Assolutamente! Era "bel canto" nel profondo. Maria Callas l'avrebbe amata. (Google Translate) Absolutely! She was 'bel canto' to her core. Maria Callas would have loved her.

Thanks for sharing, Rinus. I was thinking about doing it myself, but you were quicker. And that's good, for I would be able to provide only English subs. It must have been a painstaking work, to write down and synchronize all those subtitles. 🙂 A couple of remarks, to clarify some issues. 1. Originally the interview was aired in five distinct parts between 6.13 and 8.25 am. That's why Patka is being introduced by the hosts five times in the video, which is a merger of those 5 pieces. 2. The interview is hosted by Soňa Baranová & Ondřej Blaho, presenters of the Czech public television studio in Brno. 3. The broadcast was made by the channel ČT2 (Česká televize 2) and not ČT1. The invaluable _La Celestia_ provides such info, but they are clearly mistaken this time - the channel logo is seen in the upper left corner of the screen. And it was surely aired from Brno and not from Prague. The previous evening, on Aug 14, 2019, Patka sang in a concert arranged in the courtyard of the Špilberk (Spielberg) Castle in Brno. They refer to this performance in the beginning of the interview. The talk is held on Aug. 15 early in the morning - it's absolutely improbable that Patka spent the night after the concert travelling from Brno to Prague to give an interview at 6 am.😊 And the moderators are known to work for the Brno section of Czech TV. best wishes, K.

The priest who conducted Patricia's funeral wisely commented that her life should be measured 'not by time but by the intensity of the encounter.'
@joealp81963 күн бұрын
@@peterburdge4138 That's extraordinarily accurate! Having met her briefly in 2019, I posted a comment describing my 'encounter' as being 'intense'. Its impossible to explain.

@@joealp8196 You are to be envied for the privilege of meeting Patricia! While he may have been briefed by the family, I suspect that the priest, Father Vítězslav Řehulka, also knew her personally, as she had given performances for the benefit of his church, of which she was presumably a parishioner. His words can perhaps be taken to refer both to the intensity of Patricia’s encounter with life, which she evidently seized with both hands, and also to the intensity of the encounter which we experience when listening to her singing, which - even at one remove - is both exceptional and inexplicable.
@joealp81963 күн бұрын
@@peterburdge4138 Oh, I am sure he was speaking in more general terms. Of course, I first encountered her on KZbin, and it was my recognition of her extraordinary art that determined my travelling to see her. But I was totally unprepared for the effect her overwhelming charm and graciousness would have on me. My sorrow at her passing is profound.

Four centuries ago, in Italy, there was a very similar fate. It was the life and death of an outstanding soprano Caterina Martinelli. She died at the age of 18 only. How her contemporaries percieved her art of singing and her personality, it was inscribed on her tomb: Look, read and weep! Caterina Martinelli of Rome, who by the tunefulness and flexibility of her voice easily excelled the songs of the Sirens and the melody of the heavenly spheres, dear above all to Vincenzo, Serene Duke of Mantua, for that famous excellence, the sweetness of her manner, her beauty, her grace and charm, snatched away, alas, by bitter death , rests for eternity in this tomb, commanded by the most generous prince who still grieves at this sudden blow. Let her name live in the world, and her soul with God. She died in the eighteenth year of her youth, the ninth March, 1608. More about her is in the video titled: The tragically short career of Monteverdi’s star soprano Caterina Martinelli
