To be fair, Pods hasn't been given enough opportunity to play the NHL game. Give him a solid year on the 4th line and let him grow. In his Rookie season, he showed huge promise. He has the tools to be successful.

He should have played a season or two in the AHL, he was rushed. He’s younger than half the guys down there now

Your going to have to make a deal at the trade deadline for other good Dman. See who's available and who's preforming well before being hasty.

I'd rather have 2 DeBrusk's than 1 guy making twice as much.

Exactly. You need depth in the playoffs and if your big $$$ player gets hurt, you are screwed. With 2 players like DeBrusk, if one gets hurt, you have a backup.

DeBrusk will but some contractual pressure on Boeser as well, if he can produce at the same rate as Brock how could he justify making $8m+ when Jake is doing it on $5.5m

Pods has played under 3 different Canuck coaches, along with more NHL games than AHL. Not really enough time to develop properly in our farm system imo.

As is usual with free agency, a whole bunch of guys who have almost no record of consistency, in fact many have had disappointing careers up until that last season, now find they need to make their bank or risk regretting not making money which secures their future. Yeah it's tough to blame the players and agents because the GMs are all ready to drop huge money on 1 or 2 good seasons. These are huge dice rolls and you just know after this last free agent day we will see a ton of regret in the near future. "What's that ? Did you say something Nikita Zadorov ? "

Podz requires waivers now i believe. If we send him down and losehim on waivers, that sucks....that being said, it is probably his last chance

ALL these UFA signings (including their own) prove only one thing: The Canucks have LITERALLY ZERO PROSPECTS to take a single roster spot on the NHL team... Not even 3rd pairing / 4th liners... And THAT'S pretty sad.
