What no one told you about Leica M10 Cameras was something I filmed with the wrong camera the day after uploading my first Leica M10 Camera video a little over 5 years ago. It ended up being a mess, and I never reshot it. But it always sat in the back of my head until two years ago when I wrote a first draft and filmed part of it, never finishing it. A lot has changed in the last two years, I finally re-wrote it after I finished the Steel Rim video. Now that I own all 5 Leica M10 camera models, it was time to put this idea to rest.
This ended up being a 3 hours and 44 minutes video I shot on my own, the very first video I made alone and since it was too long, I broke it apart in chapters - uploading the last chapter first, starting by the end, starting by providing you value, tips and tricks I learned along the way in the last 46 years of making photos.
Chapter 7 will be uploaded next, that part which comes before this one. Everything is shot and edited but... I am leaving on a two month's vacation so - the 6 missing chapters risk being uploaded at the end of August.
Chapter 1 starts more or less like this: "I am here to tell you what no one ever told you about Leica M10 cameras. Not even Leica told you about an M10 feature they made to simplify the act of making photos. I be saying long story short and then proceed to tell you the double VHS Titanic version of the story, similar to what I did in my previous video. There is a lot to unpack, so yes, this video is going to be a very long one." yes ... 3 hours and 44 minutes long.
"In this video I will tell you what no one told you about Leica M10 cameras, in my opinion, making the M10 the best digital M to make stills photos. Then I’ll introduce myself properly, a quick bio about who I am, and follow with the reasons I started my KZbin channel 4 years ago. Then I will tell you why I have all five different M10 digital camera models, and of these, which M10 camera is my favourite. Then move on to why I don’t have an M11. After this I will go back to the M10, to cover everything else about this particular M camera model. Then I will tell you why, it’s about time we start focusing on the photos we make, as oppose to the cameras and lenses we use to make them with. Because focusing on the photos we make, the end result, not the camera gear, is the only way to creatively grow as a photographer. Finally I’ll give you ten quick basic photography tips, a quick photography crash course, just a simple tried and true foundation to build on, to hopefully help you quickly improve your photography, and enable you to creatively grow, as a photographer."

For daily shooting, definitely team old cam one lens! M240 + 35/2. Running it until the camera falls apart. I whittled down my entire kit to just a trio: Leica M240, 35/2, 90/4. Feels like peak setup for me personally.

If I'm going to take advice from anyone about keeping it simple, it’s going to be you. Your extensive experience with numerous cameras and lenses has taught you that creativity trumps gear when it comes to achieving great results.

Thank you, correct.The more gear one has, the less creative he'll be, that's me. This is why I am finally letting go of a lot of stuff, gear and lenses because - I just want to make photos. I remember fondly my first 22 years of making photos, with one camera and one lens, two film stocks only, Tried-X and later on, Portra. Life was good and how we forget the happy days when we have more than we can carry, it just weighted me down.

I have a Leica M10-P Reporter, a M10-D, a Q2...and I always find myself using my old M9-P.

The M9-P stills remains a great camera to this day. The squirrel cage chase only makes us realize at times how good older cameras really are, to this day !

I shot strictly film Leica for a decade in the US, but I live in France now (30 mins west of Paris) and honestly my motivation went down hill because of having kids and living away from the city life. During covid I just couldn't afford to keep shooting film so wanted to get into digital m. I also wanted to invest in scanning film with a camera also at the time so ideally was Sony, but in the end decided to get the x100v. I have a blast shooting it. Capturing daily life, and time to time candid stuff, but since a month ago I've been on the hunt for a digital m again. Not sure if i should go with the m10 (at $5k), or m10p ($6k), or just get up to date m11 (roughly $7k). I'm so used to charging the battery just by USB-C that just thinking about carrying a charger when I travel seems annoying. Allowing the choice of different MP is also a welcome for different uses. From the photo of all your cameras, you seen to have every model of the M10? Something tells me you don't like the M11? By the way, love your shots. I'm more a 28mm guy. I think I would go to town if I just have a body to shoot again.

Thank you, yes I have all the different M10 cameras, if I can make one recommendation, the M10-P or the M11 is the way to go. Correct I am not fond of the M11, bur for prints it is the better camera. I can get well over 1200 photos per battery with an M10. I am not fond of USB-C charging for a camera.

Thank you. The first lens on the Leica M10-Monochrom at the beginning of the video is an old Leica Summarit 50/1.5 M mount with its original Hood and n original Summarit 41mm yellow filter on it. It is terrific for black and white photography. It is one of the most affordable original Leica lens. At 2:34 there is a of my youngest son, made at f/1.5 with an M10-Monochrom.

​@@PatrickColpronI've had the 50/1.5 also in my early days, but ended up selling to fund the 50/2 iv, but because it's quite cheap, yeah I should have kept mine. I liked this Summarit. Have you seen/tried the 85/1.5 rex? Now that thing is impressive.

@@nuj427 I never regretted selling my first 50/1.5 because it had a lot of marks on the coating so it produced less than perfect images at wider aperture and had terrible glow. The one I have now, the glass and coating are perfect, no glow wide open and plenty sharp. It is great on black and white and color digital sensors. I'll test it on color film in September when I get back home after the summer holidays

@@Super.Quasar it is just the state of the world these days where more and more people seem to always be on their phones. O really don't pursue these photos, they are just a by product of people's behavior in the modern world.

There are no rules of composition. I prefer the word Framing! Look at Henri Cartier Bresson! It;s easy and impossible. That's life.Shoot lots! Film wasn't made from the shroud! Be Happy. Bravo.

@@jasongold6751 I agree, there are no rules to composition. I like framing but always see it as a composition, adding or removing elements in a photo is a little dance, composing with the visual elements in front of me, my visual sonatas.

At 2:34 there is a of my youngest son, made at f/1.5 with an M10-Monochrom.
