No, because his shot relies heavily on the flex of the stick and the release of that tension. The lower he puts his left hand the less flex he gets (shorter stick is always harder to flex than a longer one), which in turn means more accuracy but a weaker shot. For Laine's shooting techinque it's about finding the right balance between those two, accuracy and strength. His accuracy is already phenomenal.

An ice hockey stick has three key features that give all the speed to the puck. It's purely physics. Its lenght, its flex and its kickpoint. In a slapshot the energy is delivered to the puck from your forward momentum, body weight, push-pull mechanism of your upper body and wrist snapping. The sticks purpose is to store that energy in the shaft and coil it up like a spring and release the energy to the puck. Shafts kickpoint is the point where sticks tapering narrows and the shaft bends most. Laine uses standard 85 flex (not standard for his size though) but his stick is four inches longer than standard ones. Combine that with Laine's frame and weight to make that stick a fucking slingshot. He also has very low kickpoint in his sticks (plus extra hard blade) which in turn helps delivering the energy to the puck with minimun loss. And he knows by a millimeter where to place his hands to generate most velocity. If he would grab his right hand lower, the coiled spring energy in the stick would just be lower. Higher, and he wouldn't be able to put all his body weight on it. I think Laine is at max speed on that stick that is even possible. Higher energy on the shaft would just simply snap it, and I'm 100% that he goes through dozens of sticks a season already breaking them in practice and games. In the wooden sticks era I preferred also a bit longer stick (for my height) with low flex, and I broke a stick a week at wintertime at hobby games. Simply because Laine is 4" shorter than Chara, I'm pretty sure he'll never threaten Charas speeds, that's what the physics told me. But add 10 more pounds in his frame and go for 95 flex on extra long shaft for that same spring effect and we're at 103-104 mph ball park.
