Patrick Dempsey Is (Finally!) PEOPLE's 2023 Sexiest Man Alive: "I’ve Always Been the Bridesmaid"

Daring, dreamy and definitely worth the wait! Patrick Dempsey's heartthrob status created such a fan frenzy that he graced the pages of PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive issue countless times over the years. And now that he’s finally won the title? "I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life," says the 57-year-old. "It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive."
In our exclusive interview, the actor opens up about founding the Dempsey Center in honor of his late mom to support cancer patients, how his love for speed and adventure started at an early age - he’ll soon show off his racing skills in the upcoming biopic 'Ferrari' - and how his happiest moments are at home with his wife Jillian and their three kids.

I have loved and enjoyed Mr. Dempsey from the early days of his film career. Some film with him and George Burns and another with him and Kirstie Alley, but was not aware that Patrick not only had dyslexia, and got his start in theatre doing a play written by a man who openly talks about his dyslexia. It would be interested if maybe there was something that Harvey saw in a very young Patrick that said this kid has what i have or something similar and decided to take a chance and give him a shot. If that was the case, and Harvey is very intuitive and insightful, we could use more people in the world who could enable more Patrick Dempsey's to thrive and live a full and engaging life.
