list, you would only have the other values left to chose from as the stack gets smaller. So this could be done with some kind of loop and using array functions. Maybe this could be done with the Stochastic Telegraph BASICally module?, if that doesn't have array function methods then it may still need something custom. (I remember doing something like this as an old Javascript trick to prevent randomly shuffled quiz questions from repeating. So I know it involves that, but it's been a good while since I've done any scripting so the specific way was still fuzzy.) In this case the 0 through 15 values on the list can likely be re-scaled to a 0 through 10 CV value (16 steps total?), to pull from any sequencer that lets you select the programmed notes using a CV value. Not sure if that makes sense or not?

Just one thing I would say to get out of the rut of always doing the same thing. I know some people always start with drums and a bassline first, for example, which I used to do but I find if you put the bass on last you end up with a very different track (as its not led by the bass)

10:31 The question is whether Caterina uses the sequencer in this way. Her sequencer is an advanced beast (Orthogonal Devices ER-101 IIRC), but I don't know its features. It seems to me that she gradually builds up the sequences by adding more notes, carefully planned early on. But maybe I'm wrong.

Yes, totally, she is playing the sequencer and changing things manually, but I believe the question was how to achieve this in VCV in a generative way.

I would never have imagined that you started out as a drummer, went through psytrance, then classical music before getting to modular synthesizers haha. I also think many of us can relate with covid affecting our desire to get out there, as I've also become more introverted in that sense as well... But if you ever do ever perform live, I would definitely come and listen to your music as my sound system simply does not do it justice. Thank you for answering my question!

Probability sequence, You could sequence Prob-Key using the CV input to index, you set the first page to 100% then use a cv input into index to select the next page which would have less than 100% so would be random.

Hi Omri.. Thank you very much for your answer and your idea!!! It works fine but you need a second quantiser.. fortunately there are double quantisers in disting and I have 2 distigs.. But did you forget your tutorial about chords from shift register ? :) That was what i mean about extracting tones from seq..or arpego.. here is your video look Omri.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIrIaaWofrafpac thre is on the minute 16.12.. That's how I do it with bass...but it only works in VCV because I can't find a module in the hardware that works like this shift register from VCV.. Do you know such a module? But your method is almost the same.. S&H does the same thing as the shift-reg..I didn't even know it was possible that way.. Thank you very much!!! You are the best!

I'm happy I could help :) Yeah, the shift register technique is great for chords. Have a look at Shifty from Intellijel. It has "only" four channels but it's quite a fun module.
