not all of them were hosted by Martin.. I don't remember if they changed hosts between seasons or mid-season. But yea, many of them were great.. It ran for several seasons. They had some comics that straight bombed and some that were kinda ok.. but a lot of great sets by big names like michael colyar, dave chappelle, chris tucker, bernie mac, etc. and some awesome sets by comics that I never really heard of elsewhere (I miss a lot since I don't go to live comedy clubs, just see recorded stuff on tv, movies, amateur youtube recordings..)

As good as his stand up was, he was always best shooting the sh*t in a room full of comedians. Complete alpha, whether his peers loved or hated him, they all respected him. He came up with guys like Bill Burr, Louis CK, Kevin Hart, Colin Quinn, Mark Maron, Jim Norton, Dave Attell ect. All comedy giants, and they all feared Patrice in those Cellar Crowd back room roasts.

Def Comedy Jam was a half hour comedy show that used to come on HBO back in the day. Patrice O'Neal, Dave Chappelle, Bernie Mac, Chris Tucker, the big names were all on that show before they got huge. Even the hosts, Martin Lawrence and Joe Torry were funny comedians.
