Patriots 2024 Draft Picks: Making Sense of it All

Good breakdown of the draft. I too have the Patriots 2024 draft a B+ yesterday. Very solid draft. The best draft we have had in many years IMO.

Milton and Maye have similar potential. Very wise to draft both, in case Maye flops, as he easily could.

I am pretty pleased with what we got in this draft. The need area's were addressed. I do think Wallace is going to work out pretty well. I saw him play at Penn State. He is a really good player. I think Joe Milton the second quarterback drafted is pretty under rated. 65 % completion rate. Powerful arm. Not very many interceptions. Could end up being a steal. I also liked the receivers that were chosen. I would rate this draft a good solid B. I like it. Joe

should have traded the third pick to vikings for 11, 23, 1st, 3rd and 5th 2025. Then take Mccarthy or Penix or even Nix at 11 and Brian Thomas Jr or Xavier Worthy at 23. Then we have awesome draft capital for next year!!!

Maye, Baker & Milton 👍 For all the other picks, there were better prospects at their position when they drafted them. So.... I am glad they did not trade down the 3rd pick because it looks that they would most likely make bad choices with the extra picks. I think.

Wallace was the first player in this draft that I didn’t know who he was. Robinson at 103 was the fifth player that I didn’t know. So I knew 95% of the top 105 but only half of the Patriots top 4. There is something wrong with that. I heard of Dial but barely. Every simulation I did if I took wr in the second then I would run out of tackles by the third with a ton of wr talent left on the board. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Baker is a better pro than Polk. I understand they say they got who they wanted but can you imagine a scenario where Wolf tell all the reporters that the players they liked better were taken in front of them and they took what was left? No. He would say the exact bullshit that he just did. Oh, and thank god they got another guard so just in case Onwenu gets injured they can play another lineman out of position.

The rankings of those simulators was way off lol. It really means nothing what your sims did. Mine had Leggette and Worthy going on the 2nd round and Kingsley S and Rosengarten going in the 1st. So there's that. I had at least 4 draftable tackles available in the 3rd and they would have made it if it weren't for the late run on them near the end of the 2nd which ironically could have been caused by the Pats making calls to trade up to get one. There wasn't any LTs worthy of the 34th/37th pick and other than Kingsley the LTs taken in the later half of the 2nd were all graded 3rd round picks. P. Paul by Miami was a reach and a half.

@@finiteresident2294 so you agree that Wolf was probably lying about purposely staying pat at in the third because he knew his pick would still be there? Also, you still disregarded the wr talent available in the third. There was a ton. Roman Wilson is pretty much a faster version of Polk. Maybe not quite as good of hands but a better route runner. Personally I would have tried to trade up with the cardinals who took D Robinson. He would have likely made it to the second round and I would have taken Guyton but I understand not wanting to give up a 4th round pick. Would have felt better if they hadn’t used that pick on an unknown guard

@@brianhammond2832 Look at the 5 WRs taken in the 3rd. They're all fliers. None are X's. And none are close to or better than Polk. Your Wilson comparison is far off lol. MI was a run heavy team for a reason. As for trades no one was making trades with the Pats for some reason. They tried to trade back into the late 1st and late second and were turned down both times. Oddly the Bills were willing to trade with the Chiefs but not the Patriots. It's funny everyone says the pats should do this and do that but forget that it takes 2 to tango.

@@brianhammond2832 and no I dont htink he was lying. Once they figured out they wer stuck with pick 34 and couldn't trade up Polk was probablyu their guy. I don't think he said he was their guy all along. From what I'm hearing they wanted to trade up into the late 1st. So they were probably targeting either of the last 4 WR's to go. I personally think they were targeting Legette. Im surprised the 9ners didnt trade back. Pearsall could have easily been available at 34. But 1st rounders get that extra year of team control so that also makes it a tad more difficult to trade back into the 1st from the 2nd. Franchise tags are way more expensive than a 5 year option.

Wolf said that he didn’t move up to get a tackle during the run of tackles at the end of the second round because he knew the tackle he coveted would still be there in the third. But you said in your original comment that you think they created the second round tackle frenzy by trying to trade up. Your comment is at odds with what he said. Do you believe what he said and your comment is wrong or do you agree with your and my comment and that he was not being truthful?

The TE pick was stupid. If they wanted acTE they should have taken Tanner mclachlan.he is 6'5 and can block for the run he also ran the 3rd fasted 40 tome for TE.instead they drafted a 3rd slow guy.speed wins in the NFL now.and Mayo drafted 3 slow guys that dont separate
