Thank you for another wonderful selection. I was always rather ambivalent about Mozart until Patricia’s 2017 performance of Laudate Dominum, which converted me. Since then she has opened several other musical doors for me, which I would not previously have thought of entering. Indeed, ‘To love her is a liberal education.’

The text displayed beneath Patricia's portrait at her funeral, which was apparently planned by her, was 'I will sing to thee, my God, before the angels' (Psalm 138). It seems clear that she was a believer, so we may be confident that this is exactly what she is now doing.

"I am like a young girl in love with Mozart and must have him placed highest whatever the cost… and I shall beg Mozart to forgive me because his music did not inspire me to great deeds but made a fool of me - I, who through him lost the last grain of reason I possessed, and now spend most of my time in quiet sadness humming what I do not understand, haunting like a ghost what I cannot enter into… To take him away, to efface his name, would be to overturn the only pillar that hitherto has prevented everything collapsing for me into a boundless chaos, into a fearful nothingness." There are people who should never die, and even less be forgotten; I know that many of us think like that, we would never want our parents, friends, children, or even ourselves to die, but as an old saying goes: "NOTHING IS CERTAIN IN THIS LIFE, EXCEPT DEATH!"; PATRICIA HAS LEFT THIS WORLD, BUT SHE SHOULD NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!! ; and the only way for that to happen is for someone to make a film about her life, in the Czech Republic, Germany, the USA, Japan, wherever the hell!; if we look at it carefully, her life has all the ingredients: an extraordinary talent, an exceptional story and even a tragic, tragic death! of those that Hollywood likes so much, I hope that among so many fans that Patricia had, and has in the world, there is someone with enough contacts to get this idea going in the next few years.

In an interview she gave in 2013 the fifteen-year old Patricia said: 'Famous singers can mean a lot to beginning singers. Everyone will find their favourite, or even more favourites. In the case of opera, it is certainly very beneficial. This way, you will get to know many interpretation options and this can help in finding your own style. In any case, each pattern enriches the spectrum of my knowledge. I don’t have one special musical role model, but I really like the Slovak opera star Lucia Popp, who unfortunately is no longer with us. Her overall musical expression is a beauty in many ways. Her singing conveys a feeling of well-being and happiness, it is light, simple and at the same time sensitive and gentle. It’s a balm for the soul.'

@@michaelhirst4191 The priest who presided at Patricia’s funeral is reported to have said (as no doubt imperfectly rendered by Google Translate): ‘ Many of us must have had that burning, gnawing question, why so young, why so talented, why so good, why now? My dears, anyone who thinks they know the answer is either proud or crazy. This is beyond our thinking. It is the secret of Patricia's life, which is not measured by time, but by the intensity of the meeting.’ Easter, with its commemoration of Christ’s passion, reminds us that God has first-hand experience of undeserved suffering, undergone voluntarily to redeem us from futility and eternal death, and instead to lead us to a place where suffering is no more. Patricia’s husband, Vlastimil, wrote after Patricia’s death: ‘This heartbreaking pain is only partly mitigated by the feeling, rather by the belief that Paťka is really better now. She deserves only the best. She fought bravely, humbly, modestly, and even with wit and her beautiful smile. She was strong like few others. During this insidious disease, she never complained about anything, she managed even what sometimes even healthy people could not, and in the end she won. She didn't leave alone! She was, is and will continue to be sincerely loved, admired, inspiring and unforgettable. I am happy that I could accompany her and go with her to the very new beginning.
