URBAN DECAY'S NAKED "NEW & IMPROVED FORMULA" VS MY 12 YEAR OLD NAKED PALETTE! WHAT CHANGED?

Not you doing absolutely everything to spread the nostalgia vibes across the beauty space! This was an absolute joy of a video. I bought the Naked palette back when it came with an eyeliner pencil instead of a brush 🤦🏻‍♀️, and when my, then 3-year old smashed my 2010 palette to complete complete shit in 2019 AFTER it was discontinued…I was devastated!!! I picked this up the day it released in my Ulta. All is right in the world again 😂 (So dramatic)

Urban Decay Naked should be permanent. I have my OG and keep in the car , an OG backup untouched, and picked up 2 new ones. I have hundreds of palettes and this is a fave! So glad it’s back! ❤

I want to get this again because it’s so nostalgic, I love the more compact palette, and I love the narrow pan size. However, for some reason I feel like I’d be better off just buying something like Natasha Denona I Need a Nude or Glam palettes. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nowadays, these Brands new Eyeshadows/powder products use alot of water, oils/emollients and silicones in their formulas which actually make the product go bad so quickly compared to the OG makeup that was just dry-non emollient powdery formulas. My old palettes work so beautifully to this day but new palettes i buy go dry after a couple of years

You are absolutely correct. These emollient shadows only last for a little while. That is why I prefer shadows that are on the dry side. Like Viseart, Tarte and even Too Faced sometimes.

You just answered a question I had on why new palettes go bad so fast in comparison to past makeup. Lisa Eldridge did a tutorial some years ago with a channel eyeshadow palette and she said this is almost 10 yrs old and is still perfect. I was so surprised 😯

This pallet is so nostalgic for me I HAD to buy one the day it came out! And I’m not even much of a makeup girlie these days 😂 But it reminded me of college days and the shades are so beautiful for everyday, I’m getting back into it and the tutorials are so helpful for me (I’m rusty!)❤ The side-by-side comparison crushed my soul a bit when I saw so many of the old palette shades winning; I was skeptic that “new formula” meant “better”; I think we’re all a little jaded with inflation being charged more but getting less. I think ALL the shades should be better! But thank you for the honest and helpful review!!! ❤ Can’t wait to see more tutorials! ☺️

My original Naked palette came with a double ended brush, & as far as brushes go in a palette, it was great & all I used. I still have the OG but will hopefully get the new one if it comes to Australia.

Loved the naked palette. Even if the new palette is not identical to the old one, I still love it. Toasted and Hustle looked more purple-y in the original though. Wished that had translated especially with the new one being more cool toned, but overall super happy with the re-release

This is such a beautiful pallet. This is only pallet that I hit pan on every single eyeshadow pan. I am getting it again. I bought 2010, 2017, and 2024.

Hi! Thank you for such an amazing video! When I heard that Naked original is back, I was literally shocked but very happy. I used to own Naked 2,3, smoky and heat, but I always worried that I skipped the first one. Now, I have made my eyeshadow collection much smaller as it takes ages to finish at least one pallet and many eyeshadows were just laying in my collection slowly dying. This is so sad, isn't it? Now I almost finish my Kiko Milano eyeshadow pallet and when I will be truly done with it, I will go for this beautiful palette. What a nostalgia ! I used to love Half Baked so so much ! I am soooo exited!

Me too, only had the second one and regretted decluttering it (although expiring wise it was the responsible decision). It was my first and for a long time only expensive make up item. Now I'm curious about the OG. I do hope they will also re-release the Naked 2!

I agree with your score between the new Naked palette vs the old palette. I still have my original palette! I’m wearing the palette today. I definitely see some improvement especially with my favorite shades! I was watching the awesome beautiful Allie Dawson review the new palette and she was looking at the back. They increased the price but the shades are in smaller pans than the original palette! I totally get it, this was released 12 years ago and with inflation and everything else going on. I expected it would cost more but I didn’t think they would make the pans smaller. I love my original palette but I think I should get the new one. You always create the most beautiful eye looks Patty ☺️

I bought my Naked palette in 2011 at Sephora in France, and loved it to pieces! I definitely think I'll buy the new one for nostalgia reasons. Smog was my favorite shade, and I still have the old packaging.

really sad I wasn't able to afford the og OR the new one 🥲would really liked to have owned the og since the colors are formulation seem to be better; and can we talk about how brands prey on FOMO and people don't get to enjoy their stuff because of it? I REALLY despise when brands do this. the least they could do is make the newer palette the same formulation and of the same quality or at least the same price point

Great video! I think it's obvious that the new palette is pretty much the same as the older one. Heather Austin did a comparison too. She then showed palettes from ND and Sigma as alternatives. I prefer those formulas, so I'm going to keep my Naked palette in retirement 💙💐💙

Just yesterday I was thinking how amazing it would have been to have a new release. I didn’t know they were actually doing it. When it came out it wasn’t even sold in my country and 49$ seemed like an obscene amount of money. So I have to save up and then beg a friend to buy it for me in London. Then I lost it on a holiday and had to wait months to rebuy it! 😂 I was hoping for a new advanced formula for Urban Decay since nowadays their palettes are not comparable with modern formulas. I such they are much closer to Natasha Denona’s formula.

My Naked Palettes have gone bad. I still keep them for sentimental reasons, but I don't use them. I find a lot of the newer shadows (like in the Foxy palette) less like a classic shimmer but more of a glittery topper. Since it is quite complicated to buy UD in Germany nowadays (like it was in 2012 😀), I'm not sure if I should get this one.

I am with you to an extent. I think UD may have been running out of ideas, so this? This was a genius move on their part. I want to know who it was who told the team to stop making “naked” and actually drop the OG again. Like that person understands this market. This will bring everyone who missed out on it the first go round or has a makeup tragedy story regarding their OG palette to the market. I think the hype around Naked will bring a whole new generation of beauty lovers in. Maybe not to Urban Decay in particular, but to this iconic palette for sure. Wow, I really am giving a dissertation on an eyeshadow palette release. But hey, we are talking about it! This video was like an endorphin shot! And the classic, gorgeous eye look? Come on! Very few people can blend like Patti can!

Neutrals will never be out of style. Perhaps looking through the lens of social media something that came out a mere twelve years ago seems outdated but the majority of people aren’t walking around with graphic eyeliner, pink shadow and glitter on their eyes. Nothing is “innovative” in the world of cosmetics and specifically eyeshadow except maybe the formulation. We all buy the same stuff over and over again only in different packaging.

I’m still on the fence about buying the new naked palette 😅 as many have said in these comments, this is the pallet that started at all for all of us makeup junkies ! My original naked pallet came with a double ended eyeliner and honestly, it is in pristine condition 🎉 back when I bought it I was a new to be make up and I didn’t really know how to do my eye shadow so my pallet is practically untouched 😅 I think I might’ve used it once 😂 I have the first three original naked pallets plus the naked honey, and the naked heat, which is another one that I love ❤ I might just buy the new one just to have a fresher pallet, but my OG one I think it’s still fine to use 😅😊 you had me dead when you said we were talking shit about make up !! 😂

You should have broken the first layer on the new one on each colour and use the same exact finger to be fair because even if you think you press the same that isn't possible.

😀 I think you favoured the old one a little bit - some swatches looked better in the new palette and you gave points to the old one. But you had closer look and experienced them to the touch, so I don´t blame you. Somehow, I was never interested in this palette anyway - cool tones don´t look very well on me.
