Definitely. The original story was that Patrick wanted more time off set to mend his marriage with his wife (since they were separated or close to it at the time and that’s why Derek wasn’t on the show much) and Shonda was like NOPE and killed him off instead.

I worked in production Netflix, NBC, Hulu, honestly I believe it's the work schedule. I remember being on set for certain shows at 5am not leaving til the next day at 2am now doing that on a network show with big as Grey's would be hard for anyone. Trying to do TV and film. He said he didn’t like the direction his character went (everyone hating him and George doing immoral things which is out of character of him to do, bc he’s supposed to be the underdog type) AND because out of all of the main cast (him being one of the original main characters) he only got a total of 40 minutes of screentime throughout the whole season while his peers had hours in comparison. His character was completely assassinated, he was reduced to a background character, and all of this JUST so happened to conspire IMMEDIATELY after Isaiah Washington had to be terminated from the show because of how he treated TR. To me, that is not a coincidence. Shonda even tried to defend Isaiah, if I’m not mistaken. She remained friends w him (which is her right) but she let her friendship with him effect her treatment of TR. That’s just my take on it all. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think these actors exaggerate...15 hours on set they say but they probably film in the morning for a few hours to capture certain light etc, then they have an 8 hour break before the night time filming starts. Yet they all say 'I do 15 hour days.' You don't!!

@@pinkyalmeroth3702 there’s definitely no 8 hr break between day and night shoots especially if most of it is interior. Actors get to set as early as 6am to get started in hair and make up. Exteriors have to be done at a certain time of day or night obviously but they use lights and black out curtains and all sorts of tricks to create whatever time of day they need for interiors. It is 100% likely that they are on set 15 hrs. They might not be working that whole time while things are being set up, but they can’t just leave. I once spent 9 hrs in a trailer because they were trying to get all the the exterior shots they needed before it started snowing and I was only there for the interior shots.

I recall Reading a story that said the writers had Patrick go to DC for the majority of his last season because he was “suspended without pay”. As we fans remember that 12th season Meredith and Derek were fighting terribly. Meredith told Derek to go to DC and he gladly went. The writers had their marriage on the rocks, unclear where to go in the storyline. Writers had to wait for the decision whether or not Patrick Dempsey would be fired before writing an ending for his character. Derek was written off to DC (suspended) until the last two shows of the season. He returned, reconnected with Meredith and then died. We all remember Meredith’s last few words to him when he was “alive” was.. “ I CAN live without you but I don’t want to”. Looking back, I wish that was not said. I feel it minimized their relationship and Meredith’s love for McDreamy. Derek as we know, goes to quit DC job and dies in the car wreck. I would have liked a different ending for Derek, perhaps he dies when the two of them have fallen back in love again. Although not possible because he was fired in reality, that’s why he had such a small part of his last show. However Dempseys firing was the best thing for Ellen Pompeo. Rumor is he was paid twice as much than her. She ended up with a pay raise that made her the highest paying TV show actor.

I have a friend who is a celebrity in my country. She not that big just minor roles. She would go off to work at 5am. Finish the taping at 12am. Got exam at 7am.. she was juggling her work, school and friends all together. We would meet in her break for coffee. But just walking distance in their set. @@ASmith-hb4ed he admitted that he didnt want to play that role in S11 and wanted to leave when sandra left and just stayed for the money. He had trouble with his family as his mother died during that time. I dont think he wanted to leave Grey's when the show was in its prime time.

like c'mon does no one see it yet? Ellen Pompeo is the issue in alot of the problems that occured. Her real life image seems fake entiltled she grew up as a girl on the block almost hustling odd things. She caught a break let money fame get to her she didnt make this show she was a part of it yess but no amazing acting out of ellen tbh. TK Knight,Sandra Ohh,Sloan,Katherine Heigle,baily,webber,alexx, patrick,sloan,lexie,so on u get it made this show team effort 9/10 are dead lol all by season 10 weird 2 of them won major awards not ellen also ellen said this show wouldnt be a show without me its greys anatomy but tbh maybe but if i had the choice ellen or even half the cast that died i wouldnt choose ellen. lastly ellen also says she wanted to prove the show could go on with out them meaning she wanted the spotlight to be the best the saviour but i mean yeah the show is good up till the newest season my opionon but wasnt great as it was all shows come to a end cast dont get along but her entilted butt should be gratfull and see that this show was made because of all thos former cast members not her sorry love meridith grey but now ellen?Like were on almost 400 episodes or more rite like its ok if it dies down its a miracle its still going tbh rite but these former cast members are the real stars
